Hi guys,
is there any way how to disable lock screen PIN/password/pattern while using VPN? We are not allowed to have VPN connections defined without this annoying "feature".
I know that this is a common Android problem, so - is there any unofficial ROM able to bypass this frustrating behaviour?
Yeah that's frustrating. I use VPN all the time and I don't want any lock goddamnit
maybe try a tasker profile?

With my Nokia E65 running apps (Opera Mini, IM software) it will turn on (and off) wifi/gps when needed, so that it's done automatically in the background without having to turn on the wifi function just to open a website.
Is this possible on Android/HTC Desire? I keep having to turn wifi on then off for using an app, why isn't this handled automatically on a need-to-use basis by the app/os itself?
Some apps can enable wifi, its not the desires fault, that the devs of the particular apps your talking about, hasnt bothered to include that feature....

and i dare say apps cant auto activate gps as a security feature, so no1 can gain your geo position without your permission

I thought some would, but even the built-in browser doesn't for me. Maybe I'm doing something wrong.
Gameloft games ask and can turn the wifi on without you needing to exit the app

Any one else here use tasker? Anyone having issue with gps not turning on with tasker?
I'm having the same issue....did you ever find a solution to your problem?
It's an Android thing. Android doesn't allow third party apps to directly change the gps due to security issues. It will automatically take you to the location settings
Install an apparently called "secure settings". Its an addon to tasker; ie you will get more options within tasker with it. One of the things is GPS.

Hey everyone,
Does anyone know if there's a way to have the lockscreen pop up even when security is disabled? I use Unlock with WiFi at home, an app which disables my PIN when I'm on my home WiFi and the way it achieves this is by temporarily disabling security. An unfortunate consequence of this is that the screen with the ring/quick launch icons as well as AOKP's weather/calendar info also disappears. Any ideas to get just this screen without security? Thanks!

So I'm not understanding. I use that app and when I'm out of the house I have a PIN, when I'm at home, I have the ring lock with unlock and camera options.
Could you elaborate? What lock screen are you seeing when you're on home WiFi?

That's the weird thing...none at all. It just goes straight to my home screens. When I go to Security settings while at home (with Unlock with WiFi on), because PIN lock has been temporarily disabled, I cannot specify any lock screen settings.
By any chance would this be a ROM issue? Are you running AOKP?

Hmm, I'm thinking so... I'm on stock 4.0.4.
I'm at home with WiFi right now and when I go to Settings > Security I'm able to select what type of unlock I want. I can select "none" and it does what you describe, and I can go back to "slide" and it goes back to normal. Disable WiFi and it goes right back to a PIN. Enable WiFi it goes back to "slide".
Seems like a mix of the ROM and maybe the app not working properly?
Do you have Exchange mail setup which are you device administrator?
Thought maybe that the unlock with WIFI app interfers with the minimum requirement of the device administrator.

No Exchange or any IT restrictions at all and I'm admin. I'll post this in the AOKP thread and see if I get any luck there. Thanks!

hi. i'm the developer of Unlock With WiFi. you can make the slide to unlock screen appear while the phone is unlocked. while your phone is connected to wifi and unlocked, go to your security settings and choose "slide" for the lock screen type. if you can't change the setting, then it may be a rom issue. i use CM9, and there's no problem.

Thanks. I hadn't realized I needed to enable the slide lockscreen since it was listed under "security" (I don't see it as being secure in any way). I figured everything under security meant some form of passcode=/ Up and running now, thanks for the awesome app btw!

Is there any way to get a hotspot toggle widget to work on the AT&T optimus G pro?
I do have a plan that allows tethering and my phone is rooted, however the toggle widget that worked fine on my note fails to initialize the hotspot on this phone (though it will disable it).
nope. Had my question up for a few days with no good responses. Hotspot might grab someone easier than WAP though so who knows.

No luck, I get the same error as I did with hotspot toggle which is what I normally use.
The specific error is a white triangle with a red exclamation point which says "Tethering Failed Tethering is not allowed for downloaded apps"
HD widgets has a widget u can assign to anything but i havent seen one that turns it on or off in one click, only ever takes u to the hotspot settings so u can turn it on or off

That's what I have at the moment, though you don't need any app to do that, you just add a shortcut, shortcut > settings shortcut > mobile hotspot, but it's a pain having to do 2 steps for what should only take one.
Is there any root method to disable the at&t tethering plan check? I'm betting that's the only thing that's causing it to not work and if I can disable that check it should work fine.
Isn't that what the existing fix does? Eliminate the check?

Ooh, I'll try that out and hopefully I can use the toggle afterwards. It's so annoying that they have it set up that you need to have a rooted phone and change setting just to use a toggle for something I pay for.
That fix is meant to allow tethering without paying for it (which is what I've done) but even after that change I have not found a way to toggle that setting directly. One of those things that may never change without a new ROM....

Damn, well that sucks, I guess I won't bother doing that then.
I would like to know how is your experience with using VPN on mi9se. I have setup surfshark VPN app on my mi9se to be always on. But I'm very disappointed with the performance. The phone just slows down to a point that it becomes useless unless I disable the VPN.
These are the settings I have setup :
Battery optimization : No restrictions
Always on enabled under VPN settings.
Background start enabled
Auto start enabled
App locked in recents screen
Mobile data disabled during screen off set to disabled.
With these similar settings the same app runs excellent on my oneplus 5t.
Is anyone using VPN with this phone? How have you set it up and what's your experience with the phone speed?

No problems with PIA. I'm not using always on, I enable it when I need it.
Even though I am not using PIA (i have expressvpn), but it seems to slow the phone down with their native app, but openvpn seems to make it a little better. Also more consistent connection.

I am also a Surfshark user. It works well on Mi9SE and I haven't face any problem yet. You should check, maybe the problem is something else.
