Screen Problems - HTC One X

This is utterly annoying. Whenever I put my phone on charge the screen seems to lock-up. Well, I say lock-up, but a better word for use would probably be messes up.
Basically when trying to lift the Lock Ring out of the Lockscreen I'll have to do it like 6 times. But it's inconsistent. For example I'm using my phone now with the charger in, not an issue.
Has anyone else experienced anything that even comes close to this with regards to the screen?

Yeah I have this problem too, try pressing the power button twice then try again, seems to work for me.

Thanks, at least I'm not the only one! Was getting ready to take it back for a minute then.
It's most annoying during gaming.

It's a software bug, not a screen problem as the title states.

Cheers.

Replace your charger.
Sent from my HTC One X using XDA

yap..always use original charger.. if still got the issue you can try to replace the charger..

Use a quality charger that is atleast rated at 700mA or higher. Also plugging it to an outlet that doesn't share other heavy appliances to prevent line noise.
Also sometimes even stock chargers can be faulty.

I suffered the same problem and thought I was the only one, sometimes it's absolutely fine and other times it just won't work. I initially resolved the issue by unplugging the phone from the charger and then plugging it back in again. Then I realised that if you press the power button to turn the screen off and then on again it seems to resolve the issue. It's a pain in the ass but at least it's not a major fault

It's got nothing to do with the charger, happens on 4 different chargers I've tried.
One of them being the original

are you using the original charger and cable? I had a similar problem with my vibrant. It only happened with cheap tired party cable/chargers. The phone was fine.it was the touch screen that was sluggish. I suspect a stay charge or ground effecting the capacitive measurements of the screen
thus the sluggishness.

Same here. I'm using original charger. I think it's the outlet. Faulty grounding. If I will switch the outlet the problem goes away.

Interesting you mention the outlet- I have had the same experience with erratic touch screen behavior when plugged in, and have had it with other devices including non-Samsung, but it seems to be random. But it happened today and I remember I was plugged into an outlet upside down. WOnder if it in fact did mess with the grounding or something and led to the strange touch screen behavior. Will try a few times and see if I can replicate and narrow down a constant....
I have noticed it as well. After seeing your post i realized it is only when plugged into the wall.
I've had this problem over multiple phones & multiple chargers.
I have the same problem, can't even unlock the phone while charging...

Erratic touchscreen while charging.

Has anyone else noticed this on the E4GT? I had this problem on my Evo when running Cyanogenmod, but not Sense. I've tried both the Sammy charger that came with it and my old HTC charger.
While charging, the touchscreen becomes erratic. It will input various places nowhere near where you're touching or sometimes not at all. It only happens while charging, remove the device from the charger and it goes back to normal.
Yes, there's a gigantic thread about this already. The gist of it is our touch screens are very finicky and if you use a non-voltage regulated charger (like inexplicably the one that comes with it) the screen will go nuts on it while charging.
I bought a Blackberry charger for it and it works perfectly while charging.
I'm going to punch a baby if I see another one of these threads!

Yes, sometimes it does.

Same here, every time i plug the charger in
Thanks, how long you had them for? Just trying to decide if this is a separate issue from the constant screen flicker, or if its just a sign that eventually its gonna flicker all the time again
Sent from my HTC One X using XDA
Maybe it's a voltage regulator that's the problem for the flickering screens?
There was somebody who said HTC had confirmed that to chitter chatter (not sure if that's the correct company name) that it was faulty voltage regulators, although the HTC support just says to get it replaced without further info apart from 'we are investigating'

Personally I think even if it flickers when plugged in there's a hardware fault, ie my dhd never flickers when I plug it in...

I was thinking this but I'm not too sure, I was wondering if the one x charger would have higher power output due to the beastlyness of the phone. I however never use it because it's short...use an old blackberry charger seems to take about the same amount of time to charge tho

Generally, those two circumstances tend to occur simultaneously!

Yup! Do NOT play games while charging...it is a sure way of pushing the thermal limits!

No, its pretty much an industry standard that micro usb chargers run 1A @ 5v
If the charger is really old it could be 800mA but not likely, easy to check though, just check between the pins on the plug

oh so its not overheating?
It's definitely overheating. I was watching an hd movie using sw code and charging (I had about 20% battery, so it was taking the whole amp), and the light began flashing. I quit the mx player and saw battery widget reporting 49 degrees Celsius and battery status was 'overheating' I have to mention though that I had my phone placed onto a pillow, so no chance of dissipating the heat whatsoever. I presume the same happens when you play a game and hold your phone. My advice is just to wait a while for the battery to go up enough, so the charger begins the slow cycle - then you'll be charging with a few hundred mA and it will be easier for the phone to handle the extra heat.

Well when the led flashed like that for me I was playing shadowgun and the battery dropped a percent over the time I was playing with it charging the whole time, but like someone said above both will happen. The phone was hot for sure
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium
Well I used to have overheat problems as well but I fixed it by doing a hard reset. My phone doesn't overheat as it did before the reset and I can easily play games on the phone while charging. Even after a hard reset, my phone easily hits 43 degrees though. Just thought to share this with you guys.

I used my touchpad’s charger which is a 2A charger and it charges twice the speed. So you can try using any tablet's charger for a fast charge..
