This has the rom download and kernels and what not... Not sure if that's what would be needed to get this done...

seems like a need a palm pre to get to the webOS files, is there a way for anyone to pull the system files from their webOS device using debugger mode or something similar to android's way of pulling the system.

you should be able to download WebOS Doctor... it has everything needed to totally wipe the device and reinstall everything fresh... so it would have all the system files in it.
you should be able to find it somewhere other than palms site. on palms page you need to put in your phones serial to download it.
if you end up needing it, i would be happy to download it and host it so you can grab it quick. (wife has a pre plus).
the newest version is 1.4.5.
Hey, found a link for the latest WebOS doctor that camalus was talking about, direct download link for the file is http://palm.cdnetworks.net/rom/pre/...1351rod/webosdoctorp101ewwverizonwireless.jar
and link to the Webos doctor site that hosts all doctor files for all WebOS devices is
http://www.webos-internals.org/wiki/Webos_Doctor_Versions#Pre_Plus_3
..................hopefully that should be enough to get started!!

I had a Pre Plus for a while and my biggest beef, besides crappy hardware, was the lack of apps.
One of the advantages over Android...an awesome Facebook app worth of praise. They did a good job.

Hey ID I had a Palm Pre Plus for like 29 before I got my Dinc. I loved the card UI, you can have like 50 things going on at once. Phone would get hot and battery would go but it was a nice OS. The Acer test video you made reminded me of it a little.
Hi,
First off, you guys rock. These forums really bring the community together and include some of the brightest minds this century has to offer.
Basically, I'm trying to get a foothold on the Android game scene and am at a bit of a loss of what to do next.
I've written a free game and couple of live wallpapers (see signature below - originally released 19 Jun 2011), which I am spending all the time I can developing. These have have had a number of downloads - but nothing spectacular.
I don't have any funds to throw into any advertising (I was hoping some sales would raise some to do this).
I'm not getting much in the way of feedback either - which I am at a loss of how to encourage. I don't have any willing beta-testers that are willing to work for appreciation.
So, I'm either doing something wrong, not doing something I should - or everyone is being polite because my apps are so poor they aren't worth commenting on (which I would take on the chin as I am constantly trying to improve them).
Have I released them into the market too early?
Or am I simply being impatient and should shut up and keep slogging away?
Can anyone please point me in the right direction? I really want to make this work as games writing may be a lot of work but it is way more fun!
Cheers,
Paul
If ur wanting a tester let me know mate ill get a few people to try it out

festa20,
That would be great! I'd really appreciate it.
I'll put something together to send to you later if that's ok?
I can't really offer any compensation at this stage apart from my gratitude, but that may change when the money comes rolling in.
Cheers,
Paul

Depending on what kind of game it is, I'd like to help test.
I'm somewhat of a dedicated gamer across different platforms, but I'm focused on games that do not have a storyline to follow (ie., no RPG games). Action games and puzzles are my forte.

It's a top-down tower defence game. There is definitely a level of action and strategy involved.
It's my first android/java game and I'm trying to improve as I learn. I hope you like what you see so far and maybe even see some potential.
Ver 1.2 of Livestock Vs The Undead is on the market (see sig below) - so if you wouldn't mind checking that out before I can get a beta to you (hopefully in the next week or so). There have quite a few tweaks since that version, but it'll give you an idea of what it's about.
Many thanks,
Paul

Hey,
Just moved to Watertown, NY and was wondering if anyone local would be interested in joining a group of Android enthusiasts I'm trying to get started. Not entirely sure what the purpose could be, maybe make money buying, fixing, and selling phones/tablets. Or help people fix their devices. Or we could even develop our own ROM.
I'm not sure if anything like this has been done before, but I like to help people and love learning about Android. Maybe I'm not the only one? Let me know if you're interested or have any ideas! Thanks!

Hey guys. Now that the SGIII is out, I fear we will loose great developers to the bigger and better devices. This is the reason I want to start developing for our SGH-T989's. There's only one problem... I'M A NOOB! Well I've been rooting my phones since I got my first Andriod device, the Samsung Galaxy S 4G. Although that's just because I've trolled around just reading threads. So I'd like a little guidance in the right direction. Remeber I'm completely new at this. The only thing I know I need is that I need Linux. Besides that I know nothing else. Thanks guys for all the time and effort you put into providing us with awesome roms, kernels, etc.

I'm in the same boat. Unless you have a formal education in programming, expect a tough road. I know some c/c++ but most of my knowledge is in web development languages like PHP, JavaScript, etc.
I successfully built and flashed my own CM9 a few days ago but have yet to get into the customization. Baby steps I guess. Good luck to you though.

Well I'll say I would like to start myself. I keep looking around have all the bottom end fundamentals but have no clue as to what to do. I can read on Google til wee hrs of the night but it makes no sense being the word NOOB is carried on my back.
Either way, all I've done so far is download all the req software that dsixda recommends to do. Kitchen, cygwin, jdk, and sdk. Now after all of that I'm stuck in limbo. All the research I've done gives terminology that I don't understand. Everyone says its super easy but yet we have maybe 30 devs packed up doing roms for us. I know for a fact there's more than 3000 T-Mobile users for this device and that's not to include the very alike SR, telus, and what not.
So I agree, we need things simplified in order for us to understand (even) basics. That being said as I asked a few ppl in this forum already, I don't mind getting my feet wet but I sure in hell dont wanna drown at the 3 foot section of the pool either

Go to the android and android dev forums. You will find nice Rom and kernel tutorials to mess with. The rest comes with trying out others hacks and mods and seeing what those do. Then down to log cats and so forth to see how an application or module plays. And if you want to try your own mod, it's too what others have done or code Google to see what a lib, api, or module can do for you.

Well it's pretty much setting up all the requirements like computer paths and folders. I use Ubuntu, then after getting all of it setup, you repo sync the source and wait a couple days there are simplified English friendly tutorials. Using a search engine is a skill. ^-^ choose search terms wisely. And use quotes.

I tried the dsixda kitchen route. It's more of a "look what I did" kind of thing. I quickly jumped that ship and set up Ubuntu so I could get my repo on. I have complete AOKP and CM9 source but I have no idea where to start with it. I'm sort of treading water at this point until I find the right information to get this train rolling.

I also have a partition set up for Ubuntu. Issue is I can't get it to connect to the internet. Then again I'm on a modded dell studio. Like I said, I got all the start up software. All I need is someone yo guide of how to set up. I cant do it if I'm on Ubuntu due to lack of connection. So if anything , let's make a thread to help each other out. ( not that I would be much help) but once I learn something I can pass along info to the next person. We all learn and want to share

I run Ubuntu through Virtualbox. It works great and you don't have to deal with boot loaders and such. I've had no internet connection issues either. After that, following one of the guides for setting Ubuntu up for Android is advisable. I've been through the Android Developers Guide, the AOKP ICS Guide ( Jelly Bean Guide ) and the CM9 Guide. Any of these will get you the source code and a working, flashable zip. Beyond that, at least for now, I'm not much help.

Thats a start tho... so here we got it started, let's lend a hand to each other and let's start doing this. Myself, I'm jealous of the SR forum cuz it seems they are helping each other build amongst themselves which is what I think we should be doing here as well. So to get virtual box and get sum research on it. Will come back here after I get all situated. Once again thanks for opening this up
edit: as I make any progress I will post up and let you guys know how Im coming along. on my laptop now about to get this rolling.
reedit: well cant do much, my set up doesnt support it. i will find a way tho. best believe it. even if it cost me to get another laptop

How classic is this. I have a pretty solid idea and I've always been on the business side of things. Need a technical co-founder. I think I have a really friggn solid idea, willing to give up a percentage of my company that doesn't yet exist..if we can arrange a deal.
I already have detailed mockups designed and general wire frames. I want to be primarily in charge of the UI design stuff and the business side of things, but this is going nowhere unless I find help. I recently graduated, have an unrealistic sense of how much work this will be and I have little money to throw at this. However, I'm as driven as they come and I think this is a legitimately good app/business.
It involves the local sharing economy and craigslist.
If interested at all, please let me know. Again, I'm naive to most of you, I already know that much... But I also know that it does no good to write and plan ideas out without ever trying something out in real life. I'm sure a genius kid programmer developer can crank this stuff out in a weekend without even trying. Anyone trying to jump on board?
