I recently bought a used Epic 4gt, with a bad ESN, I have a GS1 and all i had to do was copy all my info to the new GS2. Im currently on boost my GS1 works fine so it was going to be pretty easy. I repaired the esn and flashed everything to GS2. Everything works except 3G. I tried everything I can think on from going to stock el26 to el29 to custom roms and back to stock. Tried using open DNS and changing APN to boost, with no luck. I have the 3g icon with up/down arrows and they flash. Under #data AAA-passes, it has an IP address, I get both 1x and 3G but when it comes to loading browser page or Google Play its no go. Tired different modems with no luck. I know my donor phone and GS1 are working just fine, with the same info applied as does the GS2. I dont know what else to try, I mean I get text and send text and make and receive calls, just no data coming in even with 3g icon present. If anyone can help me it would be great and will donate with paypal. GS2 currently sitting on EL13 modem with rogue 1.4.1 kernal and el29 TNZ blend 3.0 rom.
[email protected] in case i dont see the reply on the thread.
You've tried switching just the modems too right?

Problem Solved wheww
Yes, did try just the modem from EG30 to EL29 EG31 FC07 and FC14. *note the best signal i got was from EL29 and EL13, but EL13 seemed to make my epic4gt act different but thats just me.
So heres what happened, since i live in a brick house i get really ****ty signal, for some reason but out side i get like 2 bars to 3. Anyways all was copied correctly but since the signal was weak the whole time i was trying to get it to work and didnt make any progress i ended up tweaking my settings in qpst. so that that broke my 3g and when i went back still no progress so i was stumped.
the next day started fresh and decided to call boost and have them refresh my account which ended getting a new msid and getting a sprint rep error 16. after that i had to reprogram my incognito and gs1 back to working condition. and also try to get my gs2 working but this time i had to go back and forth out side to get a signal and see if the error 67 stopped from coming up.
had to get flash prl 60681 to be able to update the prl and update the profile on my gs1, same thing with the gs2. after numerous attempt's i got it working finally took forever to lock a good 3g signal. still slow even in good area but i guess thats how gs2's are. this was suppose to be a smooth flash turned to nightmare but all in all good experience.
if anyone needs help let me know i think i can be of some help since this incident.
currently on Calkulin's_E4GT_ROM_v3.0 rogue 1.4.1 el29 all working now.
I personally love fd19 modem, it works by far the best for me. But every phone is different. Feel free to try later fed modems.
Another thought of mine was, of you go to your phone dialer, enter ##8272# you should pop up with a menu. If you have your msl number you can change some setting. If you click edit > others > multimedia and change all the proxy values to 0.0.0.0 that may help with speeds. There is a legit walk through on how to do it but this is all just off the top of my head.

Yea, I had already zeroed out the proxy settings. dont know if it helped but i did it anyways.
I'll try other modems as soon as I get a good feel on el29 and might give el13 another try.
thx for the tip tho

Alright so I have a Samsung Epic running the ACS 1.1.0 rom with ext4 w/ journaling enabled, EC05 Modem with PRL version at 60676.
Problem is that for a while now I've noticed that texts would randomly show the wrong date stamp ie usually ahead a few hours OR I might not just get them at all. I've looked around seen that you should update your PRL and profile to fix that problem, but I've done so and it hasn't seemed to resolve itself. I was running the phone on a PRL 60675 before and didn't see a change. I did run the update of the profile but it doesn't give any sort of success message or indicate anything. Sometimes it'll give a network connection failed or similar type message.
Any ideas at to what this could be. I'm tempted to flash the phone back to stock and run with that, but I really like the ACS rom and have no other ideas what I can do.
When im roaming, and i get a text message, the timestamp is always 6 hours ahead. Its a roaming problem, and im stock unrooted.
[sig]Typed by restless thumbs, that are too tired to help hold my bacon sammiches[sig]
pretty sure this is a tower issue and not a phone issue. that used to happen to me on AT&T, and it was always roaming.
Yeah at this point it seems to be an issue with not the rom. I just flashed to the newest stock gingerbread release from ACS and I just got a text message timestamped 4 hours in the future ;|
Best option is to what? Call sprint? Is it more of an issue with reception in my area or something like that? I'm in the middle of the DFW and I fail to see how I can be roaming unless I'm 4 floors under a parking garage.
I would definitely let sprint know. Sounds like there may be a cell site with a bad timezone setting.
I am somewhat new to the epic scene, and had a few general questions that i have searched for over the forums here but get such a broad variety of answer im unsure of what is true and what is not.
Basically, my phone is set up with the following :
Firmware Version : 2.3.5
Baseband : S700.0.5S.EG22
Kernel : 2.6.35.7-g67f7514
Build : CleanGB.b13.EI22
I haven't updated to the latest CleanGB (which i plan on doing when i get home today)
But the problem is as follows:
My data connections suck..... I have replaced the phone 3 times (in less than a month) I have updated the PLS, changed the wimax settings with the MSL code, and had sprint flash it as well. But my connection speeds are so messed up.... I get 4-12 mb's Down, but only like .2-.8 up.... Can anyone recommend a GB build (if the updated one of CGB is better that's fine too) and kernel/modem to use in combo with each other that may help with this problem? It doesnt seem to matter what build i use, they all seem to have this issue.
Thanks alot!
Try updating your modem. You need to Odin the EC05 modem then flash the EC05toEI22.zip. If you think it is software related as opposed to Sprint network problems (i'd bet on that) then Odin in stock EC05 and test it there.

Thank you. I will try that when i get home as well.
Is the wimax and wireless running on the same thing? The reason i ask is becuase when i connect to a wireless network it will do 10+mb down and usually 5+ up.....

They all go through the modem. But 4G is dependent on Clearwire's network nearest you and wifi is dependent on your router switching speed and network speed.

Gotcha thanks!
So after having to flash my phone about 15 times.... i thought i had broken something, i flashed a stock rom, them CWM..... then black screen and wouldnt power up. So after messing with the phone itsself for abit i finally got it to cycle again. But now im Running ASC/Samurai with the ec05 to ei22 modem. Runs so much better, and my wimax upload has almost doubled.
Thanks again for the help.
So everything was fine on my Evo (running one of decks roms with a ICS theme) until the screen went out friday night. Saturday I took it in and it was repaired in about 2 hours (very impressed). In between I activated an old back up phone to get me by. When I picked up my Evo the tech had reactivated it and it was ready to go. But when I got to work I had no data. No internet service at all. Calls and Texts were fine, but nothing else. I made sure mobile data was checked, (couldn't update PRL cause of the AOSP rom), but I did a battery pull, rebooted, then I decided to nandroid back to a previous sense rom. Once I booted up still nothing. after about 2 hours all of a sudden I was getting emails, and voxer messages....I had data back!!! But when I tried 4G nothing happened (stays on obtaining IP). Hoping a newer stock based rom would help I flashed the new swag ON rom. Loving the rom...everything is great, but still no 4g. My last resort is to unroot and go back to sprint. I downloaded the wimaxx checker and it says I have my RSA keys so I know those are there. I'm sorry if this is a bit long winded, but I thought being as detailed as possible would help. Any suggestions would be great. The members here have helped me through lots of trouble shooting in the past.
Should also be noted that I attempted PRL update again with no luck, and I live in San Antonio which is a solid 4g area for me.
Good thinking with Wimax Checker - That's usually the first line of defense.
It sounds like because you cannot update PRL or Data Profile that there may have been an issue in the reactivation by the tech at the Sprint store. With that said, I know I'm in the Philadelphia region with good 4G but occasionally there will be a day or so of PRL/Profile update "outages" where I cannot update. I usually will verify with a family member's phone (also on Sprint). Perhaps try having someone you know in the area with Sprint and an android phone try a profile and/or PRL update to make sure it's not just the system being unresponsive.
Ok I will try that tonight and reply back. I had my g/f's evo running decks rom try her 4g and it worked perfectly so I know its my phone. I'll see if she can update. Either way is there some sort of combo pack I can flash for profile and prl??? I'm not too sure how that would work.
Here is the latest Radios-Wimax-PRI-NV Combo pack Click HERE
Ok I flashed an older Wimaxx since the one I had was up to date(did a check in TE). Once flashed and booted up still no 4g. Is it possible that this could be a hardware issue since everything else works? Like the actual antenna is busted? Just hard for me to think that since it was working fine before my screen went out. I always have 4g service at home and work. And my g/f's is working fine she has the evo and she has sprint.

I am on GleanGB 1.1.2 with the EL30 modem.
Yesterday I was out and noticed I kept getting dropped calls. I did not think much about it. Today I am at home where I generally get 6 bars and have no trouble. I am in an excellent sprint area. Today the calls either drop after a few minutes, or I get an error message "Signal Lost".
I have not added any new programs on the phone. I have tried turning the phone off and on, and also bulled the battery.
I do not know if this matters, but Text messages have been fine, I can send them and receive them.
Probably is network maintenance on your area. If it don't clear up in a few days try odining to stock EL30 and see if that makes a difference.

I've had horrible data speeds etc since i switched to the EL30 modem, so I went to FB15 last night and so far, better over all for me. Who knows if any other modem will work better for you, but EL30 just wasn't cutting it for me.
Can I switch to other modems on CleanGB?
That happened to me .. I called sprint and the said they were doing maintenance .. they lady said it would be fixed in a few hours but it actually took a few days!

You can change to any modem you want and it won't impact your rom at all.
All right I have a few question I figured I'd ask in one thread they pertain to one another I guess.
1. (blazer rom 4.0) So last night I flashed this rom because i have not given GB a chance everything went well flashed fine......but when I booted the phone everything came up but I had no service. not a empty signal display it had the circle with the slash through it no service. under about phone it said I had no number, no prl, no nothing. after doing a shutdown and restart service would come on periodically and the it would go back to what I had just mentioned.
2. (prl and profile update) so the whole reason I flashed I flashed back was to update my prl and profile. but for some reason I can not do either. for this one i just flashed back stock el29. It would say and show that I had a 3g signal but everytime I the instant I would hit update the signal would vanish and 5 seconds later i would get (error: no connection) thried this with 3g,4g,wifi no luck.
this also happen when I was talking to a sprint rep setting my epic up, it took an hour and half to get my phone updated, no bueno.
do we have prl zips for are phone? and where, if so?
and any help with the blazer rom would be great. From the little bit I messed with it, it was a very smooth and snappy rom.

There are no prl zips that IM AWARE of. I'm pretty sure there are none! Idk try to see if sprint repair can find something wrong with it! Or you can try to flash a different modem. Sorry about your issues
