I am on GleanGB 1.1.2 with the EL30 modem.
Yesterday I was out and noticed I kept getting dropped calls. I did not think much about it. Today I am at home where I generally get 6 bars and have no trouble. I am in an excellent sprint area. Today the calls either drop after a few minutes, or I get an error message "Signal Lost".
I have not added any new programs on the phone. I have tried turning the phone off and on, and also bulled the battery.
I do not know if this matters, but Text messages have been fine, I can send them and receive them.
Probably is network maintenance on your area. If it don't clear up in a few days try odining to stock EL30 and see if that makes a difference.

I've had horrible data speeds etc since i switched to the EL30 modem, so I went to FB15 last night and so far, better over all for me. Who knows if any other modem will work better for you, but EL30 just wasn't cutting it for me.
Can I switch to other modems on CleanGB?
That happened to me .. I called sprint and the said they were doing maintenance .. they lady said it would be fixed in a few hours but it actually took a few days!

You can change to any modem you want and it won't impact your rom at all.

My phone acts very weird and I don't know if it's normal or not. My phone's signal jumps between full bars and then 1 or no bars when I surf the web or send a picture message. It's downright annoying. Sure, it usually sends and receives data, but the fluctuating signal is getting to be beyond annoying. Anyone else having this problem? I'm on the current version of the Frozen Syndicate ROM.

Welcome to Sprint.
We all would like a valid reason besides spring saying "were currently fixing our antenna's."

What he said. This is very common on the Epic. Happens to me a lot =\
Running SRF 1.1.0 as well.
Someone please correct me if I am wrong, but I thought it had to do with the modem builds with the epic. I don't think it is a Sprint universal issue, because I did not have this issue on any of my previous sprint devices (that I remember).

Correct, it's the modem. That's why you see people on the forum complaining about the EC05 modem sometimes because it has signal bar issues, or stuff like that.
My phone does the same thing, even if it's sitting and NOT moving. Even my data speeds fluctuate sooooo much, it sucks. Sometimes Youtube will work great, other times they won't even start to load.
Hmmm...
It probably is the tower. Could be the modem to blame as well. Here in my house, I connect to my Airrave. 98% of the time, I have full bars with a stable connection with relatively consistent fast 3G speeds. The 2%, I get some wonky lag and usually then go and reset the Airrave. Everything works fine after I reset it.
I was just out of town in Vegas over the weekend and I had MAJOR problems sending MMS's, highly erratic data speeds, fluctuating signal, and overall connection problems. That was even when I wasn't holding the phone. Voice data and sending SMS's were very reliable, but forget sending MMS's or having good 4G speeds. I'm starting to think 4G is a drain both battery and money wise. Using 4G is like driving a classic car: It doesn't always start up, they're hard to find, they're finicky; but when it works properly, it's badass!
Random question: Is there an app that has a status bar for sending SMS and MMS's like the iPhone? For example, on the iPhone when you send an SMS or MMS, there's a status bar that shows the status of that message. If it's going out or lagging, etc. Is there an app that does that? I think that's a cool feature. Handcent just has a circular pinwheel, but stops when it goes out.
I would think it has to do with the modem as well. I have an EB13 based ROM, but an EC05 modem. I've noticed similar things, just not very frequently. It's strange...I'll have "great" signal, then for no reason, it'll dorp to 1x coverage and that SUCKS.
I'm thinking of going back to the EB13 modem as most people seem to think it's quite a bit better than the EC05 modem. I do think even that varies from phone to phone though, so I think it's mostly trial and error until you find what works best for you.
I have a fantastic update. Well it is for me, and might be for all f you also. Last night I decided to odin the EC05 modem again. And guess what? My signals beeen great!! Its always constant! No 4bars then zero in same spot no more!!
I already had the EC05 modem before I decided to do this. I recommmend odin'in you modem again!!
BIG NOTE*** I used the phone location for the modem.tar NOT pda.

I am having issues as well, i haven't been able to send any MMS for the past 24 hours. Regular texts go through just fine.
I'm having big problems with this recently in a location where I usually get very strong signal with 4G. Can anyone point me to step by step instructions of how to safely and correctly flash just the modem file?

Flash in Odin.
Alright so I have a Samsung Epic running the ACS 1.1.0 rom with ext4 w/ journaling enabled, EC05 Modem with PRL version at 60676.
Problem is that for a while now I've noticed that texts would randomly show the wrong date stamp ie usually ahead a few hours OR I might not just get them at all. I've looked around seen that you should update your PRL and profile to fix that problem, but I've done so and it hasn't seemed to resolve itself. I was running the phone on a PRL 60675 before and didn't see a change. I did run the update of the profile but it doesn't give any sort of success message or indicate anything. Sometimes it'll give a network connection failed or similar type message.
Any ideas at to what this could be. I'm tempted to flash the phone back to stock and run with that, but I really like the ACS rom and have no other ideas what I can do.
When im roaming, and i get a text message, the timestamp is always 6 hours ahead. Its a roaming problem, and im stock unrooted.
[sig]Typed by restless thumbs, that are too tired to help hold my bacon sammiches[sig]
pretty sure this is a tower issue and not a phone issue. that used to happen to me on AT&T, and it was always roaming.
Yeah at this point it seems to be an issue with not the rom. I just flashed to the newest stock gingerbread release from ACS and I just got a text message timestamped 4 hours in the future ;|
Best option is to what? Call sprint? Is it more of an issue with reception in my area or something like that? I'm in the middle of the DFW and I fail to see how I can be roaming unless I'm 4 floors under a parking garage.
I would definitely let sprint know. Sounds like there may be a cell site with a bad timezone setting.
I stopped receiving text messages. I have to make a call and connect... When the call connects my text messages drop. I was running the EL29 modem with Miui. I reflashed modems to EL13 and Caulks rom... Still the same problem. If I use roam control and roam the messages come in fine.
I have been on Miui for weeks and have not tinkered with the phone... This has literally come up out of the blue.
Any ideas?

Not the exact same problem but I'm in Kansas and my wifes is receiving/sending slowly. Plus I'm receiving the same message twice at times (thought we were finally over that issue).

Do you have an airave?
I am having problems sending and receiving texts as well.
Running Team Rogue's 1.4.1 Kernel and Calk's 2.8.1 ROM. I thought it was a google voice thing but it seems as if other people are having this issue.
I am on chat with Sprint right now. Will keep you guys posted as to what they tell me.
**EDIT**
The sprint tech re-provisioned my text services (whatever that means) - he says to try again in 20-30 mins to see if it fixes the problem. Will post a followup.

Yes.... But it is happening outside of my airave coverage.
UPDATE:
Re-provisioning did nothing. Texts are still randomly being lost
Was having this issue the last couple days while running calk 2.8.1 w/ EK02 modem. Upped to EL29, left phone off for a while and finally updated profile, haven't had any issues the last 24 hours. No idea if any of that helped or just coincidence heh.

I've been having the problem lately where I can no longer receive text messages, from anyone. My text messages are still received however.
I have only experienced this while running Calkulin's E4GT v2.9.2 EL29 with no other modification. The first time I experienced this, the only problem I could think of was that I did not use the Format all zip file.
So I went through the flashing process again and got some strange force close on google maps and Sprint tv. I initially flashed to fc22 modem, then back after kobridges post concerning sprint tv. I did update profile and prl after each modem flash.
And now I cannot receive text messages. Any ideas?

Obviously. But seeing as this will be the third attempt with hopefully different results, I am hoping for an insight concerning the cause of this circumstance.
I had the exact same problem when I installed EG4T ROM. Tried many of the same thing you tried, along with many others.
Long story short, I called Sprint and the had to add my phone back to the other carries (att, version, tmo) switching map/database. Took about 3 hours once the request was put in. Text messaging has worked like a charm ever since.
Hope this helps...

Another issue I discovered was lack of GPS functionality; first only on wireless networks and then even with the GPS sensor activated.
I might should mention that I activated the phone in south Memphis/north MS then went back to work in New Orleans. I had the issue in both locales. While on the phone with Sprint, they mentioned that they have dropped some capacity in NOLA due to lower population.
I came back to north MS finally had the time to take my phone to a Sprint store. Of course as soon as I handed it over, it started receiving text messages. They tested it, whatever that means and found it to be fully functional.
The Sprint guy basically said he thinks it's a network problem. He was cool about the whole thing. I told him I had it rooted, he responded that he has seen rooted phones overcome some network problems before.
So I came home, rooted, flashed calkulins el29 and I still have text messaging.
oh well, thanks for reading. I hope this all can help someone.
I recently bought a used Epic 4gt, with a bad ESN, I have a GS1 and all i had to do was copy all my info to the new GS2. Im currently on boost my GS1 works fine so it was going to be pretty easy. I repaired the esn and flashed everything to GS2. Everything works except 3G. I tried everything I can think on from going to stock el26 to el29 to custom roms and back to stock. Tried using open DNS and changing APN to boost, with no luck. I have the 3g icon with up/down arrows and they flash. Under #data AAA-passes, it has an IP address, I get both 1x and 3G but when it comes to loading browser page or Google Play its no go. Tired different modems with no luck. I know my donor phone and GS1 are working just fine, with the same info applied as does the GS2. I dont know what else to try, I mean I get text and send text and make and receive calls, just no data coming in even with 3g icon present. If anyone can help me it would be great and will donate with paypal. GS2 currently sitting on EL13 modem with rogue 1.4.1 kernal and el29 TNZ blend 3.0 rom.
[email protected] in case i dont see the reply on the thread.
You've tried switching just the modems too right?

Problem Solved wheww
Yes, did try just the modem from EG30 to EL29 EG31 FC07 and FC14. *note the best signal i got was from EL29 and EL13, but EL13 seemed to make my epic4gt act different but thats just me.
So heres what happened, since i live in a brick house i get really ****ty signal, for some reason but out side i get like 2 bars to 3. Anyways all was copied correctly but since the signal was weak the whole time i was trying to get it to work and didnt make any progress i ended up tweaking my settings in qpst. so that that broke my 3g and when i went back still no progress so i was stumped.
the next day started fresh and decided to call boost and have them refresh my account which ended getting a new msid and getting a sprint rep error 16. after that i had to reprogram my incognito and gs1 back to working condition. and also try to get my gs2 working but this time i had to go back and forth out side to get a signal and see if the error 67 stopped from coming up.
had to get flash prl 60681 to be able to update the prl and update the profile on my gs1, same thing with the gs2. after numerous attempt's i got it working finally took forever to lock a good 3g signal. still slow even in good area but i guess thats how gs2's are. this was suppose to be a smooth flash turned to nightmare but all in all good experience.
if anyone needs help let me know i think i can be of some help since this incident.
currently on Calkulin's_E4GT_ROM_v3.0 rogue 1.4.1 el29 all working now.
I personally love fd19 modem, it works by far the best for me. But every phone is different. Feel free to try later fed modems.
Another thought of mine was, of you go to your phone dialer, enter ##8272# you should pop up with a menu. If you have your msl number you can change some setting. If you click edit > others > multimedia and change all the proxy values to 0.0.0.0 that may help with speeds. There is a legit walk through on how to do it but this is all just off the top of my head.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using XDA
Yea, I had already zeroed out the proxy settings. dont know if it helped but i did it anyways.
I'll try other modems as soon as I get a good feel on el29 and might give el13 another try.
thx for the tip tho
