[Q] Network problem - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

So here I am. I'm using this forum so much and i've always found everything i need so i don't post often. But now i've a problem and i can't find out the solution.
So.. i've got a Nexus and use FoxHound ROM. I also use JuiceDefender. The problem is after a couple of times i wake the screen the network doesn't start.
I explain. I've got signal, i can receive messages and calls, but the network doesn't start. I can't access the internet. Neither market, or any app that uses mobile data. I've tried to disable Juice Defender, to manually reactivate the data, but i have to reboot and that's annoying. Any ideas?
Ah, WiFi works properly and so does bluetooth. Thanks.

Hold 'Power' button and activate 'Data Network Mode' if available.

I don't have that option.

so you disable and uninstall Juice Defender, then reboot, and it still does this?

I haven't tried to uninstall Juice Defender but if i disable it, the network doesn't restart. The fact is that if i don't use juice defender the network doesn't go off.

Uninstall JD and then check if the problems still persists or not!

The problem disapper as soon as i disable juice defender and reboot, but i think the problem is the network doesn't turn on after a couple of times i turn it off.

So, you tried unistalling it, right?
Well, you must have checked the data network settings?
Do you have any other app that can block services like NQ Mobile Security?

So... the problem was Juice Defender lol. Unless you can reproduce the exact problem with JD uninstalled.

Don't ask why but now everything works fine..

Yeah JD is deff the problem here, that why I quit using it! It for some reason sucks on the GN. Only use I have for it now is when Im at festivals and it would prop be just as easy to enable/disable airplane mode manually.

Pandora stops playing after 5-8 minutes with screen off

I don't know if anyone has had this problem before or not but when I play pandora, siriusxm, or any internet streaming service it will stop playing after about 5-8 minutes. it seems like the phone is going to sleep and turns off the data even though I have the enable always-on mobile data checked. is there another setting that I missed or is this an ongoing problem.
edit: I should mention that I do not have it charging when this happens, and it is only when I stream over mobile data and it doesn't matter if I have the enable always-on mobile data checked or not.
I have this problem too
-------------------------------------
Sent via the XDA Tapatalk App
Mine does not do this
I listen to Pandora all of the time to and from work and never have this happen, but I will make a point of trying to cause it and see what it takes to fix it.
Do you maybe have a task killer that's the culprit?
do you have "Enable always-on mobile data" unchecked to save battery? When i did this I experienced similar issues.

as I stated in my first post I have the enable always-on mobile data checked, so it should be always on(theoretically). I have a task killer but it isn't set to auto kill anything when the screen turns off, and the app doesn't close or anything, it just loses data connection about 5-8 minutes after the screen turns off all I have to do is turn the power back on and it will start playing after about 10-20 seconds but that can get annoying.
Are you using wifi? If so I believe by default the phone turns off wifi if the screen if off after 10 minutes or so. That would cause it.

my problem is specific to mobile data, I don't use wifi much so I don't know if the same problem exist while using wifi
I have always on mobile data off and I don't experience these issues.
I used Pandora all the the time too, no problem. You aren't going to want to hear this, but, I'd factory reset, put Pandora on ONLY, and try it. If OK, load one or 2 programs at a time until you find the culprit, and do the same for changing settings, change them slowly between testing.
I have this EXACT same problem too. I will be using Pandora on mobile data at the gym and after 4 or 5 songs the audio will stop. If I turn the screen on, the audio starts again. Pandora is still open so it is not an auto-kill thing. I am not using WiFi. I've gotten used to it but it is annoying.
It's definitely enable always on data.
I reenabled data always on. Haven't had a chance to try it just yet though.
2 thoughts - If you are using the audio plug, try a different one. I went through 3 as some would wiggle a little and hit the mic contact and cause the phone to go nuts, Pandora, media player, voice dialer... all started working.
Second - I received an update notice for Pandora yesterday. Try it.
yes, happens to me also. everyone here saying hard reset, or they don't have the problem, you're not understanding him. It's a known issue for HTC phones in general. when their screens go off they pretty much stop working about 75%.
I've had the tp, tp2, and incredible and everyone of them had this issue.
If you get the program called Smart Alarm Clock, it even says it's a firmware problem that when you turn the screen off sleep tracking will halt. (sleep tracking uses the G-sensor)
i'm telling you, i had the exact problem, as soon as i rechecked "enable always on mobile data", problem fixed.
well I hard reset my phone (in between rooting the thing) and I haven't had the problem come back yet. fingers crossed.
me and my room mate have this same problem with both of our Atrices. Neither one of ours has the "always on mobile data" option anywhere on the phone... what do we do?
seems simple enough, go find you a rooted incredible.....
jk
do you have a task killer on yours at all?
Do you use any kind of "battery saver" software?

[Q] Wifi and cell Reception stop working after screen is shut off?

When I turn off the screen of my phone, I lose my wifi and data connections. The icons of them in the status bar turn white rather than the usual green. The only way I have found to fix this is to put the phone in airplane mode then take it out. Which is really inconvenient EVERY time I want to use this. I know that when the WiFi turns green it means that the phone is connected to Google. But it never goes back from white to green even after I let it sit for a few seconds and try something to push data through. Even when it's green it doesn't work until I reset the radio.
Things to know:
1. I am rooted.
2. It is the AT&T LG Nitro HD (LG P930)
3. It is the V10f software version.
4. I have not tried a factory reset yet because of the hassle. Yes I know about titanium, it's just time consuming.
If anybody else has this problem, please let me know. Hopefully we can get this fixed.
Update: I fixed my problem by installing Wi-Fi fixer. But it still makes me mad that this occurs. Maybe we can try to find the source of the problem.

Maybe you are running some battery saving app like juice defender? Check the settings there.

Nope, I'm not running juice defender. The only task killing app I use is Advanced Task Killer which I only ever use when I need to quickly restart an app, I don't use it every 10 minutes like some people do.
I had a weird incident where I lost my wifi radio...wouldn't detect any wifi ssids...don't know what caused it. But your situation seems similar...sadly I have know idea how it got fixed...rebooted phone a couple of times and haven't had a problem since.

[Q] Wi-fi turning on and off randomly for anyone?

I was wondering if this was occurring for anyone especially when you turn on the screen and I can see that the wifi slider tab that indicates on/off turns on when I wake up the device. I also can't connect to any wi-fi networks since it just shuts off randomly within the minute or two that I connect to a network....
I am stock, rooted with Note2core kernel.
Me too
Yes, I just noticed this today, after having this phone for 2 days. I can start up a Wi-Fi connection to my home network, and after 3-4 minutes, it just drops off. Once it drops off wi-fi, it waits about 2 minutes and reconnects back to my home Wi-Fi.
Right now, I suspect that it might have something to do with power. Today is the first day that I have not charged the phone at all during the day. I am at 30% battery now. I started noticing the network shutoff this afternoon, I suspect when I was in the 50% battery range.
I put my phone on the charger to see if that might stop the wi-fi drop outs, but it hasn't yet.
I will tell you that I have done most of my fiddling using the Wi-Fi setup of the settings menu. As a check, I went in to the AT&T Smart Wi-Fi app and started my home Wi-Fi from there. My connection still dropped off after 4 minutes, but the AT&T app told me that my connection had gone into sleep mode.
I'm hoping that everything will return to normal in the morning after I get my battery back up in the 80%-90% range. I have been able to find any power setting that would cause the Wi-Fi to cycle like this.

Edited to add that I am stock, no roms or rooting.
From another thread... and it addressed the issue for me...
Delete all saved wifis.
Open the servicemode with
*#197328640#
Open the wifi menu via menu button and deactivate the energy saving mode.
Reconfigure your wifi.

ghicks, you are correct...
I tried this last night, and I have gone all night without a drop out, but I did sleep a couple of hours in there.
As a side note, I did have to reboot my phone after making this change.
Good luck
I had this issue until I froze the ATT smart wifi app with Titanium Backup. No problems since.

I also have not had this problem since I froze the ATT Smart Wifi app.
I figured it was some power saving option that I had not yet found, but I never saw it happen again after freezing all the bloat. Didn't think about it again until I saw this post.
Can someone tell me how to freeze the at&t smart wifi?
Doesn't seem that freezing the ATT app works (using Titanium Backup, selecting app, and freeze). And disabling WiFi energy saver in the engineering menu resets after a reboot...

A few of us in another thread have disabled our AT&T smart wifi app and have fixed our wifi disconnecting problem. We've done this by uninstalling any updates for the app and then disabling the app all through application manager in settings.

Thanks for the replies. It seems one can un install the smart wifi from the play store? I have not done it, but that option is available in play store.
This problem returned for me today. I have tried to use the code to reset the power save setting, but it isn't working for me.
I'm at 57% battery, and I just noticed this at around 65%.

Been about an hoursince my last update...
I turned off the energy saver mode in service mode. It dropped the wifi a couple of minutes after I did so. I verified that energy saver mode was still turned off in service mode.
I rebooted my phone, and I haven't dropped my Wi-Fi since. I went back in to service mode and verified that rebooting did restore energy saving mode to ON.
So, simply rebooting the phone is what helped me today. Since I am presently at 46% battery, it doesn't appear that battery levels alone are enough to kick this behavior in.
I don't know...

[Q] Screen turning on my itself

Hi forum,
My phones screen turns itself on often for no reason. I have noticed that it will turn on when it connects to my home or work WiFi when its in range but the screen stays on and doesn't time out after 30 seconds as set in the display settings, which can be frustrating because my phone can be on in my pocket for a few hrs wasting my battery.
My phone is running Android 4.1.2 stock Samsung rom not rooted.
Cheers
Do you use any app to manage your WiFi network or any other connection like Juide Defender?

Hey Memphis_
Yes i do, I have Juice Defender. This issue was still happening before I installed it tho
You don't have any apps installed which might be set to turn on the screen with a shake, right?

Hi PhilipTD,
No I don't have any apps installed like that. I will stop using juice defender over the next few days to see if that fixes the issue.
Cheers

Assuming you are on 5.0.1 Lollipop, did you factory reset after the update? Many people have experienced problems after the update but have seen factory resets correct problems.
While on the wifi settings page (the screen where you find the list of wifi networks available), touch the three dots in the upper right corner and select Advanced.
Uncheck (turn off) the option to "Always allow scanning"
You can also turn off the first option of Network notification to stop it from trying to find open networks in range.
hope this helps.

Thanks for the response,
I am on 5.0.1, I did factory reset twice, Cleaned cache multiple times
"Always allow scanning" is already turned off
Network notification is also turned off (unchecked)
Funny thing is , I put the phone in Airplane mode (wifi off too) for a while and battery graph still shows WiFi on and phone awake

The Wifi thing is a lollipop bug.
It'll always show as on even when it's off.

That bug must not hit every lollipop phone because my wifi doesn't show as on all the time. When it's off, it's off.

Weird... mine does.
Are you running any special apps (like battery savers)? What Wifi settings are you using? Is Power Saving Mode on or off?
I'm curious now. But yeah, several Note 4 users on the non-ATT Note 4 thread are reporting this issue as well and so were many Nexus users.

No battery savers or apps designed to conserve battery; power saving modes off. All I did to wifi settings was turn off scanning and notification. I have a long list of apps that I disabled since I knew for sure I wasn't going to use them. I screenshot them below if you're interested.

Ok I was wrong. My phone doesn't show wifi always on. I kept wifi off all day and it showed correctly. BUT I think it did show as always awake on the previous Lollipop update. (I'm on COC4 now).
And btw, I have all the same apps turned off as you except Samsung Push Service because it seems to not sync S Note with my Samsung account (I have a Note tablet too) and Amazon because I use it.
Update
I did some further digging , based on the amount of battery used.
1. Cerberus App was using a lot of battery, so uninstalled and re-installed it... the Constant AWAKE problem is gone
waiting a few days to make sure that problem was really gone
2. Uninstalled "LLAMA" app and now WiFi does NOT show as always on
Having the exact same issue on my galaxy s6. Just turned on clash after picking up the phone and the resolution looks like as compared to my joke Moto X (2013). It's worst when zoomed way out and fine when zoomed way in. Maggie everywhere. What the **** supercell.
