Hi everyone,
Today I tried to mod my xperia arc, with unlocked bl and rooted: I tried to put another systemui.apk and quickpanelsettings.apk in my sytem/app directory. After a few times not working (even after checking permissions), I turned off my phone, turned it back on in CWM and putted back my backup (wich I made before changing the systemui.apk). Everything works (almost) fine: My wifi doesn't work and I get FC's with some apps (wich will work again after reinstalling I hope). I hope someone can help me with my wifi problem!
Thanks!
-Xperia Arc, Lt15i
-Mooded ICS 70.0 (worked very well before, but didn't like the statusbar -switches)
-Unlocked BL
-Rooted
-Baseband 56 (maybe helps if I flash 70? But 56 always worked fine...)
I already tried to factory reset and wipe everything and then putted back backup: didn't help.
Also tried to do factory reset.. and install KA17: still no wifi..
I hope someone can help me
Most likely it's a baseband problem. Go for baseband .70. It's for ICS ROMs
Which Kernel do you use?

Did you flash the WiFi modules for the kernel you used

Yesterday I flashed CM 7.2.0 FXP109 on my Xperia Arc S.
3G worked perfectly.
Later I installed AdFree, and set my phone on the table. I do not remember if I rebooted it first. About an hour later when I picked up the phone again, I had no 3G signal. Still nothing today. Tried re-flashing CM7.2 FXP109, whilst first wiping data/cache/dalvik. Still nothing.
Tried to put it into airplane mode, waiting 10 seconds and turning it back off, checked all the settings (and the APN settings are set the way they should).
Also, after having wiped the phone data and cache and re-flashing, somehow USB Debugging and Unknown Sources are still turned on. Shouldn't that reset?
Either way, something is wrong and I'm at a loss. I have no idea what to do, and I just bought the phone yesterday. Before that I had an X8 with GingerDX, so it's not my first time installing a bootloader, and I haven't had these problems on my old phone.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
EDIT:
I found a (possible) solution, at least it seemed to have worked for me.
I flashed a different kernel (and thus got a different version of CWM), formatted, wiped cache/dalvik cache and flashed back to the kernel needed for FXP109. Then I installed FXP109 CM7.2 and GAPPS again. Problem solved.
My guess is that for some reason, I had to flash to a different kernel and back to solve it.
Cheers!

I've searched the forum and can't see a solution to this problem.
My wi-fi keeps turning on even though I have switched it off and even if I put the phone in airplane mode, it switches back in.
Also, the GPS constantly tries to engage. The warning pops up which says, "By selecting "Standalone GPS Services", you are enabling access to all location information..." and it has 'disagree' and 'agree' at the end. If I click 'disagree' it goes away then reappears a short time later. If I click 'agree', the GPS goes on.
I have run an virus check which was negative.
I have ICS build 4.1.B.0.587 and it has recently been rooted.
I tried locking wi-fi with some software, but that didn't work.
Any ideas anybody?
if your phone is non-modded (custom kernel, rom etc.) re-install the firmware you're currently using by re-flashing it via flash tool 6 or higher..
if it is modded (root, rom, kernel etc.) re-flash the kernel or change it/re-flash the rom or change it

Thanks MrModMan, I did as you recommended. My phone was rooted, so I downgraded the kernel again (using the LT18i downgrade as I was told that this would be OK on my LT15i by another member), re-rooted using the DooMLorD tool, then flashed the kernel again (using the LT15i ftf for .587 build).
The problem still exists.
I suspected that it may relate to an app which uses GPS/Wi-fi connectivity, maybe Google Maps. I backed up Google maps, then uninstalled using Titanium Backup, but the problem's still there.
Here's an update. I reinstalled the latest version of ICS and have not rooted my phone, The phone is not now reconnecting to wi-fi and the GPS nag screen has stopped appearing, so evidently there is something wrong with the rooting procedure that I used for the .587 build of ICS. I can say that I did follow the procedure outlined on this forum to the letter. Maybe somebody with more technical know-how can determine what the problem is.
Hi everyone.
I'm having a little problem with my Xperia S, it's kind of new (2 weeks of use).
When I'm using normally the cellphone, everything works great, but if don't use it for a long time and I grab it faster and unlocked it, sometimes the cellphone freezes! Well, not exactly freezing, it still works but VERY slowly, almost like freezing. I can't turn it off with power button, I had to user Power + Volume button to turn it off/restart it.
That happened in first week, so I unlocked bootloader and flash it another kernel (advanced stock kernel), and the problem was there.
Later I made a backup of the firmware (I updated to its last version with PC Companion, ICS btw) and flashed a custom ROM (XTXperience 4), and the problem was still there.
Yesterday I flashed a Generic ICS ROM downloaded from XDA Server using Flashtool, everything went normal until today, when the problem happened again.
I've been searching here in XDA and Google and still nothing seems clear of what is causing the problem, if it's the sim card or maybe a hardware problem. I'm going to relock the bootloader today, and I will try to repair the phone using SUS.
What is causing the cellphone to freeze? Hope someone help me with this. Thanks in advance!
btw, sorry about my english, hope you understand most of what I wrote
Well in my experience,
The phone freezes because it is too hot,
Or the RAM memory suddenly drops.
I mean sudden ur phone's RAM memory is 0.
I'm not sure too.
But I think reflashing the kernel, or flash other kernel will fix the problem
Try it

What ics firmware did you flash? And did you do a complete wipe when flashing?
Sent from my Jellybean Xperia S
I've flashed other kernel and yes, I do a complete wipe when I flash another ROM, via Flashtool or CWM.
I've been thinking of rolling back to GB to see what happens.
Yesterday my phone freezes like 2 or 3 times in less than 15 minutes. First time I reboot the phone and it was ok like 5 minutes, then it freezes. I reboot again the phone and happened again.
Its not even hot or using a lot of RAM, it always has like 250 or 200mb free
Did u play with CPU settings?

No, this is happening since the first boot of the phone. When I turned it on the first time it happened, and I had to search how to force a reboot because I didn't know how to do it LOL
It doesn't happen very often, but when it does is very frustrating!
Try flashing a new rom, but wipe the system partition too? I always do that to ensure a fully clean install.

I'm thinking in flashing a non based stock rom, like CM or MIUI, because I flashed XTXperience before and the freezing happened.
Oh, and the problem still exists. I believe Wi-Fi connection maybe it's the problem, I'm testing some things right now.
Had this too using Supercharger (by zep) but after few setting it's gone. Maybe you should try to run the script ?
It was with stock rom and advanced kernel v15/16.L
Well, I was on 6.1.A.2.45, I relocked the bootloader and an update changed the firmware to 6.1.A.2.55 using SUS without wiping data and the problem was still there, so I repaired the phone with SUS, it erased everything and the problem was gone for like 2 days. Today it happened again.

Well, I Supercharged my ROM now, which setting do you use to fix the problem? I'm still having it.
I even flashed a CM10 based ROM and its still happening! I think it's a hardware problem

Hi, did you manage to solve the problem? I'm having similar issues like you
Hello all, I'm new to this forum and i got some questions, (I did research, but I haven't find answer for my Q).
Ok so I got installed custom ROM on .58 FW, and I want change baseband from -67 to -36. I went thru tutorial http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1469473 I did everything exactly how its says in step by step guide. The problem is when phone boots it keep giving me wellcome screen, poping up msg what I dont have enough space for my SMS, and when I go into phones internal storage its nothing there, I mean it does not show how many free space left and how many used.
So my question is: ROM is not supported by this baseband because this ROM is based under BB -67 ? Or I need to do something else ?
I want have this baseband because sometimes when I use data internet on my phone it respond very slowly.. i.e. I browsing internet everything OK, then I switch off screen and turn it back on, then go into browser and press any link there, my phone shows what is sending data but not receiving, after some while everything comes back and working fine again.. It very anoing thing, and I want fix that somehow.. I had this problem before I started to do any flashing (I was with stock FW) and now after some flashing new ROMs and kernels I still having..
Any suggestions ?

No solution guys ?
You may want to try re-formatting (called a factory reset in CWR)
Get to your bootloader and the option should be there to delete the data/cache partitions.
Note - you should backup, nandroid, etc before doing this.
Thanks for the post, I will try as soon as I get home, hope this will help.

I recently updated the Freexperia rom on a phone but with the update the sim disappeared and so the possibility to use the phone network (calls and internet) while any other thing works as ever.
The sim work on other phones and stopped just after the update.
With a restore it come back to working.
What i do:
Normal update.
Update with factory, cache, dalvik and system partition reset.
Any clue or suggestion?

Clear all things in the recovery, flash stock !4.3! .ftf file, reboot, turn off again, connect to PC, flash boot.img , enter recovery, flash fxp341 and reboot
EDIT: The error appears when you flash 4.4.4 over 4.1/2 baseband. Flashing 4.3 and then the ROM will do.
Press thanks if I helped!
Worked like a charm! Thanks

I tried to reflash stock firmware and then flash another rom but it didnt work.
I tried to restore the old backup before the update but it didnt work.
I tried to flash a old stock rom and there didnt worked and so on...
Then i tried to flash the single radio i found here -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2703161 and... didnt work either >_<
Maybe its better if i open another thread?
Ok problem solved, the sim stopped working in the same time of the update. Gonna change it
