[q] ics roms that dont kill battery?? - Kindle Fire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Are there any ICS roms that dont have the "OS" bug? I lose about 8-9% overnight on my Kindle with ICS and my stock Kindle loses nothing. Any other good ROMs that dont suck battery? Thanks.

Jelly Bean Kernels (Temp Issues)

Just curious if anyone else notices that all the jelly bean kernels appear to run much hotter than the ICS builds. My phone doesnt lock up but its constantly above 50c and over 60 at times just from moving around the UI alot. This is only with a 1326mhz hoverlock too, even stock 1200 does it.
Does anyone else notice this?
Can't say I have.
I actually have noticed mine running quite hot on 4G -- hotter than usual -- but I don't know that I can correlate it with Jelly Bean. It's a warranty replacement phone so I really didn't give it any testing time on ICS that I could compare to. I know it's running much hotter than my old device. And I'm on the stock kernel, no overclocking.
Nope, my phone is pretty cool most of time and gets warm +50/+55C when watching HD videos or when playing games. Tested kernels: franco, Trinity and stock 4.1/4.1.1 without overclock.
it's becuase u are using ur phone more than usual...to check all the new things in jelly bean.

LOL.
Nope, more or less the same temperature. There should not be any discrepancies in temperature.

Jelly Bean ROM Battery life

I would post this on the actual topic, but it won't let me. Apparently I'm too new.
Anyway, I'm running GedeROM right now, and looking to upgrade to the latest Jelly Bean ROM. Link here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1765288
So what's the battery life like on the JB ROM? It's over clocked to 1.2Ghz which I assume would hurt the battery life a bit. Is it at least as good as the stock?
What kind of battery life for e-reading with the wifi on/off?
The battery life is not as good as the stock or even ICS [in my opinion]. But, the loss in battery life is not significant enough to stop you from migrating to JB.
unfortunately, i can't give you any numbers, but from personal experience ill tell you: go for jb. it is just awesome how they improved the handling/smoothness. i did not expect this to work that well on a "low-end" device like the kindle fire, but it surely does.

Thats interesting, I never thought about it using more battery life, thanks!
Better than ICS here. Three day standby so far.

Do any custom ROMs have the same or better idle battery life?

I've tried CM9 and CM10 roms, but the idle for all of them is much worse than stock Kindle rom. I'm using Modaco custom Kindle rom, which is just as good (if not better) battery than pure stock, but I'm wondering if there's a non-Kindle looking rom (ICS or JB) that doesn't have poor battery life.
Thanks!
Nope... use cm7 it has excellent battery life ics and jelly bean will probably always suck like pigs when it comes to battery life..

That's a shame. Do you know why? Kernel issue I'm guessing?
My Galaxy Nexus is getting great battery with a custom kernel (Franco's), so it seems like other devices should be able to get good life with the right kernel. I wonder what's causing so much idle battery drain on the ICS/JB kernels.
Thanks for the info though! I might stick with Modaco since it opens up the market yet retains the good battery life.

[q] cm9 vs cm10

CM9 VS CM10 Which Better For Gaming , Faster , Mods , Better Kernels and Bettery Life ??
i wanna ANS PLZ
i think slimbean
CM9. With Seeder v5. Using either Castagnal IT kernel or hadi's.
CM10 is not stable enough that's all. Battery lasted 3 days with wifi on.
Underclocked though~

Well, I'm using CM10 Alpha 3 now and everything I've experienced is far better than what I've experienced with ICS ROMS. JB is absolutely smoother than ICS. Try Slimbean first if you don't wanna waste time downloading just to test things. Apply forfivo's kernel v2 for jb to improve performance.
Just to be honest, even though many users are saying that there's many bugs and issues on cm10, the times you will encounter them are so minimal. And the phone is still fit for daily use. Just take my advice. Try CM10.

Have you even used it before comparing it to cm9? I doubt it so what your saying is nothing more than baseless rubbish that cm9 is better tan cm10.
Its a fact that wifi drains the battery and to keep it on all the time is stupid and it takes a really stupid person to not be able to see that cause its been said again and again and again that having it on drains the battery and then you complain that the battery drains fast when you have wifi on all day. Yea I see s a real intelligent person there.

Can you please just calm down and stop sounding like you are trying to start a fight for absolutely no reason at all, calling people stupid, everyone is just giving their own opinion, giving an answer. I myself would suggest cm9 too as not all games work properly with jb and its very stable as of now.

I'm in no means to start argument. But I left it with wifi on for three days to test for battery life.
If you don't connect to the internet much, wifi will barely consume any battery. But if you have any more to say, try having 3G on. My experience is that browsing on the internet with 3G on will even consume battery with AC plugged in.(though that is when I'm still in stock GB)
I keep my wifi on when I'm at home because file updates run better on them. (and is needed for frequent teamviewer usage too)
I did not state the fact that CM10 is worse than CM9, its just stability. And as a person who relies on his phone quite a lot, stability does come before performance.
Thanks for iBlueee and peanutghost(direct translate) for being rational

cm9 is more stable

4.2.1 vs 4.1

for a general user like myself what are users opinions on performance an battery on a custom 4.2.1 toro rom vs the 4.1.1 factory image?(im kinda tired of flashing stuff!im turning into a crackflasher lol jus wana hear sum views on the topic)thinking of going stock rooted wit maybee jus a kernel?
I've been using muzzy's 4.2 rom for quite some time. His ROM is very close to stock and gets very nice battery life... best I've gotten since I left stock ICS a year ago. It may just be subjective but I think 4.2 is quicker and smoother than 4.1 also. My 2 cents.
