I'm guessing that they won't release anything over the long weekend, so if it doesn't drop today we're looking at the end of next week? (I'm on Voda and can live without it, but the flickering is driving me crazy...)
(I know the numbers in the title don't accord with Voda/3 - I'm should have just entitled it 1.29, but wanted to make it clear that I'm referring to .11 and not .07)
Im not expecting Voda to release it any time soon. Bloody Vodafone.

Yeah true, I just hate the fact that everyone has to wait on their respective network provider to test and release the updates on their own software before its released to the public.
I expect that the reports of people 'losing' storage post the update may be slowing down the certification.
I've no problem with them testing updates (it's them who'd have to deal with customers with broken phones) but the lack of information is nuts - they should learn from the Windows update saga that MS had to manage with the upgrade to Mango.
Childishly pressing check for updates around every 10 mins myself - don't know about you guys...
No update in Hong Kong for unbranded devices. We got 1.28 at exactly the same time as UK, 1.29 came very similar, but the second 1.29 hasn't arrived. So don't feel too bad.

I'm guessing you have an unbranded handset from Phones4U or someone, right?
Branded Vodafone Spain here, also waiting to 1.29 I don't mind waiting if they are testing it, but please give us some information!!
I don't have any screen flicker, but I've lost 10gb of space!, I know I can reformat my sd space but it seems pointless until I get the update.
On 3 UK The 1,29 is in testing and they haven't a clue when it's going to be released. Hopefully the end of the week. If not I'm ranting at Three support again.

Re: Just Vodafone UK and 3 left for 1.29.401.11
Vodafone UK and 3 won't get 1.29.401.11 if they are branded, will they? So I'm guessing the OP was talking about the equivalent update?
So was I. Oh sorry, HK versions don't affect you and you're so narrow minded that you can't even see that it's not relevent for an unbranded regional update to come after branded ones?
You're obviously poster of the year with your 1 thanks. Well done.

Looks like later next week now for us, which will mean we get it five weeks after non-branded phones and two weeks after 02 (at best.) Not great, is it Vodafone?
I think, Vodafone had been fast, with the 1.28.
But i still don't understand, why they didn't realese the 1.29 yet.

never call vodafone CS and ask when the latest firmware upgrade is due...I've spoken to 3 different "tech guys" and all of them have said the same infuriating thing. "The HTC One X is already on the latest version of Android". Thats not what i asked you moron.
Cant complain too much as i got a 50% discount on my upgrade, so i suppose im getting 50% of the level of customer service shouldve paid the extra money instead and gone to phones4u

I'm pretty happy with Voda and can live without .11 for a while, although it would be nice to get rid of the flickering. It isn't the end of the world, but it is surprising that they are taking such a long time to sort things and doesn't fill me with confidence.
My HTC is unbranded. Still on 1.28 so the title is a big fat lie.

What's your full version number? I thought all unbranded phones had at least the first 1.29 OTA sent out.
This is getting beyond a joke, now. Voda are generally pretty quick off the blocks, but we are now entering the sixth week since this update emerged and there is still nothing from them. Is this how it's going to be from now on?
Hello, after read tons and tons of thread / reviews / comparisons between the GS3 & the HOX, the GS3 dual core & the GS3 quadcore, the HOX dual core & the HOX quadcore, I think I finally decided to go for the HOX int quadcore. While I'm still worried about the battery life I think with some tweaks and updates it should be fine... I hope...
1. So, my first question is, where to buy it... I checked amazon and ebay, some people are selling it but I don't really know if it's safe or not, is there a good place to buy it? (I'm from Canada).
2. My last phone was an HTC touch HD and I wasn't using a phone for about 2 years and a lot of things changed... I never used android. I have read a few thread about root, etc... I guess I'll have the latest update with the phone when I'll buy it, I read there is no way (yet?) to root the phone with the new update. What does that mean? No custom roms? No custom kernels? Will someone release an app to root the phone with the new update?
3. I will be using my phone mainly for internet browsing I'd like to get 5-6 hours on screen time with web browsing, do you think it's possible with custom kernel and tweaks?
4. I watched videos on youtube about multitasking issues (reloading apps every time you switch), while I read it's been fixed in an update I just want to be sure, is that fixed?
TLDR: What is the best place to buy it? Will having the latest update be an issue? Will the battery last for 5-6h on web browsing with some tweaks? Are multitasking issues fixed?
Thanks!

I bought mine from Amazon because then you at least have 30 days to return it if something is wrong.
Having said that, I ended up with a T-Mobile Germany branded version, so I'm not sure what you'll get. Seems like Expansys is more likely to sell you the generic Asian version.
But I still feel much more confident purchasing from Amazon. They take good care of their customers. Returns have never been a problem for me.

I highly recommend Negri Electronics. They're based out of Las Vegas.
Right now $559.50 shipped for the grey One X. Unbranded. Mine is a perfect HT24D April 2012 build. No defects.

I'd recommend Clove... They are very reliable and if anything goes wrong they are very supportive.

kernels can fix but so far custom governor on t3 are not easy to do
best thing about ur choice is thd games
read the how to pick ur unit guide
finally multi tasking can be easily customized to ur needs using root
finally if most important for u is web browsing n not gaming go with the dual core version it has better screen on times
Thanks for all your replies.

Yeah. I considered sending it back right away, but it has been perfect otherwise. With all of the defects I read about, I figured I shouldn't take the chance and I could always custom rom it.
The one thing I love about Amazon is that the return would be no hassle.

Also is there a way to fix the multitasking issue without removing sense? (I guess you don't have sense on custom roms)

No logo (other than HTC), but there was carrier bloatware on mine(T-mobile) and a carrier splash screen at boot up. The wireless hotspot works fine, so it's not like it's locked, but it was still annoying. Mine also defaulted to German, but that was easy to remedy.

Ok thanks, I'd like some feedback from the people who have tested both US and Int version to know if there is big differences for battery life and perfs, for games I don't really care since I find gaming on touchscreen horrible, if there was something like a mini gamepad that you can connect on the USB port why not, but gaming on touch screen I don't care.
I want good multitasking, good battery life, storage (16gb is small considering data is limited in canada so I can't really use cloud), I don't care about LTE since my area is not covered (yet), I'd also want to know something about updates, are both phones updated at the same time when HTC release an update? Or one phone is updated more frequently than other?
EDIT: Just looked at amazon (http://www.amazon.com/HTC-S720E-Unlocked-Android-SmartPhone/dp/B0078LXM4A) and I found one unlocked but why all HTC one X don't have warranty?
So I'm about to buy my first Android phone after having a 3GS for far too many years, with it quite literally falling apart it's time to get a new one!
As such, after a lot of reading and watching youtube videos of different phones I came to fall for the HTC One X, and as such will be picking up one soon from a local retailer and I'm sure I'll be happy with it, BUT.
Just as I rooted/jailbreaked my 3GS I of course want the freedom of rooting my HOX, and would probably install a clean ROM faster than you can whistle and call me Daisy, and I've read a bit about it, it's certainly feasible and currently well understood, with plenty of information on it.
There is one area I didn't quite catch all the information in though, there seem to be certain newer revisions of either hardware or software (this has not been clear to me) that for the moment can't be rooted, and as such earlier versions are to prefer.
Now I'm wondering what I should be on the lookout for to avoid, seeing as I want to root, I've seen the number 2.20 firmware number thrown out, and for the HOX it seems phones delivered with the 2.20FW as stock are to avoid if I want to root, but are there other pitfalls to avoid?
Additional information: The phone will be bought in a European country (Sweden) if there are any larger regional changes but the CPU/LTE thing, so it'll be a Tegra3 version I guess and it will be unlocked.
Thanks in advance!
There is no 2.2 firmware version for the Tegra 3 One X.
All Tegra 3 One X can be unlocked at htcdev.com
If you buy a branded one, updates are later or not at all, since the carrier has to approve (mess with) them.
Firmware later than 1.29 has all the major faults fixed, you want 2.17, really.
Nobody has found any convincing correlation between specific defects or defect rates and serial numbers. You best bet is to find one that starts xx26 or higher as HTC have modified the aerial connectors to prevent the Wifi signal problem.

Incase you haven't heard the HTC One X has started to receive Sense 4+ and Jelly Bean.
Obviously a lot of people are excited about this and myself included find myself checking every 5 minutes for the update.
So I would like to ask people who already have the update to discuss new features, hopefully some videos and equally any bugs or issues you may have.

Seems that anyone who has jb is to busy playing with their new toys!
I don't think the update is available outside of Taiwan for the moment. However, based on various sources mentioned on different threads here, I gather it will come rather soon, for unlocked devices, most likely in less than 1 week (there are even mentioned dates, but it's +/-1 week - 5th of Nov. for UK, 6th of Nov. for France, etc.... I'd say in 2 weeks tops most of us will have it).
We r going to see 4.1.x soon in Europe too, but 4.2 may come earliest in 2013–3rd quarter I guess, because in March'2013 a new flagship will surely come with 4.2 it is that simple. Personally i am really excited about the new features that will come with it.

Nah just using the Maximus rom based on the latest elevate base. Noticed it on the one x+ base and other roms though
Here in Taiwan not every one got the OTA yet. Only people with non-carrier endorsed phones get the OTA (we call "retail version"). In TW, The phones are "endorsed" by carriers with their bloatwares but the phones are otherwise not SIM-locked. Most people here got the "endorsed" version even without any connection with the carriers. (we don't really care since it's not SIM locked)
Currently people with the "endorsed" version can flash the "retail version" of old RUU then can receive the JB OTA, even CID is different. (you need unlock, of course)
I think it would still take some time for HTC to prepare the "endorsed" JB OTA in Taiwan. It would take longer for the rest of the world to get it, I think...
BTW, this OTA kills my Light sensor and P-Sensor and HTC replaced them hardware-ly. Better wait longer...

Hey everyone,
Since I recently went back to stock to be able to OTA to Nougat, I wonder if there's going to be another OTA from HTC anytime soon.
Seeing that the security patch on official is Feb 2017, I would presume we would get an update soon?
Before I switch back to custom rom I wanted to know this before I have to redo all things again to get the OTA when it comes out.

The different SKUs often have different firmware versions like the two you mentioned. That's completeley normal for HTC. The differences between those two versions are so minimal they can almost get considered as non-existent.
However, I wouldn't put my hopes too high in regard to further updates. All variants that haven't reached a version somewhere around 4.30.x will probably still get updated. The rest probably won't receive any further updates since the M9's market release was more than two years ago. Until now all big OEMs haven't supported any of their devices for a longer time range than this one. Chances are high that the M9 gets considered as EOL by HTC.

Yeah it's not really about any big updates other than the security patches.
Honestly, I hope the EU (and other govs) force them to keep supporting top tier phones for at least 5 years. Seeing all these hacks these days, this should be a must.
I mean the M9 is still a very solid phone that is by far not due for an upgrade, but because it will fall back in security patches (if I don't custom rom it), I'm forced to spend another €700 just so I can stay up-to-date? That's just overkill and plain retarded greedy...
But oh well, back to custom rom seeing there won't be any big update anymore for which I need stock.
