I'm guessing that they won't release anything over the long weekend, so if it doesn't drop today we're looking at the end of next week? (I'm on Voda and can live without it, but the flickering is driving me crazy...)
(I know the numbers in the title don't accord with Voda/3 - I'm should have just entitled it 1.29, but wanted to make it clear that I'm referring to .11 and not .07)
Im not expecting Voda to release it any time soon. Bloody Vodafone.

Yeah true, I just hate the fact that everyone has to wait on their respective network provider to test and release the updates on their own software before its released to the public.
I expect that the reports of people 'losing' storage post the update may be slowing down the certification.
I've no problem with them testing updates (it's them who'd have to deal with customers with broken phones) but the lack of information is nuts - they should learn from the Windows update saga that MS had to manage with the upgrade to Mango.
Childishly pressing check for updates around every 10 mins myself - don't know about you guys...
No update in Hong Kong for unbranded devices. We got 1.28 at exactly the same time as UK, 1.29 came very similar, but the second 1.29 hasn't arrived. So don't feel too bad.

I'm guessing you have an unbranded handset from Phones4U or someone, right?
Branded Vodafone Spain here, also waiting to 1.29 I don't mind waiting if they are testing it, but please give us some information!!
I don't have any screen flicker, but I've lost 10gb of space!, I know I can reformat my sd space but it seems pointless until I get the update.
On 3 UK The 1,29 is in testing and they haven't a clue when it's going to be released. Hopefully the end of the week. If not I'm ranting at Three support again.

Re: Just Vodafone UK and 3 left for 1.29.401.11
Vodafone UK and 3 won't get 1.29.401.11 if they are branded, will they? So I'm guessing the OP was talking about the equivalent update?
So was I. Oh sorry, HK versions don't affect you and you're so narrow minded that you can't even see that it's not relevent for an unbranded regional update to come after branded ones?
You're obviously poster of the year with your 1 thanks. Well done.

Looks like later next week now for us, which will mean we get it five weeks after non-branded phones and two weeks after 02 (at best.) Not great, is it Vodafone?
I think, Vodafone had been fast, with the 1.28.
But i still don't understand, why they didn't realese the 1.29 yet.

never call vodafone CS and ask when the latest firmware upgrade is due...I've spoken to 3 different "tech guys" and all of them have said the same infuriating thing. "The HTC One X is already on the latest version of Android". Thats not what i asked you moron.
Cant complain too much as i got a 50% discount on my upgrade, so i suppose im getting 50% of the level of customer service shouldve paid the extra money instead and gone to phones4u

I'm pretty happy with Voda and can live without .11 for a while, although it would be nice to get rid of the flickering. It isn't the end of the world, but it is surprising that they are taking such a long time to sort things and doesn't fill me with confidence.

What's your full version number? I thought all unbranded phones had at least the first 1.29 OTA sent out.
This is getting beyond a joke, now. Voda are generally pretty quick off the blocks, but we are now entering the sixth week since this update emerged and there is still nothing from them. Is this how it's going to be from now on?

So Vodafone and 3 have released a branded 1.28 update...T-mobile refuse to even acknowledge it exists (even though 1.29 is out now for unbranded). I have asked everywhere and met a total wall of silence regarding updates from t-mobile.
So my plan now is to ask every branded t-mobile uk customer to tweet t-mobile's support asking for ANY information regarding updates to our bug ridden HOX. The standard reply is 'we don't get told until it is released'. That is not good enough we wont need to ask when it is released, I don't believe in this day and age someone internally can't at least let us know if anything is in test...
There are people who haven't had updates for their phones that were released months ago. I don't want to let t-mobile off the hook and do the same to us..

Hi, I posted on t-mobile uk Facebook first about the 1.28 update and this was the reply I got "Hello Gary. I have heard nothing about the 1.28; nothing at all. If we get any information on this, it will be getting posted out. Thank you. David, T-Mobile Facebook Team"
Then asked about the 1.29 about an hour later and this was the reply I got "Hello Gary. At present, we do not know and there are occasions where we don't receive details regarding some updates until they have been released on the network. Thank you. David, T-Mobile Facebook Team."
So not helpful information from the Facebook side of things and I just sent HTC a message asking if they know, so far no reply but will let you know if anything comes of it.

All HTC will say is it depends on the networks testing policies.
I do think HTC should make all networks carrying there phone upgrade within x amount of weeks.

If true, that's poor. Business must go on as usual despite "changes" to an organisation.
O2 just rumoured to be releasing update in about a week. so that will just leave orange and t-mobile customers with bug ridden handsets....
Think there is a lesson here...I hope you still have some customers when you get round to releasing 4G (capped speeds anybody)...
Looks like rooting the way to go...

Rooting has and will always be the way to go when you get a handset from a network. If the phone works as in calls text and web, well all services that we pay for then things like battery life ect are not a priority. Not to the networks anyway.

normally if HTC rolls out an update the GSM versions which are the unbranded ones and unlock would get it straight away. So say they rolled out a new update today for those phones for your one i would say a few days to a couple of weeks the most mate.
Like my one. branded on 3. 1.28 update was released like two weeks ago and only like a few days i updated. so it varies my friend. best bet were to have a look is on here to see if others on the same network have it..do not forget it depends on regions as well
thanks for that,I'm new to these forums so will do some searching,I did try asking orange themselves but they seemed very reluctant to give a date, thanks again

Ok people,
Just been on to HTC and they have confirmed that the 1.29.401.7 is out in the wild for UK users.
I have not had mine yet but they said this... (has anyone had there update yet?)
Robert: Hi Richard, thank you for contacting HTC Support, I am looking in to your query now.
Robert: I understand you wish to know when the latest Android 1.29 OTA update will be coming to your device.
In answer to your query the HTC One X Android 1.29 software update via FOTA EU is being rolled out as we speak, To unbranded devices. The servers can only handle 30,000 updates a day so you will have to be patient but you should receive the update soon. If your device is branded to a network e.g. 3, please wait for the network to release their branded software. The update is only available ota (over the air). There is also no way of installing an unbranded update on a branded device.
To manually search for updates please go through the following steps as described in the link below:
http://www.htc.com/help/www/howto_iframe.aspx?id=141676&type=1&p_id=440
For the latest news releases Please go to Our official HTC website, http://www.htc.com/uk/
Or web Fan pages e.g. Facebook & Twitter.
HTC thank you for your continued patience and co-operation at this time.
Richard Dixon: But thats great and all yet no one in the UK has received this update that I know of... (unless they got there phone from france or germany)
Robert: I can confirm it has been released.
Richard Dixon: Ive seen people asking on your official facebook and twitter. So its out in the UK?
Robert: Yes it is out in the UK.
PLEASE NOTE AFTER A FEW COMMENTS ON THIS THREAD IT SEEMS THE UPDATE IS NOT OUT IN THE UK AS OF YET AND HTC MAY HAVE MADE A MISTAKE. WILL POST MORE INFORMATION WHEN I GET IT.

Looking forward to the improved battery life . Ive been told it also makes HTC Sense a bit smoother, is that true? Ive noticed that some of the Live wallpapers stutter a bit.
Nothing for me yet either on an unbranded T-Mob HOX.
Damn it, I just sent my One X for Exchange as it had a fault, oh well, I guess I'll have the update ready for me when I get another one back on Thursday, gives my fingers a break from mashing the 'check now' button.
Nothing yet, Im on vodafone but unbranded HOX.
nothing on my unbranded one as well, and htc said the same thing to me a week ago and nothing yet
They've been giving the same canned response for a week. They seem to think it's out here but it ain't. I have been speaking to HTC at a high level about it as I believe some mistake has resulted in the UK not getting it. I will report back whatever I hear.

The guy speaking to me said he had received his update yesterday and its a UK handset so im unsure mate.
I'm already on it - RUU
But, I've noticed:
Slight improvement in home screen lag, it's still there...
Much lower AnTuTu score
& according to HTC's own built in battery test, battery is worse than 1.28
I went from 90% left after the test on 1.28, down to 88% on 1.29
So, battery not as good maybe? & benching is much lower...
Hmm.....

Definately but what if we wont be able to get the next one too?? (Talking about UK handsets)
After four weeks since 1.29 landed on the One X - how much longer will it take for operators to release it to their customers? And do you think they'll release .07 first and we'll then have to wait another month until they release the much more important .11, or might they be smart enough to jump straight to .11 as it was released in the same week as the earlier update and actually achieves something (removing screen flicker?)

could be anything from 2 weeks to 4 weeks if not even longer. sometimes they can skip updates...when they get their ass in gear then you might see an update..disappointing really and wish they took more of an apple approach towards updates. that is one thing you can not fault the iphone.

In an ideal world Android would have a kind of layered architecture, with a core produced and updated by Google, then a manufacturer layer added on by e.g. HTC and updated by them, and finally an operator layer in which the likes of Orange can add all of their stuff, and push updates for this themselves. This way when OS updates are released they get pushed immediately as with Apple, then the manufacturers push their own without the networks getting involved, and finally the networks do their own things with their layer. Hey, I can dream, sitting here with an Orange branded One X running 1.28.061.9.

I agree - but it IS four weeks and there's no sign of an update. I could do without .07 and am waiting for .11 as it will fix my flicker - my worry is that my operator (Voda UK) will have focused on .07 as it was out a day or two earlier and will only get round to .11 when the pretty minor .07 goes out...
Pretty much why we need S-OFF and a reason HTC should give it to us on HTCDev. Especially with this phone, which is requiring updates quick to fix pretty big flaws (flickering for one).
Why it takes 4 weeks + to bundle some bloatware into the update we'll never know.
I think they will go straight to the .11 release.
I bought my unbranded handset last week and although it is a different release sechdule my OTA updates went straight from 1.28 to the 1.29.11 version, missing out .7 completely.

There's a thread around here full of people complaining and asking about when it's coming. No one knows.
It's a weird situation for EU. The carrier O2 released 2.48 for German devices...But not for all EU unlocked...
I thought at least EU unlocked should follow O2, but three weeks now..nothing happened. And the support team in France is so incapable that they said they don't know when is the next update.
I'm getting tired of this. If current sw is not battery draining and the long-exposure photo in pro mode RAW is clear enough, I wouldn't not be so anxious to ask for the new update...
HTC EU does a nasty job...That's why I'm switching to Pixel later this year despite HTC U11 is excellent.
