[Q] Homescreens - HTC One X

Is there a way when flashing between new roms or when wiping then installing updated roms, to backup the layout you had on your homescreen. It takes me ages to create all my folders and setup all widgets etc. Is there an equivalent to titanium for homescreen setup?
Thanks

If you're using a launcher other than sense, they usually have a backup and restore option in the launcher menu.
There is no way for sense as far as i'm aware. Someone might know though.

Back it up with titanium and then restore it when you have the new rom

For me, I use the Backup Tool & Settings Restorer from this Rom Cleaner thread

Depending on what launcher you are using check in the settings of the launcher and some times you have an option to backup your setup from within.

I'm using sense. So what can I use for that?

When I try to restore adws backup all I get on screen is a bunch of placeholders instead of Widgets. I remove them one at a time n replace with its respective widget.
You restore the backup then reboot your device...

LauncherPro does the same thing (backup/restore)

Deleting sense from sense rom?

Is it possible to delete sense from a sense rom? If so would it be stock aosp and would my launcher pro settings still stick after deleting sense?

Not sure. There are NON sense roms out there though. Not sure about launcher pro but take a look at the Rosie mods out there and the themes for Sense in the Theming section
Calkulin has a utility that will rip out Sense from any Sense ROM, but I've never tested it.
Honestly, the best idea would be to backup your Launcher Pro settings with Titanium Backup and install CM6.1. That is vanilla Android plus essentially unlimited settings.

HTC Sense & custom launchers

Recently I've switched to nova launcher because sense was making my phone lag when I used Opera Mobile browser or other heavy apps.
Is it necessary now to freeze HTC Sense because it still runs in background & takes a lot of RAM & I am not using its launcher anymore?
Also is there a way to retain the Sense camera features somehow while the Sense is freezed? I only want the Sense launcher go away, the sense camera is quite nice.
My phone is rooted with custom ROM SuPrimo v30 installed.

Where are these Sense widgets ?

How do I get these widgets ? I saw these cool looking black widgets from a review screen shot. I could only find the "Hot Spot" widget in my settings, no others though.

Press longer homescreen where you want to put the widget, choose "widgets", scroll down until you find your widget of choice, for example the bluetooth-widget and tap it, that is all
They are stock HTC widgets, if you don't have them, you might have removed them (if you're rooted) or they just were not included in the ATT model.
You won't see them if you are using a 3rd party launcher.

I am running InsertCoin ROM, and no custom launcher, and still not seeing these options for these widgets, except just the HotSpot 1 x 1 Widget, no others though
Then you removed then during install as the majority are checked to be removed by default, you must reflash Rom, and uncheck the ones you want to keep,no need to wipe.

Using a launcher or no ?

I am typically a big Nova Prime Launcher guy. But trying a launcher on this M8 didn't feel right for some reason. It took away the beauty of the One or something.
I am running a custom ROM with tweaks, as well as Sense 6 Alpha toolbox xposed framework.
But think I'll hold off on a launcher for awhile, and enjoy Sense.
Anyone else ?

I thought the same thing, was a adw ex user on my evo. Probably won't use a launcher until I get sick of sense when cm variations come into the game with stability.

I don't enjoy really anything about sense. Using the Google now launcher.
How do I install the Google Now Launcher ? When I look it up, says my device is not compatible.

So far I'm sticking with the stock Sense, but will likely go back to using Apex at some point.
Does motion gestures still work to unlock screen with Google launcher?

Get it from Android Police...

I completely agree about wanting to use sense...the issues for me are:
-hard to back up and restore the homescreen for sense
-not as many customization and gestures
-doesnt show notifications on custom apps like nova does.
I do think that sense has really upped their game in design
Using apex with a shortcut to blinkfeed. Like it a lot.

Sense is a lot better than some of the other OEM options, but still the first thing I installed when I got my One was Nova Prime. I've just gotten so used to all of the customisations I can (and want to) do with Nova that the experience without it just feels off.
For starters, I lose my swipe/tap gestures on the homescreen which I've now developed muscle memory for.

It's not hard to backup and restore the homescreens for sense. I use titanium backup for that and backup BlinkFeed (homescreens). This will backup your homescreens the way you have them.

I used Nova Prime on my EVO 4G LTE and EVO 3D before that... but am still using Sense 6 on my M8. Although I absolutely love Nova and got really comfortable with all the gestures and other customizations I had set up, I decided I'd run Sense 6 until I get bored of it. Another thing is that I actually like the Sense widgets and was always a bit bummed that I had to download alternatives to use in Nova.
Used the Google experience launcher on note 3 but haven't felt the need with the m8

Yeah same here, if it had horizontal scrolling then I would probably use sense. I'm currently gpe with Google launcher
