The last line means he add a piece of paper between the battery and battery cover doesn't it?
Its been long time, but problem does not solve paper. We send it service. Had replaced camera and scews. All most 5 months now and not any self restart after that. So something in camera has burnd out. My wife used phone as baby monitor. If baby sleep, then was some app with she got able to look in web. Possible long time open camera has burn something

Prolonged use of wifi or mobile data will cause your phone to heat up. Once it becomes too hot, it will turn itself off to prevent damage to the motherboard of your phone. It's not that there's a bug or software problem, it's a safety feature.

Although the heat problem described above might be true, i had my Arc S rebooting itself at random even when it was cold.
The piece of paper trick works for me, i have a little strip of 0.5mm thick paper on the bottom of the battery, pushing the battery against the connectors at the top. Had no random reboots for months now.

But I don't have that kind of problem with my phone... Most of my phone's random reboots so far are either phone too hot or when I drop it accidentally...

Paper made a little bit better, but still reboots- in numbers what we saw was 15 without paper and with paper arround 10 per day. After camera replacment 0 reboots in 6 months for sure
well, i' have installed roms for a while and everything is ok, but in last days my phone sometimes stop responding, the screen doesn't turn on pushing the power button, but the funny is that apparently the phone still working, how do I know? if i have patience after a moment maybe 10 mins or in other cases is delayed 1 day the screen shows up in the last part where it was.
Now when I don't have patience and i pull off the battery and try to turn on the phone, the phone apparently turn on, vibrate, and then show the blue light and thats all , the phone still has keep in the black screen and I have to pull off the battery and repeat the process until the phone wants turn on
please help me this problem is really stressful
and a extra information..
2 or 3 months ago my phone fell down in a pool
maybe the problem is the battery? any help is valuable for me
So I can tell you 90% your Xperia Play suffers from a disease called "the flex cable damaged" disease. Your phone will have to undergo a surgery which will replace the damaged flex cable with a new one. Flex cable is the cable which connects the motherboard to the screen. Common issue for Xperia Play. Revert to stock, and I mean completely stock, then send to Sony Centre and replace for free if you still have warranty.
woww that was fast, unfortunately I have no warranty, my cousin throw me at the pool so i think he can pay me the flex cable... do you know how much is it?
by the way........rhank you sooooooo much
Er I am not sure about the price cause I got mine fixed under warranty. But I think it's not really expensive
So a tip for us is that open the slider slowly to avoid damage to the flex cable right?

Yep. Some people always push up hard (I am one of them ) then my flex cable is damaged.
I don't think it has anything to do with how hard you're using the device.
It has to do with how it was installed from the factory.
sometimes the cable can get bunched up underneath the screen and get a crimp in it.
My other spare screen slider cord has been crimped and i don't know how much longer it will last
but my other one is totally fine.
Guys I had problems too with my XP. One day the screen became all glitchy than i changed my flex cable and now the Device goes on when I push the on/off button the device thrills but no screen.
Any solution for this all ready flashed stock .TFT file.
for some reason just in a sudden my wildfire has lots of scanlines. it seems asif the lines, which are horozontal btw, are with a pixel space distance from eachother. but when you touch the screen there is one line that dissapears... even in boot and recovery it is showing this problem...
any help appraciated...
Could possibly be a loose or worn connection, i dropped my Willy (still tickles me that slym) on a tiled floor and had a few dots that seemed to get bigger and smaller of their own accord, not saying you should do this but i accidentally dropped mine again and it fixed my problem.
Probably a loose connection between the screen and motherboard or the screen is beginning to fail.

If you look on youtube, there are videos showing how to open it up, its not difficult but there is a cable which folds around at the bottom of the screen for the backlights on the buttons, just be careful you don't tear it or your button lights won't work anymore. It may just need a little clean out. If that doesn't fix it then new screens are cheap enough but i've said it before n i'll say it again, is it worth spending money on?
Maybe time to think about an upgrade.......

i do have an upgrade i have a sensation xe since 4 weeks, but a friend of mine borrowed this one cause his died 2 weeks ago and it all was still good untill last weekend... but i might wanna try to look for the video and indeed clean it, maybe it helps... thanks for the info
So sad story
Long story short,i broke my nexus's screen.Walking on the street, and bumped into a metal cone. it broke, but my phone is completely dead, but the battery was empty.the problem is,when i got home,i plugged it in,left it about half an hour, and when i tried to turn it on it didn't show any signs of life (vibration,etc..). i i dissasembled it and looked at the motherboard, and everything was ok,and no pins were unplugged.Assembled it again, and still nothing. so i dont know what could be the problem. and if anyone had similar problems and can tell me anything,i would appreciate it,cuz now i have to live with a sh*tty xperia x8. thanks in advance.
The impact seems to have damaged more than just the screen. Since there is absolutely no sign of life in the phone your choices fall down to repairing (probably not cost effective) or scrapping the phone.
I think the problem is somewhere else,in the battery connectors. I left the phone charging all day,and the battery was cool, but the rest of the phone was hot. I dont know...also,i think my power button dislocated.
Maybie i get it working, but nevermind,im already collecting money for a friend's nexus.

So, that day, my Xperia S got dipped in water only at the top part of the phone, of where the headphone jack is, now the phone suddenly turned off and it tried to restart, but the water...it again turned it off, brown screen, white screen, blue red LED light, vibrations and etc happened, it was unfortunate that i couldn't remove the battery immediately as it was fixed and I didn't had the right tool to dissemble it, now the phone turned off and got heated for a while , and then back to normal, it wont boot, so next day I kept it on the sunlight for the whole day and tried to boot it again but no, it will not , tried to charge it..but, nothing... then next day I took it to the Service Centre but they said they need to replace the main board which is around 270 euros , I came back home and dissembled it and saw there were seemed some fungus type , or carbon? around the small squares... specially around near the power button wires, I bought a bottle of Isopropyl alcohol to clean it, the battery, when I tried to feel the pinch of current flow from the "+" & "-" with the tongue, I felt nothing, completely nothing, so the battery was above 60% when dipped, can the LI-Ion battery be damaged by the water? is there any chance of survival of my pity Xperia S? or what should I do?
Wow that sounds like the opposite of the Z advert. Lol.
Try leaving it in a bag of rice for a couple of days. It's commonly known to sort out wet phones as it absorbs all the moisture out

but I think it's already been dried up right? the guys in the Service Centre also heated it, it has been 4 days, and by the way, how will rice help in absorbing if there is moisture in unseen parts of the main board? and am I late for the rich thing?
That "fungus" is actually water damage. Check the main board for short circuits. Thats the bad thing of having a non renovable battery. You shouldnt have tried to turn it on or charge it( you probably fried the board by doing that). Its too late for the rice trick. Might as well buy a new phone.

Why did that happen? Did you do it on purpose? I suppose it's time for a new phone. If you're an active user that uses your phone outdoors like me, I recommend you that you buy the Xperia Z.

Agree with comments above me. Time for a new phone. I recommend you to buy a water resistant phone like the Xperia Z, if it's too expensive for you and you don't need a high end phone... Buy the Acro S

Or Xperia V. It has a great camera,JB , water resistant and LTE.
