[Q] Update without phone service on Verizon? - Verizon Droid Incredible 2

I turned off my phone service on my Inc2 and use it wifi only. I can't force update (OTA) as it no longer is recongnized on Verizon server. Not rooted, don't want too. How do I get latest updates keeping the phone stock?

you can track down the latest RUU and flash it through hboot...thats your only option sans root/recovery

Thanks to Condemned Soul, for the latest RUU as nitsuj mentioned, go here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1599767

Evo will not OTA update to .6 software

Right now my evo is stuck on the original .1 software. When go to firmware update and htc software update it does not show that any updates are available. The only thing I have done to my phone is used unrevoked. What is the best way to get the .6 OTA update. I know I could go through the rooting process and do it that way, but I don't want to wipe my phone and would just like to do the regular update. Thanks for the help

Reboot and do not unrevoke and try to update.
If that doesn't work, *2

I just rebooted and went directly to software update and it still is not finding the .6 update. I work for sprint and I tried checking for an update on one of our demo phones and it did the same thing, so that rules out it being related to unrevoked.
If I call customer service, all their going to tell me to do is take it to a service center. Any more suggestions?

download the ota update RUU and try running it?
Connect to a wifi network and manually search for new updates

[Q] Regarding The Update, Serious!!...

Right now I do not have any sprint service... I have WIFI for Vo-IP, Data, I actually get picture mail from sprint since its tied to my google voice account so it comes from my sprint number but i cant reply back on the sprint number or i'll get a error message.
but to sum it up, they said I can update to gingerbread manually by Menu> software update> htc update
but i want to know can i upgrade (like I said above) or receive the OTA even if my sprint service is shut off...
I don't see how you could without Sprint service, but that is not to say that you can't. If you're rooted, don't worry about. Just wait for the rooted OTA update.

You sure can, the updates come from "sprint" but are actually developed by the OEM. Of course you will have to do this over WIFI. If your rooted just what for a ROM made from the official build and flash it.
thank you both but at the moment I am not rooted... i chose not to root it at the moment... probably later in the future.

Personal choices are respected, but when you decide to root, go with unrevoked. Quick and painless. But I will say root BEFORE you do an OTA, as I would expect unrevoked to have to be updated to work with the new update.

Please Help! I Think Sprint's Recent Evo4G Update 5.07.651.1 Messed Up My Phone!

To make a really long story short, after Sprint's recent ota 5.07.651.1 (the update that came with the Sprint connections optimizer) was installed on my phone, I could no longer download or update ANY apps on the android/google play market while connected to 4G. Went to the Sprint store to get it fixed, they tried and failed, got a new replacement handset with ota 5.07.651.1 already installed, same exact issue. Reached the conclusion that the update screwed things up. Downloaded and tried to use this RUU file to revert back to the old build right before this one (4.67.651.1):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1484240
This was unsuccesful as the error message it gave me said:
ERROR [140]: BOOTLOADER VERSION ERROR
The ROM Update Utility cannot update your Android phone.
Please get the correct ROM Update Utility and try again.
My hboot is 2.18.0001, is there a version of the above RUU file that is compatible with my bootloader version?
What is it you're trying to do?
If you unlock your bootloader, you can downgrade your ROM.

If your phone isn't rooted and your bootloader isnt unlocked, then you shouldn't be here. You should be in a sprint store politely asking them for a phone that works. I would get a working phone before you even try rooting/unlocking your phone. It may have larger issues that sprint wont want to fix after you root it.

Not getting OTA 4.2.1 Update

I recently got my galaxy nexus and it came with 4.1.1 installed and when I go to check for updates it says that I'm running the latest version. Help? Is there any way to push the update? I don't want to flash a custom ROM yet.
Depends on you're carrier. Nothing you can really do. Could be next week, could be next year (Verizon). I know you don't want to root but by the time you're carrier pushes any form of 4.2 we will all be on whatever is next and new anyways.

It depends upon your carrier..Your carrier(Sprint,Verizon,Samsung) decides when to push the ota.For ex-Takju gets the latest update first and then to yakju..
To get 4.2.1(currently latest) you should unlock bootloader in order to flash custom roms and enjoy 4.2.1:good:
That's the thing I have the yakju and my brother has the takju, they are both factory unlocked and they are both not getting the update. I had another galaxy nexus about a month ago and it got the update immediately, someone let me know if you're not getting the update either.
clear the google services framework and then check for the update.
Thanks, I've already tried that but no luck. Any more tips like that? The only thing that I can think of is that Google took off there factory image for download...?
try what i said before, but on wifi. just to be sure... unless you were already on wifi.
the next thing you could do is just flash the factory images without flashing userdata.. that should work without any problems.
Still no luck, could it be that my CID is on fido even though it's a factory unlocked unit? Is there any way to remove or get around CID limitations.
be sure that your Nexus I9250 is not rooted and have stock recovery and the bootloader is locked (not necessary but in case...) in order to receive update. if so, go to app. clear data and force stop "google service framework" then go to setting---->about phone and click on update. repeat these steps many time until you receive the ota update
Unfortunately I've already tried that too and still no luck .

[Q] Lollipop update over WIFI only?

Has anyone updated to Lollipop strictly over wifi? Reason I ask is I am using a VZW Note 4 on AT&T and the update services of course will not connect to the VZW systems over HSPA and without bootloader unlock I can't use the Qualcomm tools to enable the ATT LTE radios. Currently trying to work through ways to update to Lollipop since I just get "Software update is temporarily unavailable."
Thoughts, Ideas?
Thanks.
From what I read, you need to connect it to a PC and use the Verizon upgrade assistant (Or KIES when it's available there).

Thanks. Tried Kies but not the Verizon Upgrade Assistant. I'll give it a try and report back in a few.
The Verizon upgrade assistant says my phone is up to date even though it's still 4.4.4. Good times.
Updates show up there later. Give it a couple days or else borrow a Verizon SIM. At some point it will show up.
