So my battery life is just not good, I'm wondering if there is something I'm doing wrong or not doing.... but even when the phone is off it loses battery life really quick.
Is there maybe something I'm missing or need to do?

Happens to me too...I tried calibrator apps and still no luck i actually left cm9 last night and to rujelus22 it was good but ended up running into problems but maybe you should try flashing a different rom or charge your phone fully then reflash cm9 let the battery drain all the way then charge it again fully...

Yeah I wasn't sure if there is some setting I can change, might just end up getting the bigger battery like I did my Evo and call it a day! Other then that I love my cm9

Hey, I would try to flash an updated kernel for the cm9 alpha 3. Alpha3 comes with FD10 and I found that it made the Android OS drain my battery faster than it should. With FD26 the Android OS drain on my battery has been much lower. However, from what I hear which kernel works best varies on the phone, so I would try a couple others.

its been 3 days since i rooted my phone for the first time due to battery life issues. the first day my phone lasted for 10 hours. after a full discharge and full charge I've been experiencing horrible battery life again on medium usage. only getting 6 hours of battery life. what do you guys think would be the cause of this??? everybody is getting better battery life and mine seems to be horrible still. I don't have any out of the ordinary apps running either. do you think i need a new battery?

I have never found juggs to be a battery friendly ROM. It's a power ROM. Better for gaming, shooting live video etc. If you want the 15 to 20 hour battery some are getting then switch over to darksides ROM DIGITALWARFARE. It's powerful enough for gaming just not like juggs.
Also usage plays a roll to. If your gaming for 4 stright hours don't expect the phone to last that long because no phone will. Running Juggs with darksides kernal is kinda doesn't mix.

Download 2x battery from the market, it's done wonders for my phone and i use it with any rom i flash. Not to mention i ran that same setup for quite awhile and the maximum time out of a battery i've gotten comes using juggs 5 and v1 darkside kernel.
I'm running Juggernaut 5.0, with Eugene's Streamline kernel. I'm getting about 17hs. I'm also OCD, so I play, and tweak every setting possible. I game a lot, and usually get about 6-8 with that. It depends on a lot of factors though. I agree though, it's kind of an oxymoron to use Darkside kernel with that rom. They kind of clash.....I guess you could say, as far as battery goes anyways. I had the same issue when I used that kernel. Just my experience anyways. There's a lot of setups you could go with, so. Best to just test everything once, till you find your happy place.

i just switched over to synergy kernel for my jugg. been off the charger for about an hour and I've lost 10%. so im on pace to have about 4 hours more than i had with darkside. do you suggest streamline or will he results be similar to what im getting already ?

unfourtunately im seeing no results. i got about 6-7 hours still on decent amount of usage. i even went ahead and purchased the extended battery from nexus and im still seeing no improvements! im pretty sure its not a rogue app because i barely use any apps. im even using apps like 2x battery to try to get more juice. anyways i just wiped and installed digital warfare last night. just unplugged my phone at 100% lets see how this goes. ill report back.

what are you using? are you experiencing poor battery life as well?
Sent from my SGH-T989 using XDA
Your battery life also depends on a number of other factors as well. Do you have animations on or off? If they are on, turn them off. What brightness is your screen? I turn mine all the way down. How many widgets are you running? I don't use widgets. Is your phone constantly syncing with Facebook, Twitter etc? I only turn my sync on for Gmail and Google. Is your GPS on? I have mine off at all times. Do you stream a lot of music/videos? How many programs do you have running in the background? I make sure everything is closed or off except for the programs that need to be on. If I need to use a program/app I will open it, I don't need it constantly running shortening my battery life. Etc Etc.
I also recommend using the app Juice Defender. Yes it runs in the background at all times, but, it greatly improves battery life. I use it all the time and it's fantastic.
I typically have my phone on for 15-17hrs a day and by the time I go to bed I still have over 50% battery left. I am currently just on a stock ROM and not Juggs, but my results with Juggs were around the same as well, even with the Darkside Kernel. Peace

+1 I don't use juice defender on my device since I am happy with the battery life I get so far. However, I have Juice Defender on my wife's SGS2 with custom settings and her battery life has improved a lot. Before her phone would only last 10-12 hours with moderate use. Now she gets over 20 hours with the same usage.
Use tdjs ROM

I'm using aokp now but I found this to be the best setup for battery for me.
I recommend you try this and see if you still have this issue.
Juggernaut + synergy + juice defender on aggressive mode = awesome battery life.. awesome enough for you to have multiple MiniBaths. :banghead:

I flashed calks 1.6 the other day and noticed big battery drain. I reflashed today just to make sure. Drains about 20% an hour in my pocket. As soon as I start using it, it drains so fast i can watch the percent countdown lol. It dropped 20% posting this. Its also charging weird. When I plugged it in it was at 65% and in 20 min it was full. This is very odd because I used this rom many times and it had great battery life. Anyone else experience anything like this on their E4GT ?

Must be a bad battery, how long have you have your battery? also have you removed battery stats?
Try using phone at maxxed out power until it drops to 0% then recharge battery until full, I recommend overnight.
And get back to me...
I don't think its the battery unless it went bad overnight lol. It was fine the other day. Something weird happened a few weeks ago i dont know if it has anything to do with this but I flashed a rom that I had flashed before many times (phantoms blazer ics) and it aborted the install. I reset my phone with sfhubs one-click , formatted it,
And tried flashing a new rom and same thing. I posted about it in Q&A and no one really helped out too much. I tried everything new downloads, new kernels you name it I tried it. And it still happened, everything I tried, to flash got aborted on el26. It was so odd cause it was doing it to old downloaded roms and the el26 I've been using since ics . I could flash a gb rom in el29 but as soon as a flashed el26 and tried flashing something it would happen again. The only thing that would flash successfully is calks format all (every time)So I got frustrated, and i stayed on stock rooted el29 for a week or 2 since no one would help. The other day I figured id try again off a fresh reset and new downloads, and it went fine, I flashed a few roms but decided to go back to calks 1.6 . And now the battery issue ? Should I wipe battery stats? I don't really know what that does. Btw I reflashed and it didn't solve anything, still draining. I will try running it down and charging overnight. Any other suggestions?

Btw I've had this phone with the same battery for about 5 months now
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda app-developers app
Did you flash back to gb ?
Or flash another Rom but imo its probably due to an app installed that's not ready for ics
only thing I can think of is I downloaded the T.5.3.0.32 VVM for ICS. The one I downloaded is supposed to safe for ICS. You think that could be draining my battery?

Time to upgrade to a released rom....
Calk's 1.6 is based on old, unreleased code and isn't supported. Calkulin has moved on and no longer dev'ing for this phone.
I would like to but I liked that rom for its stability and battery life, but my question is why is my battery life bad now. Ive ran this same rom (same download) before and it was great. Why the bad battery life all of a sudden?

Flashed CM10 last night and have been playing with it all day. was noticing quick drain and then even faster charging. I looked into it and saw lots of recommendations to wipe battery stats after flashing any rom.
Currently waiting for my charge to reach 100% so I can use Battery Calibrator (in app store) I will let you know if this fixes my problem.
PS This app is the same as deleting battery stats from recovery mode.

I have experienced this as well. I tried wiping battery stats once but that was some what close to when I first flashed the ROM in the first place. Haven't flashed any other ICS ROMs so I can't give you any insight on that. But I will agree with the above. Wipe battery stats should help.

Jb still charges very fast after calibration of the battery. A new battery is $20, so I'm not too worried about it.

Are you using the stock battery charger? also on agats and kuban kernel there is an option to increase/decrease the charge rate. But one thing with Lithium Ion batteries as well as other batterys a high/fast charge will decrease their life. also a failing battery(quick drain) will charge much faster than a good battery.
It's more of a kernel issue than a ROM issue.
Unfortunately if you want jb, your kernel choices are very, very limited.
I have fast charging issues as well on JB.. One reason I reverted back to my Daily driver.. I just got a new battery and not try to have it in bad health too quick already
-TeaM VeNuM Like A Boss
I use the stock charger, and others. It charges fast with all of them.
LI8, as far as I'm concerned, is about perfect. Except for battery drain. Its atrocious. Anyone figure out why, and is there a fix yet?
So thats whats have been draining my battery lol
Sent from my SGH-T999 using Tapatalk 2
Yeah its pretty bad. Hopefully someone figures out a fix.
If I could get comparable batt life from LI8 to Frosty ICS, it would definitely be my daily driver. So far on Frosty ICS I am 21 hrs with 2:49 screen time and 25% batt left. Hopefully this will get sorted out on the official update.
It's because you're comparing a final/polished OS to one that isn't supposed to be used yet because it was never released. Also, ICS battery life will be better than JB in general anyways.
Sent from my phone. Prepare for atrocious Swype typos.
There are multiple causes. One being media scanning. It seems to constantly scan for media files and get hung up or something. Theres also a binary file that can cause battery drain. Cant remember which right now.
There are a few other causes but cant remember them all right off hand.
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda app-developers app
It is the kernel. As long as source is not out for kernel and devs cannot work on it battery will drain.
Yeah I'm testing ics right now and battery life is better. Not sure why, probably some incomplete stuff in the leaked builds that cause drains.
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda app-developers app
Simply do this test. Grab a jb rom that supports both stock and custom kernel. Check how fast battery drains with stock kernel and how slow with custom kernel. Pay attention to android system how high it is whem you using stocl kernel and how low it is with the custom kernel. So all things the same, only kernel changed, android system goes down meaning it is not the roms fault it is the kernel.
My battery is Draining in CyanogenMod 10/10.1 . I have tried calibrating my battery, done battery cycles, used tons of different kernel with usage of different governors, but the battery doesn't last for even a day. Deep sleeps come about 96%-85%. I have even turned off WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS etc.
In Gingerbread the battery is very good and does not drain like in CyanogenMod. I have tried battery saving apps such as Juice Defender and noticed that battery drains more faster than usual. Is there any FiX?!
I just wiped my phone and started from scratch and decided to not add any tweaks at all. I am using Cm9 RC8 with Hursky kernel 2.6 and I've noticed a huge jump in my battery life. Before I was using RAM Manager with Cross breeder with XBurst on RC 6 with Chronos and I find my phone is actually faster without them. Before, with limited use, I was getting 16 hours maximum and now I was able to get a day and a half under the same conditions!
I wonder which change would make the biggest difference, but maybe give it a try. My phone feels more stable too.

Probably because CM 10/10.1 is still at its early stages? Cm9 is quite stable thus the battery is good.

I wanted a solution on how to get good battery life in Jelly Bean...but I will try Cm9 with fresh apps.
If you want a even better battery life than tebor8 is having, use CM9 RC2 or RC3 with 2.6.35 kernel, or the older Slimbeam ROM with 2.6.35 kernel. The old 2.6.35 kernel is draining much less than the new 3.x kernel in CM9 and CM10.

I want to use the latest CyanogenMod, but still if the battery lasts for at least 1 and a half day, its somewhat enough.
