I recently flashed the newest version of MIUI 2.4.27 for my EVO 4G and, for some reason, the USB Mass Storage option seems to be missing or just not working when I connect to my computer, I even downloaded the UMS apk that other builds have been using for ICS ROMs and it didn't work when connected to my computer, is there a fix that anyone can suggest?
I've also been having problems with Car Mode, it just keeps restarting no matter how many times I shut it off, I'd appreciate some help with that too

So, I've played with this thing for 4 hours and I'm about to throw it at the wall.
This is my wife's evo. I rooted it like a year ago when she got it. Shortly after she settled on a CM7 ROM she liked and I haven't touched the phone for 6 months or more. She used my Epic the other day that has the latests ACS SyndicateFrozen ROM on it and she now wants an epic because she likes the ROM so much. I'm trying to appease her by putting ACS' Elite ROM on her EVO.
I started by trying to plug her phone in to my PC, the one I originally used to root it way back when. The drivers are already installed on here. My PC acknowledges that I plugged the phone in, but I cannot view the file directory in My Computer. I then go to the phone and it says USB Debugging enabled, and gives me the option to disable. Neither way allows me to read the phones files. I've tried 2 aftermarket cables (not the HTC one). I've tried updating the HTC Sync software, although she doesn't use it. I also tried installing the HTC Sync software and drivers on my laptop and using that PC, same problem. I've thumbed thru the phones menu for hours and haven't found anything that is turned off that shouldn't be. When I plugged the phone into my laptop after installing the drivers, it acknowledged the phone, said installing drivers, and then confirmed drivers were installed successfully.
All I want to do is access the SD card so I can drop a ROM on it and reflash her phone. This is turning into a nightmare! The CM7 ROM on there now has been giving her random issues for the past month, any chance this is the cause?
I'm hoping there is something stupidly obvious that I'm overlooking.
Thanks for your help!
Reboot into recovery, while connected to your computer, and then select the USB-MS option. Your computer should recognize the card as a drive and give you access to it.

Some other alternatives would be to download the rom directly from the phone, pull the SD card out and put it in a card reader, or use one of the wireless file transfer apps found in the market.
I'm using King's Alliance ROM and have had that same issue on both 7.5 and 7.6 versions. I have one of those Sprint Battery Boost devices that allow you to put an SD card in them and use it as a jump drive, so I do that instead. I would use a simple SD adapter card but the sandisk adapter i have always says it's protected somehow and won't let me transfer ROMs to it. Sorry I don;t have a solution, but I feel for ya

This worked after 7 or 8 tries of toggling USB-MS. It finally connected to the computer saying it was only a USB1.1 device instead of USB2.0. Got the files copied, gonna wipe it tonight.
Thanks for the help!

Hello, I'm new user, but have been reading this forums for a long time.
I've just installed CM7 Nightly build 110901, everything went fine.
But now, I'm trying to connect my Defy to the PC to transfer some files, and the PC simply won't recognize my Defy as a Mass Storage device.. I've trying searching for solutions, but didn't find anything.
Anyone can help me, please?
Thanks.
EDIT: Nevermind guys, I was being stupid. The USB mode was selected to Charge Only!
Quick question, I found that in 4.1.1 JB roms when connecting to PC to transfer files there is no option to just turn on you device as external drive, yet you see MTP and Camera mode. In both modes I found transfer speeds are MUCH lower and behavior is totally different on computer than before for ICS. IS there a way to activate "normal" file transfer mode in 4.1.1 JB without using MTP or Camera transfer modes ?
Thanks.
I tried 2 diffirent JB based roms and MTP this is in both so I guess it's a new "thing" for 4.1.1
Thanks once again.
`Hi all,
it seems the overall connectivity of my phone to my pc is screwed up. First of, I've never got this phone to appear as mass storage in windows explorer. While I was on a JB custom ROM, I ended up using moborobo. ADB and fastboot were working. I switched to Carbon KK ROM and ofc still not able to prompt windows explorer mass storage device. And yeah, I tried severall different packages of drivers, HTC sync crap and what not. I tried moborobo again, it recognizes the device and it's able to scan my phone's contents, but I get errors when I try to upload a file. Also, adb works when booted, but not in recovery so I can't sideload or push files either. so, effectively, I have no way currently to drop files to my phone. I miss removable SD-card
I would love to get this phone to work as a mass storage device again, does anyone has got some ideas? thanks
I flashed CM11 kernel and file management in moborobo is working again. Also fixed wifi and bluetooth. Seems carbon kernel is pretty broken

The easey way is just to disable usb debuging and you will see your sd card as mass storage when you finish enable usb debuging again.
Hi there!
I've downloaded and installed the latest Cyanogen Mod 11 Snapshot (M9) for my HTC One X (endevouru). The phone works internally fine but I can't connect Micro USB to Micro SD Card OTG, Micro USB to USB OTG or transfer files on (any) computer. The only way to transfer files for me is to upload to Google Drive/Dropbox and download to my phone. Yes, I have enabled USB Debugging, file transfers, etc, ntohing.
Is anyone able to assist in fixing by either on the phone itself or a link to original stock img/rom/whatever or a ROM that everything works on? As well as a ROM that works 100% (file transfers etc) that is based on AOSP/CM11 that has a theme chooser?
Thanks.

This I had the same happened for my HTC One X phone, but I didn't have Cyanongen Mod nor Backup.
Bump
Bump.
Yeah I have a similar problem. Windows (8.1) doesn't recognize the phone as a mass storage device but as a cd-rom drive. What I have tried: Device manager-> uninstall driver -> reboot -> reconnect phone -> No change.
Download latest htc sync manager to get the latestes drivers-> Install works fine -> Sync manager can't connect to phone, needs latest drivers -> Can't connect to phone and nothing gets installed.
So I'm stuck. Can' t access my phone to to, well, do anything.
I can connect my phone to my girlfriends laptop so the cable is working fine and it's probably a windows issue and I do have some problems generally with usb devices disconnecting, but that doesn't help me much since I can't find a working solution to that either.
I'm on ARHD 31.3 (I can't update to the latest version since I can't access my phone, arrghhh!!)
Any Ideas?
