Accidentally uninstalled camera. - EVO 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Yesterday when trying to take a picture, I noticed that it didnt look right. I uninstalled the system app camera. I thought I did a back up through titanium backup but I didn't. How can I get that back on my evo so ther camera will work again?

You will have to pull the camera apk from a stock rom and push it to the system/app folder.

I am using a snergy rom..

SERIOUSLY!? Just reflash the rom it will be there again

I have to much stuff on there. I rather just grab the apk and flash it of i can..

If you just wipe system in recovery and then reflash the ROM your data will remain intact it will only replace system. The method of pushing the apk is also easy, if you have root explorer this is much easier. I would also try just putting the apk on the sd card then simply installing it. Make sure though you pull the one from Synergy rom.

I did find a newer htc cam apk but it wouldnt install. I tried to use root explorer but i am not to familiar with it so what i did, it didnt work.

ok..I just wiped the system and reinstalling it...thanks for your help...

I pm'ed you if you need more help

Getting Camera Back
If you want to get your camera back(if rooted and ROM flashed) just re-flash the rom or find another rom

[Q] Stock 4.2 camera is not working!

Today I read a little guide from youmobile, about installing the new camera in android 4.2. (cant post link since im new)
I did everything except I forgot to backup first. Now everytime i start up the phone, open camera or open gallery it comes "Gallery has crashed".
Anyone knows what I might have done wrong? I used ROM Manager -> Boot into clockwordmod recovery -> flash zip -> and i chose the zip.
The camera is working trough apps like Snapchat, but not trough the stock app.
I could also use the stock 4.1.2 gallery and camera .apk so I atleast can get back my camera.
I am running on 4.1.2 takju nexus, with Air Kernel 3.0.46.
Please help.

try this zip. it's fixed so that everything should work.

if you still get crashes, you may want to reflash your Rom (without wiping).
also try fixing permissions, either in clockwork or rom manager

Thanks. I'm new tho, so what do you mean by fixing permissions. Could you give me step by step?
Go into recovery(CWM) and select the fix permissions option (might be under advanced)
Swype'ed on my CM10 Galaxy Nexus
Installing the .zip file already fixes permissions. Have you tried renaming the apk to Gallerygoogle2.apk in your preferred file manager?
second post, the link works perfectly.
Thanks!

Then you should have two versions of camera and gallery. If so delete the one you flashed via root explorer (es file explorer might work too). For that matter Titanium Backup might do the trick as well. Just be sure you choose the right ones. Reboot into recovery and wipe dalvik cache (just for good measure) and start it back up. If this doesn't work let us know.

[Q] auto update on reboot

hi guys and gals i am taking my first steps into the world of rooting my android phone it is a samsung galaxy note II GT-N7105. well thanks to a few giudes found on these forums it was fairly straight froward(even for me mega noob lol) having rooted my phone i wanted to install a clean blank rom (think that the term for it) i found one, from this site, added it to my interntal memory of my phone, then using clock work recovery mod. phone reboots comes up with lots of difrent opion including install from zip, so follow what it said, got the installed sucessfuly, hit the restart/reboot opion phone boots up and then comes up with android is updating 1 of 84 when it gets to 84 it boots into stock rom with everything still there. having looked around and finding MSKIPS post and His F.A.Q i saw this... I flashed CWM but each time I reboot the Stock Recovery is back
There is an auto recovery restore system on Android that will reflash the Stock Recovery if you flash CWM on a Stock Rom.
Use Root Explorer to Mount the system folder as R/W (or use a free app from the Market). Delete the file recovery-from-boot.p from /system.
so i though ah that must be the problem, at least i now know what to do about it, so i first tryed to rename the file in question, no joy still booted to stock. i then tryed to delete the whole file, it deleted and its still deleted but yet same again, reboot.. oh look android is updating. anything else that i could try? thanks inadvance

Zip disappears

When I try to flash a new Zip file, it disappears from the directory, both on SD internal and EXTsd card.......Goo manager FC and Rom manager says it's not there?
Any ideas to check for?
Re-installed Goo.im, Rom manager, still no luck.
Is there a way to manually Unzip and install without rebooting in recovery?
Tried to fix permissions, got "an error occurred while attempting to run privileged commands."?
What are you trying to flash?
Also, if you constantly moved from TW to AOSP, you were supposed to flash the zip to restore your SD card AFTER you flash the TW rom. This may be your issue as starting with android 4.2 Google added multi user and moved your files to a folder named /0 (or legacy).
Most of the time I had issues with not locating the zip it was due to this error. My recommendation, download and move the file to the root of your extSD before going in to recovery.
Also, remember Goo.im downloads are saved on the gooim folder in your internal SD card, not the downloads folder.

Thanks. Haven't run any roms on this one. Running stock and rooted with Aviate. I've tried dloading directly to extsd, transfering from my laptop to extsd and SD.
I was trying to flash the Dark Ink lockscreen v2 and 16 ink lockscreen. I'm stumped.....I was able to flash Bravia Engine, Exposed Framework, Multi-Window Mod......it's just the Lockscreen zips. And the only reason I was doing it was because I wanted the ink to work without the S-Pen.....Not that big of a deal I guess. It has to be something simple I am overlooking...
EDIT: Fixed....sort of.... It wouldn't install from any other folder than the CWM Backup folder?? If anyone has an idea as to why, I would love to know?

Alot of your problems are because you're trying to flash mods on a stock odexed system. If you want to flash rom mods you need to flash a rom that is deodexed. Basically a stock just rooted system breaks up the app in your system. This allows faster boot times. An deodexed system compiles the split up apps together. This will allow you to flash mods and easily modify your system. When you flash a mod you replace the original app. If it's odexed you don't replace the whole app.

Thank You. :good: I thought I flashed the "Stock_rooted_deodexed CALK7," But I used the "back to stock thread" which includes the Odexed version, and what you're saying makes sense.
I live, I learn.....:fingers-crossed:

[Q] Install stock camera after delete it

Hey. I was trying to do something with the camera apk from system/prv-app on stock kk and I took it out of there. I rebooted the phone and as supposed I lost the app. I thought if I would put it back it would just install itself but it didn't. I got the apk but when I try to install it says "app not installed"
Anyway I can install it?
Thank you
Just copy it there with odex file, set permissions to bot files
r w

And reboot the phone, you'll see a message Android is upgrading and that's it. Don't try to install the app.
Well, I don't have the .odex file... will it be made automatically?
No, you need it.
So I can't install it now?
Try this one.

It's mine, extracted from priv-app.
It worked! Thanks a lot!
