Orange 1.28 Software Update... - HTC One X

Does anyone know when Orange users can expect this?
Thanks.
S.

The software updates don't depend on the carrier you use,it depends on the country you are.For exampe 1.28.401 is for Europe,1.28.701 is for...i realy don't know.In what country do you are?

I live in the UK and my phone says no updates are available. But I understand that 02 users have had updates...

No. The updates do depend on what carrier if it is a branded handset. HTC make the new firmware and then give it to the various carriers to customise and approve. This means it will lag behind the releases for the generic regions.

No idea. I've tried asking Orange and the person I spoke to had no clue either.

Thanks mate. I guess I'll just have to wait and see...

Not on the branded phones. Nobody at O2 seems to have a clue when it'll be pushed either

Yeah,sorry,forgot about branded ones.

Vodafone UK users got the update last week...

I'm on Orange in the UK and got the 1.28 update the day it was released. My phones software version is 1.28.401.9.
The phone was bought through DialAPhone and has no Orange branding or customisation (thankfully) so I'm not sure if its an unlocked handset on Oranges network, or locked to Orange, but I definately got the update via the Orange network.

You've got an unbranded handset and it is most probably unlocked. If you got the One X direct from Orange then it would have been branded.
The updates actually downloaded from HTC servers and not Orange so it doesn't matter what network you're actually connected to. HTC still need Orange to approve the new firmware though before it will be released.

[Q] Arc on Orange UK

Anyone have the new Arc on Orange?
Is it Orange branded? How much Orange software/games demos have they loaded it with and can you remove them?
Thanks in advance!
dude orange cripple their fones with the crap they stick on them which you cannot remove unless you root, im leaving them this month to get the arc on a diff carrier, but if you want to stay with orange my best advice would be to upgrade or get it via carphonewarehouse, phones4u or mobiles.co.uk, that way the handset comes unlocked and has no bloatware from manufacturers and will have firmware as its ment to be therefore will get updates far quicker
or reflash to the decrypted ROM in the development section

+1 on that.. always better to go unbranded - you will get more updates and quicker too..
well I had no problems reflashing my ROM on my Xperia X10 and I never rooted it. You just need to use the flash tool that is also in the Development section

SE have stated simlocked arcs will have locked boot loaders whereas sim free ala cpw p4u and mobiles.co.uk ones will all have unlocked or unlockable bootloaders which opens up the phone for further advancement with the devs
Thanks all for the comments.
I need to order via Orange - I have a couple of contracts with them and am due for upgrade. None of the retailers can get close to what they have offered me.
I currently have an Orange branded Desire - hence my original question.
I dont really want to flash it (yet) - so back to my original question;
Does anyone actually have an Orange branded Arc and what have they loaded on to it?

bit too early for people who buy direct from orange, the reason is that they havent released it yet... officially, i think its only available for upgrades right now
Orange stores were selling them from last Friday.
OK - well I'll have my Orange supplied Arc with me tomorrow.
So I'll report back and share the love (info) !
I'm waiting for one as well
the guy on the phone told me it should not be sim locked and branding is questionable, since Gingerbread is new, there's possibility it's not yet branded - only the startup logo..
let's see if it's truth

No way in he(( it's not branded. If you get it through the carrier, it's definitely got the branding!
I should have it today, will keep you posted
if it's branded, I will return it - I didn't mess with flashing yet, don't want to crash my phone ?
ok, finally got mine from Orange (Slovakia)
and the guy was right !!
no logo on chassis
no startup Orange screen
no Orange custom icons
no Orange menu
NOTHING !! It was worth, I saved 300€
Update:
Branded as expected...
-Boot screen
-Orange App Shop
-Orange Backup
-Orange Games
-Homescreen selector (choose between Orange and SE)
-Orange Maps
-Orange Plus
-Orange TV
-Orange Wednesday
-Orange Photo Upload
-Your Orange
Also has some games demos, but I suspect they might have been put on by SE - I was able to uninstall them.
In the (Orange branded) box:
-Arc (with Orange logo on rear) & battery
-USB cable/mains charger
-2 x screen protectors (1 fitted to the screen, 1 spare)
-8GB card (was already installed in the phone)
-Earphones
-HDMI cable
I presume this is SIM locked too... but what's the quickest/easiest way of telling?
(I only have Orange SIM cards in my household!)
FYI - This is Orange UK
wow... so I guess I got lucky - I heard they are going to brand Orange SK as well, but it takes time since Gingerbread's new (Froyo is branded here)

Find a mate that's on a different network and borrow their SIM?
@discos7u,
I'm interested to hear how the Orange-branded version seems to work. What have they nobbled?
Presumably there's no (wifi) tethering available (which I understand the unbranded versions have got)?
[I can probably then justify to myself that it's worth shelling out the extra cash for an unbranded version!]
Cheers!

I upgraded my Orange contract from CPW last week, free phone on £30 pm contract. Ordered the phone last Thursday, delivered at home Friday. CPW are the only ones stocking the silver one which I think looks much better than the black/blue one.

o2-UK HTC One X - branded

Im getting mines directly from o2-UK and im wondering if it will be branded physically on the phone or will it just be things like the splash screen?
If you get a branded version then it will only be firmware. You don't get a network logo on any of the UK One X's.
If it is branded then you'll have to wait for O2 to approve firmware before it'll be pushed out to you as an update.
Ah ok cool.. Ordered my phone on Wednesday and the wait is killing me
I want to play with it!!!!

Anyone in Australia have Nougat?

So after some uneventful conversations on the HTC live chat, I'm wondering if any of you have an unlocked HTC 10 from Australia and have the nougat update?

It started rolling out about a week and a half ago. Are you rooted? If so you won't get an OTA update. You'll need to update manually
I'm not. To my knowledge I have a stock ROM as I got this handset from JB.

Would this be an Optus OTA? To my knowledge, Telstra and Vodafone haven't released any comms about Nougat update for the HTC 10 while Optus was testing both the M9 and 10 earlier this month. M9 was definitely listed as released but 10 was still marked as being tested earlier this week.

As I understand it, JB HiFi was selling phones with either Optus or Vodafone firmware. Mine's from JB too and is on 1.95.710.3 which I understand to be the Vodafone version.
Optus update status states 'Testing Android 7.0 update and VoLTE – completion expected late February':
https://yescrowd.optus.com.au/t5/Blog/Android-Software-Updates-16-02-2017/ba-p/198463
UPDATE: Actually, Vodafone has HTC 10 listed as well as "Testing complete, awaiting feedback from HTC", hopefully that doesn't mean a long wait.
http://community.vodafone.com.au/t5...-2017-Software-Update-Weekly-Wrap/td-p/424073
JB sold an unlocked handset which I am with on the Optus network. I am on 1.95.710.3 as well. I was under the impression that HTC sends the software to unlocked devices first specifically, and then to carriers who then distribute it for the optus devices. Would I be correct in assuming that?

That's usually the case though I'm not entirely sure about the nature of our firmware (mine's the same as yours) - is it a true unbranded retail or an unlocked carrier version? I know the Moto Razr I had in the past was an unlocked Vodafone handset.

Bump.
My HTC 10 is right now in the process of downloading 2.42.710.2 (1.19Gb) OTA. It's this one:
http://ausdroid.net/2017/02/27/nougat-update-htc-10-now-rolling-vodafone-customers/
Got it as well!
Installed here too.. however no live wallpapers. I personally hate all the default graphics on the HTC10 so in MM had a Sony live wallpaper which I liked.
Anyone else here have issues with live wallpapers?

Android 8.1?

Anyone have any idea or hear any news of when Android 8.1 will be pushed to UK Nokia 6.1? News online 4-5 days ago that it started rolling out OTA in India?
Nothing here on my UK model. Stuck on February security patch.
I got the 8.1 update with the april patch a few days ago (april 13rd) in france

I got it from Carphone Warehouse here in the UK, they got exclusive rights to sell it. Model TA-1050.

Its annoying. Hopefully get it rolled out ASAP.
Mine is from Carphone Warehouse too. I've tried using a VPN to spoof that I'm in India and France but nothing is coming through.
I'm hoping that 8.1 will allow me to use the more recent Google Pixel camera APKs as I'm currently having to use an ancient one in order for HDR processing to work.

I've tried using a VPN to spoof being in France with no luck. I wonder if it's tied to my IMEI.
Any suggestions as to something else that might work would be good.

Mine is also TA-1043 version 5
According to https://nokiapoweruser.com/variants-nokia-7-plus-8-sirocco-6-plus-1-emerge-various-certifications/ there are 5 Nokia 6.1 variants : TA-1050, TA-1043, TA-1045, TA-1016, TA-1054
I bought a TA-1043 from amazon.de (shipped to ireland) and i have not gotten the 8.1 upgrade either....
Does anyone know what the difference between the various models (1043 / 1050) is?
I just got the TA-1043 in Hungary from Germany (Amazon) and got 8.1 on first boot.
Anyone with the TA-1050 model got this update yet? I'm not very impressed given my security patch is from the 1st Feb... It's nearly May.
Anyone know what model lauched in USA the other day? Be interesting to see if they also got the update out the box.
Carphone Warehouse have exclusivity in the UK - not sure if my model is 'their' brand and therefore has slowed updates. Bit annoying that the brand new Nokia 6 is behind the old Nokia 6 with updates though - kind of makes me wonder what the real point of Android One is.

Yeah I don't think that makes a difference. They are sim free/unlocked devices.
As an android one phone, the updates are pushed directly from Google OTA (supposedly). Just find it strange that it's still not pushed in the UK.

Considering i have a TA-1043 (same as a user above who also ordered off Amazon Germany but is based in hungary and received the update on first boot), i'm guessing the updates are just country limited. UK/Ireland seem to be down the pecking order.
Has anyone tried connecting over a VPN to do the update (or at least download it)?
I’ve tried. No luck.

Because you have a branded phone and your carrier releases the updates later than c432 which is stock no branded. Also the build number may differ from stock c432.

you can rebrand your device to another region code. Search for "rebrand [device name]. This is dangerous territory so be sure you really know what you do unless you wanna have a very pretty paper weight.
New 163 firmware has appeared on Firmware Finder for those interested.
C782 still on .120
All updates for C782 go through operator approval even if you have bought a SIM free device from Carphone Warehouse. This process takes a long time and if one network rejects the update then will cause further delays.

What has it got to do with whatevef network your on? I have a sim free phone and can use multiple sims.
Are you effectively saying that no networks in the UK have approved the update for their devices and as such everyone is being delayed even though your device is not restricted by carrier bloatware and settings

Correct. C782 is a UK specific firmware that comes on all carrier provided handsets and through retailers like Carphone Warehouse. Huawei no longer provide carrier specific firmware.
C432 EU firmware does not go through any carrier approval, so updates are rolled out quicker. UK updates are provided by Huawei but they have to be approved by the major carriers. Three, Vodafone, EE, O2. Only when they approve firmware will Huawei make it available.
This is why the UK is still on B120 with B150 (build 3rd August) is pending approval. EU meanwhile has seen 3 major updates since B120.
If you have a bootloader unlock code, it's well worth changing your device to C432 so you can get updates quicker, and get away from the BS that plagues the UK update process.

Thanks for the full reply. I never thought that would be the case. I assumed I had purchased a completely 'clean' phone as such and would not have the update issue. In fairness the phone has been performing great but I don't like being left out of all the update goodness that comes along.
Does the c432 latest updates bring much in the way of improvements to the phone and would be worth changing over too?
