Hi,
Just tried to change roms from Villain to Revolution and i guess the zip was corrupt, now i obviously cant boot the phone.... I have a clockwork mod backup ON MY PC but dont know how to push it to the phone, is there anyway to get the cwm backup on the phone or even another rom.zip so i can get booted again..
I can still get into fastboot and recovery.... HELP PLEASE!!!!
Thanks all
Flash ruu > push recovery > flash custom Rom of your choice and ALWAYS leave a working nandroid backup on the phone

Was originally Orange UK locked... will any european RUU work or does i need a specific one...sorry for the total noob question
You need your original ruu.

It's a golden rule of mine too have 2 seperate backups and at least two roms on sd at all times. You never know what could happen. I had a clockworkmod update through market corrupt all my backups so the only thing that saved me was the two roms I had on my sd. Just a little advice

I think you will need this ruu on orange UK

Also I'm pretty sure you have to relock your bootloader before you can flash

okay im currently running Leedroid rom on my ONE X wich is nice, but after flashing my screen start getting the flickering so want to go back to stock, because it never had problems..
what i tried to do, but didn't work was:
Booting into recovery and recover my Nandroid
recover my nandroid finished perfekt without any errors.
but when rebooting it stops at the HTC screen and enter bootloop (can't shut it down)
I went back into recovery and flashed LeeDroid rom again and flashed boot.img and now my ONE X is working but still with Leedroid..
What am i doing wrong ??
do i need to flash some stock Boot.img ?
i thought, when recovering nandroid everything goes back as it was then...
i never had problems like this before with my previous android phones
PLEASE HELP ME GET BACK TO STOCK
as far as i know you can't flash any boot.img from recovery while we have s-on. So i would assume that extends to flashing a boot.img from a system backup? My suggestion would be to find the backup on your device, open it, copy the boot.img to your computer and after restoring your backup, do a fastboot flash of the boot.img you just copied.
But you could also give Android Revolution HD a try, its like stock but better, and i don't have any issues using it

The best ...is to make a nandroid backup of your original stock rom, after unlocking bootloader and flashing cwm recovery, so then, to get ota, you copy boot.img from nandroid backup, put it in ur fastboot folder, flash it , then go to recovery and restore the nandroid, then flash stock recovery and lock ur bootloader again. And dont forget to backup ur sd personal date just in case.

I am also worried that I might not get OTA.
I have bought the phone from a not so big shop and everything seems to be fine with it (I have the menu on my own language, no service provider logos etc), but I think it was made for southern Asia: there is thai language built in for example, and a few apps, that I don't think are default (I have suspended a few)
How can I check if the phone has been tampered with?
Can I update to 4.0.4 & 4.1 manually somehow if I don't get OTA?
Right, I've had a look around the forum a bit now for help with my issue but decided it's time to post my own thread.
I unlocked and rooted my phone a while back installed clockwork recovery and CM 9. I now want to upgrade to the latest version of CM but my recovery won't boot up...
I've tried downloading the CWM manager to my phone and re flashing from there and tried flashing other recovers and yet it still tried Clock work mod flashes on and immediately off and my phone reboots...
Can anyone lend me their knowledge?
Thanks.
Put recovery.img in the fastboot folder
Put your phone in fastboot mode
Open dosprompt ( cmd prompt )
Go to fastboot folder
Type :
Fastboot erase cache
Fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
Fastboot erase cache
And then enter recovery
I suggest you flash the latest cmw recovery 5.8.4.0

Currently at work so will try this when i get back home.
Although, im sure this is the process i followed when trying to fix the problem before posting this thread.
Will update.
i have the htc AT&T and everytime i load clockworkmod it just boots to the htc logo and stays there
twrp will take but it wont work right, "Failed to mount cache"
If its getting messy. Download the recovery and flash it via the htc one x toolkit in dev section. No commands just clicking LOL.
You put the zip into the recovery folder.connect yoir phone then just flash recovery. Personally twrp recovery works better. More options..

Twrp is failing too, I even locked the bootloader ran ruu then unlocked and rooted, Twrp let me root but won't install another rom. Fails to mount cache.
I guess at least I have root though

Hi all
I am new to root and roms related part
So i want to know it from all of u ( u all experts) that is there any kind of problem (either related to brick or bad perfomance or damage or degradation to the internal ic) with rooting or using custom roms...???
If there any , plz point it out and help me
And is it possible to come back to my orignal stock with all the things as it is as it was before the root?
Thnx in advance , plz help
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium
Yes you cam go back to stock, and no i have never experienced bad things with rooting and running customs roms. But you have to read the tutorials first to learn about what you need to know and need to do ! Don't go messing about with little to no knowledge !
Read up on fastboot and the commands how to flash recoverys and boot.img files.
These are the steps to follow
Unlock the bootloader at htcdev site
Flash a custom recovery
Make a NANDROID BACKUP of the stock rom
Flash the boot.img from the new rom
Perform a FULL wipe in the recovery
Install the new rom
And safe the stock rom nandroid backup somewhere safe (pc, cloud storage)
Thnx man...!!!
U helped me a lot with rooting , thnx again
One of my frnd said that he had solved a prob of bricked samsung phone with some kind of tiny device...dont know what...bt he was saying that he had done it
Is this possible for htc one x?
And finally one formal question..
Is there any prob if i get stuck and ask u for help?
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium
No its no problem ! And bricking the hox is almost impossible because we have S-ON devices .... Just check that the battery is full before you start
What is the meaning of S-ON device
I frequently came to know that u guys use S-ON & S-OFF device...what does that mean??
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium
S-off is a security parameter, if you have s-off you do not need to flash stuff with fastboot commands. Then you would be able to flash a complete rom including the kernel from the recovery. So no need for a pc !
But s-on is not so bad everyone thinks it is, because now bricking the phone is pretty much impossible
Wooooo...!!!
That means if i dont know exectly how to root ur htc one x then also there is no chance to brick ur device...am i right?
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium
Note that there is always a chance of getting it bricked ! But the chances are minimal to 0 if you follow the right path
Awsome bro...
Can u suggest the right way which u thinks the best for rooting and installing new rom and meanwhile keeping backup of stock rom for further use if needed to switch back to orignal one...??
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium
Well the main steps are in my first post of this thread ...
You need to learn about fastboot and the needed commands, here is more info
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1605720
And if you want to usr a all in one tool you can use this. But please read all info carefully and make sure you got it all prepared before you start. And charge the batt to full power to avoid issues.

Want to install ARHD ROM
Hello Mr. Hofs, I am new in XDA site also dont know anything about the installation process. i searched a lot but too much confused. i just want to install a Jelly Bean ARHD custom rom for my HOX. now i am using ICS 4.0.3 and Sense 4.0. still didnt get any update. my bootloader also unlocked. i purchased it second hand so its may be used custom rom. i dont know which custom rom used on my HOX. my HOX CID number is VODAP001. please suggest me how to install ARHD 18.1 version custom rom. please give me full solution of this in easy way. thanks.
Boot the phone and check under settings menu if it says something about the custom rom.
But you need to install HTC drivers and you need the fastboot files. You have to open a command prompt inside the folder on the pc and type there 1 command, and the phone has to be in the bootloader menu. You should see in the bootloader in red text "fastboot usb"
Fastboot getvar version-main
A number should come out and we need that
Hi there,
I'm searching the correct stock recovery for my HTC One X. I'm running Android 4.1.1, Sense 4+, Software 3.20.401.01 an rooted my HOX a few month ago, but I never flashed a custom-rom, so I want to update my HOX to the newest OTA Update (4.18.401.2), but I can't install it, because of the flashed TWRP Recovery. I searched for the recovery, but I'm not sure which one is the correct one.
Alternative I would flash the newest OTA-Update by myself, when I get notifications about OTA updates in future by using this way.

Hi, yesterday I wanted to update to the new ota, but I got the red triangle, because I used titanium backup to disable some apps. So today I will activate these apps and try again.

Hello,
fewminutes ago I tried to update to the new OTA, after I installed and activated all apps via Titanium Backup which I had deactivated or deinstalled. But the Red Triangle is still there after about a minute of installing the update.
Is the only way now a RUU? Got a very old nand backup, when I rooted the HOX for the first time, but therefore I have to reflash TWRP, flash the nand backup, try the OTA update, long way, when I have to do a reset after installing the new OTA, equal which way I use ...
So I very pi**ed off... I thinking about to flash Venom Viper X or CyanogenMod so I got the Custom-Rom Tweaks and with Venom still OTAs ...

This is STORCK ROM 3.20.401.1
1. Download stock from the link
2. Install custom recovery
3. Install the STOK ROM
4. Flash via fastboot boot.img and recovery img from stock
5. Restart your phone and update
Thank you !!
But with this method I have to full wipe as well. So why not try the VenonViper X? Should be better with its tweaks, don't?!

If it is your nandroid on the curent system but clean no you don't need to flash boot.img! But be prepeared if something go wrong in any case.

In this case it is bether to flash the boot.img from nand backup. But you can try without flash and if the phone go in bootloop just flash the boot.img
Ok. Thank you!!

Edit2: Solved this problem as well, found another old nand from me... ops Now I'm at the newest Android Version quite nice
