Hi all
I am new to root and roms related part
So i want to know it from all of u ( u all experts) that is there any kind of problem (either related to brick or bad perfomance or damage or degradation to the internal ic) with rooting or using custom roms...???
If there any , plz point it out and help me
And is it possible to come back to my orignal stock with all the things as it is as it was before the root?
Thnx in advance , plz help

Yes you cam go back to stock, and no i have never experienced bad things with rooting and running customs roms. But you have to read the tutorials first to learn about what you need to know and need to do ! Don't go messing about with little to no knowledge !
Read up on fastboot and the commands how to flash recoverys and boot.img files.
These are the steps to follow
Unlock the bootloader at htcdev site
Flash a custom recovery
Make a NANDROID BACKUP of the stock rom
Flash the boot.img from the new rom
Perform a FULL wipe in the recovery
Install the new rom
And safe the stock rom nandroid backup somewhere safe (pc, cloud storage)
Thnx man...!!!
U helped me a lot with rooting , thnx again
One of my frnd said that he had solved a prob of bricked samsung phone with some kind of tiny device...dont know what...bt he was saying that he had done it
Is this possible for htc one x?
And finally one formal question..
Is there any prob if i get stuck and ask u for help?
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium
No its no problem ! And bricking the hox is almost impossible because we have S-ON devices .... Just check that the battery is full before you start
What is the meaning of S-ON device
I frequently came to know that u guys use S-ON & S-OFF device...what does that mean??
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium
S-off is a security parameter, if you have s-off you do not need to flash stuff with fastboot commands. Then you would be able to flash a complete rom including the kernel from the recovery. So no need for a pc !
But s-on is not so bad everyone thinks it is, because now bricking the phone is pretty much impossible
Wooooo...!!!
That means if i dont know exectly how to root ur htc one x then also there is no chance to brick ur device...am i right?
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium
Note that there is always a chance of getting it bricked ! But the chances are minimal to 0 if you follow the right path
Awsome bro...
Can u suggest the right way which u thinks the best for rooting and installing new rom and meanwhile keeping backup of stock rom for further use if needed to switch back to orignal one...??
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium
Well the main steps are in my first post of this thread ...
You need to learn about fastboot and the needed commands, here is more info
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1605720
And if you want to usr a all in one tool you can use this. But please read all info carefully and make sure you got it all prepared before you start. And charge the batt to full power to avoid issues.

Good
Thnx a lot...u helped me a lot...

Want to install ARHD ROM
Hello Mr. Hofs, I am new in XDA site also dont know anything about the installation process. i searched a lot but too much confused. i just want to install a Jelly Bean ARHD custom rom for my HOX. now i am using ICS 4.0.3 and Sense 4.0. still didnt get any update. my bootloader also unlocked. i purchased it second hand so its may be used custom rom. i dont know which custom rom used on my HOX. my HOX CID number is VODAP001. please suggest me how to install ARHD 18.1 version custom rom. please give me full solution of this in easy way. thanks.
Boot the phone and check under settings menu if it says something about the custom rom.
But you need to install HTC drivers and you need the fastboot files. You have to open a command prompt inside the folder on the pc and type there 1 command, and the phone has to be in the bootloader menu. You should see in the bootloader in red text "fastboot usb"
Fastboot getvar version-main
A number should come out and we need that

Not sure if it also works for the wildfire, but on newer HTC devices (Evo 3D, ...) with s -on, you need to flash the boot.img seperately with fastboot.

To go back to stock... You need to flash an RUU which you can get here http://shipped-roms.com/index.php?category=android&model=Buzz. Download whichever suits your region, whatever... You can flash easily using FASTBOOT. But bear in mind... Since you are S-ON, it will be hard if not impossible to flash a ROM lower than the one you had before rooting. I'd recommend this RUU RUU_Buzz_Froyo_HTC_WWE_2.22.405.1_Radio_13.55.55.24H_3.35.20.10_release_160191_signed (if you were on Eclair or have HBOOT 0.80) incase you need S-OFF. Good luck!
download ruu that suits your region, extract rom.zip from it, rename the rom,zip to PC49IMG.zip, put it on root of your sdcard, reboot the phonein hboot, wait for it to scan for pc49img, when it scans it follow the onscreen instructions on how to install it, and voila, youre back on stock rom.

I have received an upgrade from my network - Three UK - htc One X
I rooted my unlocked Evo 3D previously, but reading into One X root, I'm finding conflicting information and no straight forward solutions. I have had 2 software updates already - 4.0.4 now. Sense 4.1
Does it matter that I have these updates and that the phone came from the carrier?
Anyone know the best way to get it rooted, so that I can backup the stock Rom before choosing a custom?
Thanks
Altermatik83
UK
Please explain what you want ? Are on complete stock and want to update or are you on a custom rom and want to update ?
And is there still an update available or did you update it to the latest 4.0.4 sense 4.1 ?
I'm a little confused reading your text !
Update 4.0.4 comes with sense 4.1 this is one update not 2 separate updates !
Please give the proper info so i can help you with this
If you want to root you must unlock via HTC dev first . And second there are devs that has made it easy for you .there's apps in the dev section that will do it all for you here's one i found for you http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1604439 and once you install your recovery you would want to make a back up of your stock Rom

Hi
It is stock, just thought I'd mention that it updated to 4.0.4 recently. Wasn't sure if it would affect the rooting process.

Hi
Thanks for the reply. Do you have to go the HTCdev route with this? I don't mind doing it a harder way, just the best way. I'm guessing it doesnt matter that the phone is locked to a carrier.

You can still root it following the rooting instructions, there are even video guides for it. It is something everyone can successfully do
If you use that app that I recommended in the previous post HTC dev is built in the app

S-on is normal ! We don't have s-off yet that's why you have to flash the boot.img file with fastboot commands !!!

There is an app on the Play store called Boot manager which allows you to switch between Roms straight from the app. I have it on my Evo 3D and successfully installed 4 different Roms. I'm not sure if it work on our HOX but i thought i'd let you know anyway

No this will not work, you have to flash the boot.img manually with fastboot commands from the pc ! Because we (one x owners) do not have S-OFF . if we had s-off it would be possible. So the thought is good .....

first of all, read a lot of stuff
and One x has official update to jelly bean already - you should first check for jelly bean update in Settings -> About Phone -> Software -> Update
and flash and root are diffrent things
Root is like Administrator Rights in Windows
U get the permission to change systemm files & do advance stuff etc.
Flashing basically means to re-write the files in phone memory partitions - most commonly u will flash whole ROMs (complete operating system)
Go to this thread

and again read a lot - google a lot

In steps :
Unlock the bootloader
Flash a custom recovery
MAKE A NANDROID BACKUP FROM THE STOCK ROM (and copy it to a safe place)
Flash a boot.img that comes with the rom you want
Do a full wipe in recovery
Install the custom rom

Hey guys, i need help. I realy want to optimize my battery and my camera, thats all i need and im thinking to use a hq camera mod and a custom stable rom
But can you give me some links how to unlock my bootloader and root my phone. I tried the all in one toolkit from htcdev. but didnt work.
Is there another method? And which one is less risky cuz i dont wanna brick my phone. Or should i wait a lil bit more while the developers make some better progress for making rooting methods less risky and painful
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
There is no other way then with the HTCdev site....learn fastboot commands directly instead of a toolkit. Once you know it, its easy !
And what rom are you looking for ...a sense based rom ?
Did you get the unlock code.bin file from HTC ?
I stucked at the first steps when i installed drivers successfully and ran the "boot in to a bootloader" it said the device was not found,
I had a htc wildfire before and i managed to root it and flash some roms without problems,
Can you send me a link with some manually rooting guide please.
And yea some sense based rom like ARHD or the Renovate, (i guess they are sense based lol) any Stable room with good battery life option
