okay im currently running Leedroid rom on my ONE X wich is nice, but after flashing my screen start getting the flickering so want to go back to stock, because it never had problems..
what i tried to do, but didn't work was:
Booting into recovery and recover my Nandroid
recover my nandroid finished perfekt without any errors.
but when rebooting it stops at the HTC screen and enter bootloop (can't shut it down)
I went back into recovery and flashed LeeDroid rom again and flashed boot.img and now my ONE X is working but still with Leedroid..
What am i doing wrong ??
do i need to flash some stock Boot.img ?
i thought, when recovering nandroid everything goes back as it was then...
i never had problems like this before with my previous android phones
PLEASE HELP ME GET BACK TO STOCK
as far as i know you can't flash any boot.img from recovery while we have s-on. So i would assume that extends to flashing a boot.img from a system backup? My suggestion would be to find the backup on your device, open it, copy the boot.img to your computer and after restoring your backup, do a fastboot flash of the boot.img you just copied.
But you could also give Android Revolution HD a try, its like stock but better, and i don't have any issues using it

Hi All,
I did the silly thing of flashing my phone with another boot.img and obviously forgot to extract the ROM to my phone but didn't realise this until after.
My problem is, the phone will get to the main menu with the sense ring and freeze and reboot.
I have tried looking everywhere for a fix but can't seem to find one Hope you all can help.
Kind regards
James

Thanks for your reply, I have flashed the boot image again (I didn't get to the stage of installing the new ROM so it's still at stock ROM but the boot.img is the part that is buggered, when you say flash the modules.
I have been trying to find the stock Boot.img but no luck nothing seems to be working, my son isn't going to be happy!
Get ARHD , your son will be happier XD
Hi guys, maybe this has been asked before but however here goes, I have a ONE X rooted with CWM v5.0.8.0, I have taken a backup of my rom before I installed a custom rom (Venom ViperX) to which I had to use fastboot to flash the boot.img, if I want to restore to my original rom which I backed up before do I or must I use fastboot to flash that boot.img from the backup?
Any advice welcome and thanks in advance and apologies if this has been asked before

You must use fastboot to flash the boot.img that came with the original rom. Also don't forget clear cache.Or else you might get stuck in a boot loop. Also to make our lives easier to adjust to installing custom roms devs have come up with tools like..."Fastboot Flasher" which does all the typing and actions for you and its something that wont mess things up provided you haven't given the wrong input.
Hope that helps!
Cheers for all the input guys, that makes things a little easier to cope with and it also explains why my HOX wouldn't boot properly after restoring a backup.
All good now though

Yeah, I haven't even heard of a version before 5.2.7.0 (I think, but that doesn't look right) that even works with One X, and 5.8.4.0 must have been out 6 months.
Well hello guys, first let me explain what happend.
Last sunday i rooted my HTC Desire HD and everything went well. First I installed the latest miui rom with desire hd support from miuiandroid.com . But then i heard more about jelly bean roms and today installed codefireX's R19 version of his rom. But when i found out that it did not work with whatsapp I decided to change back to miui. Since i had made a nandroid backup of MIUI I thought i could use that. And this is where the problems started appearing. I hit the restore button in my recovery and the restore was succesfull, but when it rebooted nothing happened. I got the HTC logo, but after that I got only a backlit black screen. Wich then went completely black with a little noise comming from my phone After a few seconds it rebooted again and went straight into recovery. I have tried all my nandroid backups, but none worked. I even tried flashing MIUI from scratch, but that only send me into a bootloop in wich i could see the MI logo and then nothing.
So whatever i do, it just wont boot. I can get into recovery and the bootloader, but nothing more. Please help me guys, i searched all over the internet but have not found anything like my problem. Have I broken my phone??:crying:
Hey guys, well after a lot of trying and patience if finaly got my Phone to work again:laugh:. I flashed android revolution and that booted right up. But i still wonder why Clockwork restore didn't work
did you unlock bootloader with the official htc tool? if you did, recovery cant restore your kernel, similar to when you flash a rom. in this case, you should be fine flashing kernel like you do when flashing a rom
if that is not the case, it is probably just a corrupted backup. it does happen sometimes
Hey there, which revolution HD did u use coz I flashed version 7.3 and it just stuck in a boot loop.... I wonder why.???

Is your bootloader unlocked? If so, have you fastboot flashed the boot.img?
Hey th0mas_, well I did use the htcdev way of unlocking my bootloader. So i guess that that is probably the whole problem. But just a noob question, how do i flash a kernel?? Tnx ahead guys, still a bit to anxious to flash a new rom though hahaha.
And to you gray, i just needed to have a lot of patience, after a few minutes of quietly brilliant. It just booted into the setup. But you do have to flash the boot.img first before it will boot.

You've done a full wipe؟؟؟؟
1 - full wipe ( with delvik + cache ) in recovery
2 - install your rom ( if your rom have problem try another rom)
3 - extract boot.img from your rom zip file and copy to fastboot folder
4 - and go to fastboot and type this command :
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot reboot
if again show error try with another rom
i hope solved
I have a few questions since I'm fairly new to the forum...
1) What's the difference between the HTC One X development forum and the One X original development forum? Is it to do with concurrent development updates and stability with the latter being approved as 'Stable' in the sense of the word? Or am I mixed up...?
2) My CID is HTC_001, I have S-ON and HWBOOT 1.39.0000 with the phone rooted. Am I prepped and ready for installing a custom ROM?
3)Regarding the recovery, I presume you use the backup & recovery in the BOOTLOADER to create a recovery file before installing the custom ROM?
I appreciate the help chaps,
:good:

I believe that the original forum is more for the pure android versions without FOR instance touchwiz. (Not sure if I'm right) if a Rom is stable it will usually be mentioned in the corresponding thread and it will also say what works and what is broken in the Rom.
you seem ready for a custom rom because I have hboot 1.39 as well. As long as it is unlocked and have a custom recovery you can flash away. As for your third question, no, you use the backup and restore option in your custom recovery for instance clockworkmod or twrp. Some advice: always flash the corresponding boot.img from your rom.

So by "Pure Android", do you essentially mean ROMS that are more true to form with less customization layered over the top? If so, which one would you recommend and does it matter which one you use from either one of the forums as-long as you meet the pre-requisites?
Now, what do you mean by custom recovery, how do I know if I have it or how do I do it? Sorry, but I'm a bit of a pleb so simpleton english please :cyclops:
Also if you are fairly new I suggest you flash the viper rom, it has htc sense and all the tweaks a man needs.
Copy zip to phone
Make sure you have the right boot.img to flash in the fastboot folder its in the zip
Full wipe if coming from other Rom
Flash rom
Flash boot.img by using: fastboot flash boot boot.img
Fastboot erase cache
And it should boot up nicely, this if you already unlocked the bootloader and have a custom recovery

Ohhhhh, I get it now... So as-well as unlocking the phone to ROOT, you also have to overwrite the stock recovery on the phone with this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1594819 Okokok, so that's the 'Custom' recovery. Roger
Yes. You seem to get the hang of it. Before flashing a recovery let me try to get ahold of Mr. Hofs, he has a recovery file that supports touch which you need for some Rom installations. Ill get back at you.
Btw if you are already on a custom recovery by now, immediatly make a nandroid backup and also copy it to your pc. If anything happens and you do not have a nandroid backup things could get way harder than they should

That one I linked is touch isn't it? Atleast, the title says "9/6 Mandatory Update Official Clockworkmod Touch Recovery 5.8.4.0" which would lead me to believe so....
Yes but I believe people have reported that touch didn't work. The one with touch you can flash over cwm later and you'll lose no data at all. I'm on my htc atm so its hard to find links for you. The recovery I'm using is philz touch recovery which is also cwm based
I contacted Mr hofs for you for the link if you can't come across it on the forums good luck its bed time for me now

Edit: I remember now, htc brought out some kind of update which made touch unusable in cwm. I highly recommend philz touch recovery

If your phone can only reboot into recovery the only thing that is left to do is install a custom rom. You can also go back to stock if you manage to get the correct RUU OR if you find your stock boot.img which you just replaced. What I would do is flash a sense based rom, flash the boot image, fastboot erase cache and let it boot up, if it boots make a nandroid backup immediatly. as I am no expert choosing the right RUU I cannot help you get back to stock.. I haven't quiet gotten to the RUU part myself.
To flash a recovery : fastboot flash recovery recoveryname.img
Flash a kernel/boot.img: fastboot flash boot bootname.img
Fastboot erase cache
Ofc change recoveryname to the name ur recovery has or change the name to recovery.img makes it easier

yup so these are the steps I followed.
1) flashed the boot.img that I had in the nandroid backup
2) restored the backup
3) booted up completely
4) since touch screen doesn't work
5) restarted the phone went into recovery and installed the OTA
6) booted again and it got stuck
7) erased cache from fastboot -> no-go
Also I just checked couldnt find any boot.img in the OTA zip, dont know what im missing here

thanx for letting me knw that it is not kernel related(sigh of relief)
but still, can you suggest some roms so that i'll try flashing their boot.img's!
You can try any rom if your hboot is supported. Receiving signal is something different from the signal strength.
The modules in the rom + the delivered boot.img are related to each other to make signal and bluetooth ...etc etc work.
So flash the boot.img from the rom, make a full wipe in recovery, install the rom. That way it should be all good on any rom.
