Apparently I'm incapable of keeping these for more than a week without having the metal end bend and I don't trust that in my phone. I'm looking for longer one (have 9ft now) but cheap enough that I can buy bulk

Ditto. My only beef with them is shipping to me in Canada, it take s forever for it to get to me. And I can't justify spending more money on shipping (via FedEx or UPS) than their products are priced.
But their quality of products are great I would highly recommend them to anybody that needs cables.

So I'm looking at the micro usb cables on amazon.. which micro is the evo? type a/b/c/d/. etc.. hopefully type b.. only 4 dollars shipped. Why do they charge $20 or more locally?
There is only one type of micro cable, micro not mini and standard USB on the other end.

Because people are willing to pay $20. It costs $1 or less to make.. nice markup, eh? I bought two OEM Samsung made cables for $5/each shipped on eBay.. couldn't be happier.
BTW: Stay away from aftermarket cheapo cables.. they go bad. I've gone through 2-3 Mini USB cables when I had my Hero.
I ordered 5 6ft cables from Monoprice on Tuesday and got them today. $1.22each
Does anyone know where I can buy a mini USB to Micro USB adapter for my car charger? I don't want to have to buy another car charger.
i bought a few of these:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002N8JJ04/ref=oss_product
they're pretty great
i chose them over a smaller rigid converter, because these are less likely to break your usb connectors
Check Monoprice.com
I went looking for low-cost adapters while waiting for my phone to ship, and there just didn't seem to be any that were cost-effective.
I wound up buying a brand new car charger for $6 on amazon and a handful of new USB to micro USB cables for less than $2 each on monoprice.
I can't see the economy in spending $5 to make my $4 mini-usb charger compatible with my phone, when a new charger is just $5 anyway. I really hope that monoprice starts selling some ridiculously cheap adapters in the near future.
Thank you very much!
Exactly what I was looking for. Now I need to come up with $25 worth of stuff to get the free shipping.
you can also get them at radio shack or bestbuy.. except at best by you have to buy it with a short cable as well cause that the only way they sell it, at radio shack you can by it by itself
I called Radio Shack, $12.95, ouch and no thank you. I can buy a whole charger for that price at WalMart.
Petronic's point is well taken. Gonna follow the same route too.
Thank you for all of the replies!

These deal seem to be to good to be true. Anyone order from them before?
dealextreme.com is real popular in the GPS hacking world. I have never had any issues. Google them and I think you will find they are well used and received.

Dealextreme got some great price. But shipping take about a few week because of international shipping from china. And customer service is bad. I purchase many thing there. For the price you will pay for a item there is a you how you say, "you get what you pay". Ebay us buyer is the best choice for faster shipping and little pricer item for HTC Evo.

I got a few and they are great. Saved me from tossing out my old cables.
i assume that converting the mini usb to micro usb adapters will work with all the tilt 2 chargers i have. i have a car charger and 3 wall chargers and it would be nice if all i need to to buy a handful of these adapters instead of buying all new chargers...never can enough chargers i say.

I picked a couple adapters. I wanted to use one on a charger and one on a data cable. But when I plug them in, the phone thinks it has been docked and I can't use it as a data cable. Will the one linked above work on a data cable?
http://www.meritline.com/mini-usb-micro-adapter---p-47016.aspx $2.09 shipped.
dealextreme.com is legit. I ordered from there two times.
If you want to have some real fun order there cell phone signal blocker. It works awesome! There is nothing more fun that being in a car with someone talking on their cell phone and a second later they are having their call dropped. F'n hillarious!
So I was ordering some cables from my favorite only source today and I thought I check if they are carrying any micro HDMI cables yet.
Sure enough they are in 1.5, 3, 6, 10 and 15ft lengths
The 15ft is for under 8 bucks and they are all gold plated if it matters.
http://www.monoprice.com/products/subdepartment.asp?c_id=102&cp_id=10253
Just added a 15ft to my cart
i thought the longer the cable, the worst the quality. i may be wrong...

With analog cables, yes that is true to some extend. But for HDMI cables which are digital, no, it will either fully work, or it wont. There is NO difference between a $6 cable from monoprice and a $300 "Monster" cable from Best Buy. Anything under 25 feet will be exactly the same.

You will loose quality after 25 feet. So your 100% right.

Then you will have to buy a 50$ repeater!
If you're picking up a HDMI cable from Monoprice, you might also grab a couple of micro-USB cables if you need them for your Evo.
I just received notification from monoprice that the 6ft cable is back in stock.

I ordered one of each. 3ft and 6ft. They both work the same. Same quality and display. On either cable you can't really touch the Evo or you lose signal. I believe every hdmi cable has this problem on the Evo.

Does anyone know where I can get properly working 6ft micro usb cables that actually charge the phone?
I bought one off ebay and it was completly junk, my phone would drain faster than it would charge.
Something under $10 would be ideal.
Thanks

Amazon, purchase the mediabridge brand. About 6 bucks if I remember right.

Might also consider MonoPrice.com for your cables. They are cheap and supposed to be as reliable as any big brand.
Personally, I get the Amazon Basic cables, but so far I've only needed a maximum 3' cable.

Kindle charger
I use a 6ft white kindle charger and it works as well as OEM. If I recall correctly, it was only ~$10, I purchased it on Ebay.
@Amazon bought Samsung branded ones for $2.50 a pop. I've been buying and using these for years and have not had an issue yet.

I'd recommend Mediabridge. Here and here.

I bought a 3m, 9ft usb cable off ebay and works fine.
AmazonBasics USB Cable 2.0 A-Male to B-Micro 6 Feet / 1.8 m
Been using it for a month now. Charges the phone perfectly
I have bought many cables from digitalkynectonline on Ebay. The cables have held up very good. I have bought 6ft and 10ft cables and they are reasonably priced. The ends are molded unlike some of the cheap cables you get on ebay. The cord is heavier than than alot to and seems to take alot of abuse.
Try out PortaPow
I got this for my road trip and found it extremely effective in providing AC power when a normal cable (the one that came with my HTC) did USB charging.
This allowed me to charge while streaming music and navigation and kept the phone fully charged my whole road trip. It works in any computer or USB port to allow AC charging for your phone

I bought a few of those and they started having bad connections after a few weeks. The premium ones have a much better connector and seem more durable

Another vote for Mediabridge. Very inexpensive, very well constructed, and they stand by their products. Had one go bad and they replaced it very quickly. Great people to deal with.
I figured I would share this here. Monoprice.com has a $10 off $30 coupon when you enter TAXACT10. I believe it's for new accounts only, but give it a shot anyway if you're a regular.

I've heard good things here at xda and elsewhere about the Premium cables as they allow your device to fully draw as much as it can with higher amp output chargers/adapters. I have a couple of good micro USB cables that work really well for both charge/data, and some crappy ones where despite having good 2A adapters, only pull 500mA on a good day... This way I can make sure my Nexus 5 and my Qi chargers are utilizing the most they can.
I'm not a skilled modder, so I don't want to short any cables, but this makes things nice and cheap!
10 Cables and the car charger came to $27.75 shipped to Polar Bear land with small package Canada post shipping.
