Working 6FT micro usb charging cables - One (M7) Accessories

Does anyone know where I can get properly working 6ft micro usb cables that actually charge the phone?
I bought one off ebay and it was completly junk, my phone would drain faster than it would charge.
Something under $10 would be ideal.
Thanks

Amazon, purchase the mediabridge brand. About 6 bucks if I remember right.

Might also consider MonoPrice.com for your cables. They are cheap and supposed to be as reliable as any big brand.
Personally, I get the Amazon Basic cables, but so far I've only needed a maximum 3' cable.

Kindle charger
I use a 6ft white kindle charger and it works as well as OEM. If I recall correctly, it was only ~$10, I purchased it on Ebay.

@Amazon bought Samsung branded ones for $2.50 a pop. I've been buying and using these for years and have not had an issue yet.

I'd recommend Mediabridge. Here and here.

I bought a 3m, 9ft usb cable off ebay and works fine.

AmazonBasics USB Cable 2.0 A-Male to B-Micro 6 Feet / 1.8 m
Been using it for a month now. Charges the phone perfectly

I have bought many cables from digitalkynectonline on Ebay. The cables have held up very good. I have bought 6ft and 10ft cables and they are reasonably priced. The ends are molded unlike some of the cheap cables you get on ebay. The cord is heavier than than alot to and seems to take alot of abuse.

Try out PortaPow
I got this for my road trip and found it extremely effective in providing AC power when a normal cable (the one that came with my HTC) did USB charging.
This allowed me to charge while streaming music and navigation and kept the phone fully charged my whole road trip. It works in any computer or USB port to allow AC charging for your phone

I bought a few of those and they started having bad connections after a few weeks. The premium ones have a much better connector and seem more durable

Another vote for Mediabridge. Very inexpensive, very well constructed, and they stand by their products. Had one go bad and they replaced it very quickly. Great people to deal with.

Got one like this. Dirt cheap and it works great as this is my 'to go' cable that's in my car. I modded some USB ports into my car so I have retractable charge cables for ipod, micro, and mini usb as well as a aux input (also retractable) and I got them all on ebay for about $5 shipped.

Which ones did you buy from Monoprice?
I just need a couple more data cables to keep in my bag and an extra at work. I have a motorola rokr bt headset where the wall charger works with the captivate for home usage.

I bought both the Gunyman-suggested ebay cables and the monoprice cables. The ebay cables are the same as stock, only shorter. The monprice cables have a large plastic housing at the micro usb end and it won't fit into the recessed access port on our phones. Consequently i found the connection not very solid; almost like it is when you don't open the door all the way with the stock cable. I solved the problem by grinding down the plastic. Works, but I prefer the proper connectors on the ebay cable.

I also bought something similar to this (supposed samsung oem on ebay), it's about 3ft long, so perfect for when I'm using my laptop. Works great, charges and transfers without a hitch.
I also bought some 3ft and 6ft cables from monoprice.com and yes, they work... but the plastic around the plug is thick so they plug in at an angle because unless you do some minor surgery.

Longer MicroUSB charging cable

The microUSB cable is too short, and need a longer one. Will any of the long ones that pop up on ebay work fine or does it need to be a specific type of cable or something.

That's the whole point, to make the cable that came with the charger longer. That way one can lay in bed, charge, and use the phone at the same time.

Yeah, I just wish (KICKSTARTER!) that someone made a microusb cable that didn't protrude so much from the end of the phone, making it a pain to hold comfortably in landscape mode. Even the right-angle microusb cables I have aren't good enough.
Somebody should really make one that sits flush against the phone, with some extra silicone padding along the base, so you can't even really tell that it's plugged in. It'd be a little pricier, being niche, but I'd buy it... and if marketed right, lots of others would too.

Good question, I don't know. Maybe someone else can chime in.
I can't decide between 6, 10 and 15 ft.
I was going to get the 15 ft until someone else mentioned the longer cables affect charging performance. I don't know if there is any truth to that.

Totally off-topic but for everybody that buys cables from Monoprice, do you guys have free shipping code or something?
I know their products and prices are good. But it seems like unless I'm buying a lot of cables, the shipping doesn't justify the cost.
Charging isn't an issue over 6 feet, but if you're using it for data, don't go over 6 feet...
This is what I use. No issues.

Micro USB replacement cable

I was wondering if anyone knows of any good replacement micro USB cables. Mine has started to act funky and only charges correctly at a certain angle.
I know there are several cheap cables out there on Amazon and eBay but I was looking for something reliable such that if I flash through Odin or some type of future Bootloaders I do not wanna risk bricking my phone because of a bad cable.
Can anyone suggest or link me to official and not knockoff Samsung cables or some other alternative that works well. If not can on suggest a reliable Brand that I can search for.
Thanks.
Belkin make very good cables indeed. I have several; give them a shot. They're not overpriced, either.
I would stay away from the cheap ebay ones (as you said) - they don't seem to work correctly, never seem to charge/connect to my S3 properly.

My favorite one is Logitech cable: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Original-Lo...556?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item336a98f674 . I have few because they come with the devices. Otherwise, you can't go wrong with HTC OEM cable. Only $1 on ebay and it works great.

This is the type of cables that I use. I bought 8 of them last year, and I have put them in my car, my wifes car, my daughters car (with cheap USB chargers of course). I put chargers on a couple of my motorcycles using them. I have a pair of bluetooth intercoms for my helmets that need micro-USB chargers for them both. I had to buy another bag of 8. I've given a couple of them away. So I have about a dozen charge connections, and only about $25.
There is no reason to pay more the $2 each for these cables. The USB works on them. They charge over USB. They charge at the high charge rate. They work correctly and they are reliable. And if one of them DOES ever fail, I won't feel bad.

Stay away from the 89c cables from Hong Kong, they are horrible quality and don't conform to USB wiring standards. I had a bad experience the other day when I tried to plug the emergency cable I keep in my bag into my S3, wouldn't go in, I thought I'd somehow bent the charging port on my S3 but really it was just the ****ty cable.
Both ports connect perfectly to cell phone and computer. - The length of the cable is the right size (90 cm), not too long and not too short. - I have been using it for some weeks and it works fine for both transferring data and recharging my phone.http://dx.com/p/usb-charging-data-cable-for-samsung-galaxy-ace-s5830-90cm-length-59092
Although monoprice are quality the cable's micro usb side(metal part) isn't as long as the Samsung cable and they don't tend to stay in as well. But it's not that bad but noticeable. I love monoprice besides shipping costs

Pretty much any micro usb cable from a reputable manufacturer will work (its the chargers where you get the differences). I've used my S3 cable, an old Motorola cable, and a monoprice (generic) cable for charging it and other devices with no problems.
Some generic cable don't work very well. I've had charging problems. You can get the Motorola cable pretty cheap on amazon.
Mine stopped working after about 3 weeks. The cable was never bent or even removed from the wall adapter either! It's very possible that you didn't bend the cable in your sleep, and instead the cable just stopped working like mine did. Since then, I've just been using one of my many HTC cables plugged in to the Asus wall adapter that came with my N7 FHD. It works perfectly!

This is true! I think the post you quoted would have been better stated by saying that any cable FROM A REPUTABLE MANUFACTURER should work just fine. Not just ANY cable because, unfortunately, there are many 3rd party cables that are just junk. If you have a cable from your current or previous phone, and it's a phone manufactured by a reputable company, then it should work without a problem.

Fixed my post I've never bought a no name cable but I can imagine if they're cheaply/poorly built they'll have terrible impedance and charge too slow.
Also note that really long cables will charge slower (unless they use lower guage wire)
For Monoprice, avoid the 24AWG ferrite bead ones (the ones that go for about $1 for a 3-foot one). While they seem like quality cables at first, I've had 4 and 3 of them have gotten flaky over time (the D+/D- ones broke on one of them so it doesn't talk to a computer anymore, and the other two often lose connection when moved around).
I have a bunch of different standard cables from eBay (different lengths), even the colorful ones. All work without problems. It's a digital cable ( 2 data and 2 power lines). if it's not broken or shorted any cable should work. Of course if you approach the maximum length (5m -15 ft) of usb and the cable is not up to the specs it may start failing but for 1-3 m should not have problems with any cable. If we speak about the power adapter (not cable) it's another story. There are many variants and not all provide the specified power, but if the specs are correct the 2A and 3A ones should work. Car adapters , an even more different story. I'm not using my Nexus 7-2 in car (have a build in Android navi now), but I used the first gen Nexus 7, and I tried 3 different adapters until I found one which provided enough power to charge the tablet with GPS and navi on (most will let the tablet slowly discharge). I think this model require less power so maybe even some which did not work will work now.

I haven't actually been able to test the time it takes to fully charge since I usually charge it overnight but I'll try to run some tests and time how long it takes with the different cables and I'll post my findings. From what I've seen so far from using it, I haven't noticed any difference with charge time between the stock cable and the monoprice one With my experience using it to charge my droid razr (xt912) definitely no difference with charge time compared to the stock motorola usb cable. I'm sure with the n7 it's totally fine.

USB cable

Hi there, simple question... Why all 2m cables I got from eBay failure to efficiently charge my phone? Used with 3 different original HTC chargers but I always get a message stating that not enough power goes to the phone when being used whilst charging. What cable should I buy? I need 2 meters or similar long... Or maybe it is the length of cable that doesn't let enough juice going to the device...? please advice, thanks in advance
Sent from my HTC One using XDA Free mobile app
It's because of the length. The longer your cable is, the higher is the resistance (R=p*l/A). I had a similar problem with two cables. One was thin as hell and the other one was thicker. The thicker one charged perfect so if you buy a long cable make sure that it is thick enough to reduce the resistance.

In my oppinion, length is not the main problem.
Don't buy cables from ebay. Diameter of wires inside the cable affects charging process much more.
Those cheapo ebay cables work enough, so you won't RMA them, but actually those are often only data cables, not intended for charging at all.
Next time, if you break some cables, check original one and that, which you bought - cut them and notice difference in their thickness (wires, not the whole cable).
Once I have bought "ORIGINAL OEM htc charger" from ebay. It was counterfeit, it was charging very slow, so i measured cahrger and it was nothing, but garbage 5V / 1A charger was only able to supply about 0,7 AMPS, but voltage decreased to about 3 V. Ok, so I tossed it away, and I said "ok then, at least I have a cable". wrong. it was same garbage.
From that day, I only buy official accessories. The phone was expensive enough, not to buy cheap accessories.
So my advice: try to avoid those cheap cables. Try to buy cable of any length you need, but some more expensive one.
A phone charges more slowly if it thinks the USB cable is offering a data connection.
Google for "usb short data pins", or just go straight to https://plus.google.com/+AmiFischman/posts/2JzDyodpJsq

I picked up three Samsung USB cables that were being offered for $2 and they work extremely well. Decent length and fast charging.

Try to buy cable of any length you need, but some more expensive one.

detail information. The inner cable should be 20 AWG or bigger.
Monoprice sells these cables. You can choose what AWG. Theyre inexpensive and quality control on them are pretty amazing.
