andude this is the same rom that we have in the devs section, its just the Tablet UI Mod that is available in the Themes and Apps forum made by Xylograph that is available for CM9 and AOPK Builds, also MIJJZ "slim n trim" build is based on that same rom, the launcher is the only thing that changes compared to the Galaxy nexus, give it a shot http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1619300
all credit goes to MIJJZ ofcourse

This rom isn't just a tablet mod. Read the description.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium

Looks very cool I just don't know if I would want to have everything jammed into the screen like a tablet all of the time

It is the same thing as the tablet mode that we have in the themes and apps section. The OP for the rom is saying that its not just a build.prop edit because with the gnex you can change the DPI and something else in the build.prop, and it will default to tablet mode. In our case, I think the services.jar file is edited, to create the real tablet mode. I tell you what, get the OP's wallpapers, flash cm9 and the tablet mode, apply the wallpapers and tell me what you think......

First off i would like to say thank you to all the developers who have worked so hard on producing this absolutly outstanding rom for us.
I just had a couple of quick questions on this. I just downloaded fb21 version released by calkulin and was wondering if this is somthing that will be later themed or because it is not completly finished it the ics colors will come with it later?

Samsung will not use the holo theme on ice cream sandwich. What you see in these leaks, give or take a few minor things, is what you get.
You have to understand that Samsung has more then just some customers on xda that use their device to support. They are not going to overhaul a UI just because some enthusiasts think ics looks cool. (Unfortunate in our case, but clearly makes sense from a business perspective.)
That is why Google offers geds. To get the full Google experience when it becomes available. This is the nature of open source.

I just loaded Mijjah77 ICS Fb21 "The Goodness" and I can't get over how much I love it! I would suggest trying it out. You could possibly wait until the version 1.1 then hopefully the gps bug will be fixed. Other then that, everything seems to running great, once you get the mms/txt bug fixed up (you can do it yourself), but this is ICS and it is awesome!

[ROM]AOSP-Vanilla Beta 1 updated 7/8/12

AOSP-Vanilla
This is something I've been working on for a very long time. It's a mix of the Android Open Source Project and CM9.
This would not be possible without the work of TeamChopsticks.

This ROM is 100% built from source. No longer using the Linaro tool chain as this was a major reason for the delay of updates. Then optimized for maximum speed (mx0 compression of framework and all PNG's optimized. The original sources were downloaded from Git and the contributors are listed above. When I say contributors I mean if your Github had an .xml that helped me figure it out you're a contributor. I'm only human please tell me if I left somebody out. I will be uploading the sources necessary to build this ROM to my Github. If it wasn't for the "open" source of others I would have never figured out how to do this. Updates will be released from my Twitter that way I can sneak 'em out when I'm working, hey I got three kids in pre-school I'll do all I can when I can.
Instructions:
Flash Darkside Super Wipe
Flash AOSP-Vanilla
Flash 20120429-gapps
Flash Darkside Cache Wipe & Fix Permissions
Reboot system
Smile
Updates will be released as I eliminate more of the CM stuff from the AOSP. It's running Eugene's CM kernel right now so I don't know how far we can go without a good kernel tutorial to be 100% AOSP. Eugene if you want this removed just say so. And remember I'd like to keep some of the cool features of CM9 but not all so please don't request that I put all the things I took out back.

I really need testers to let me know. I haven't found anything broken. But I'm sure you've read the "readme" in with a Linux kernel- please test on 4 to 5 or more people. It should be good I been running it about an hour now. I had a previous version on all day though.

AOSP is the Android Open Source Project. It's the base for all Android OS. The only constant from one manufacturer to another. Samsung's bastardization is known as Touchwiz, HTC's is Sense and the Nexus line has become the only vehicle for Google to get the real Android into the public. Now this love of what Android is meant to be is what has inspired the great developers of the world to bring about Cyanogen mod, AOKP and the Nexus line from Google. Those of us who have been in on this since the G1 and Magic seem to be a little more fond of "Vanilla" flavored Android and I do ask if you can't tell the difference then this one ain't for you. Please I've put long hours into this already and many more hours still too come, this is my project and I will not apologize for being one of the few AOSP fans who owns this phone.

I so agree with you bro.... the devs are just doing all of this for free. Which ever any of us use is just icing on their cake. To them it just means that their knowledge has paid off.
Too many choices out there to make one single decision. Carry 1-2-3-8 roms in ur card. Choose a diff one everyday of the week. And one day it will make its mark that the one your using will meet all your needs. Until then........ PLEASE!!!!! Read instructions and follow devs install guides. Their there for a reason. Don't be one of the many that post treads about how they didn't research and ended up with a paperweight.
Thats my .02¢
Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda app-developers app
I don't mean to sound politically incorrect here. But I don't think devs do this for us at all. If I had the talents to dev my main reason for developing would be my own personal gains in being able to improve the experience with that shiny new device I've been wanting. Then after I would upload my work for anyone else if they wish. Hopefully cash in some sweet donations if my work is THAT good. But I will never ever believe that devs do it "for us". All devs are hackers. And hackers all hack for the same reasons. Personal gain and attention. Just my 2 cents.

It is great because of the hybrid mod being able to adjust individual DPI for apps. I've been on both CM9 tablet and PA Hybrid. Once you are able to set the DPI when necessary you realize all tablet mods should be able to do the this so why settle for less. CM9 only allows for most of settings to be 128 for tablet and for some this is way to small. I would suggest giving PA a chance I have gotten so used to being able to see things in tablet mod that I hate reading email or apps without the reading pane that tablet provides.

Yeah, the porter - KBizzle - has moved on to the S3 I don't think there are any problems with it though. I say you give it a try. Even though CM9 is still in "alpha", it is very stable... more so than other AOSP ROMs. Team Epic CM are almost finished with making it an Official CM Device too. I'm not sure though if ParanoidAndroid is a complete port, or if it is based off our own CM9, or if it is built from source entirely.
So would anyone mind pointing me in the direction for how to install Paranoid Android? Would I install cm9 first or just Paranoid Android or what? Maybe give me a link or something? I would love to try it out if it is as stable as you say it is
Edit: I've done a bit of looking, though not very thorough, and I could not find the ROM for the Epic 4G Touch. ???

Again, thank you. Everyone has been very helpful. I've gathered all the information necessary, except for this one last question. What do you all prefer between these 2 ROMs, assuming you have used them both. The Blu Kuban ICS ROM, or Paranoid Android hybrid ROM. I can install either at any time, but I would like to know a few personal preferences and reasons for said personal preferences before I choose between one or the other.

Totally night and day, both roms are great and i do go back and forth between the two. I have really adjusted to tablet mod for app's so tablet is my daily driver. I am caught between wanting to be on the newest rom's but can not think of going back to regular app's layout.
PA doesn't have support although I am hopeful someone will pick it up. Being able to set DPI setting makes PA stand out from the rest but I think tonight I'm going to flash the new CM10 and see if it will work with tablet settings even if it is not hybrid and I can't adjust individuation DPI settings for apps.
Update:
Flashed to CM10 JB but couldn't get it to flash tablet mod and since it is in beta had too many FC's. Reflashed PA 1.6 hybrid tablet mod and now back to the way I like it!

Rom creating and what not

Hi, i've been reading up on some post and videos around here, gathering info on how to create my own custom rom. Im 17, i know some of you might not take me seriously, but i need help. What do some of you Devs use to create the roms? any tips or suggestions?
Anything is appreciated.

Do you just want a modified/themed stock ROM or do you want to learn how to build from source?

well right now im wanting to do a modified/themed stock rom, but i do want to learn how to build from source.
Idk what I can say about making themed stock ROMs other than check out dsixda kitchen and uot kitchen. In my opinion I don't like themed stock ROMs. They are all pretty much the same with a different theme and the devs keep releasing full ROMs calling them something new but in reality it's just a new theme.
On the other hand for building a ROM from source, do some research on source.android.com and wiki.cyanogenmod.com
You can also join everyone on irc.freenode.net channels #ics-dev-e4gt and #jb-dev-e4gt and just see what the devs are working on, most are willing to help out and give advice, even for noobs like me.

I know we're derailing this topic, but in my opinion we don't need all these themed ROMs. Just wrap it all up in 1 zip, flash it over the stock ROM it was built for, and voila... you have a themed/modified stock ROM.
Back to the topic, if you want to learn about ROM development you can learn a lot from what I posted earlier and just browsing XDA.
