Screen Brightness - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-T989

Was wondering if anybody has this issue with their phone. I have my brightness setting on 0 and no automatic brightness. When my phone goes to sleep it is at 0 but when I use it again the brightness is back on. I go back to my settings and the notch is all the way to 0. But I move it around and when I adjust it again back down, the actual lighting drops to 0 like its supposed to. This always happens when other awakes. Is that normal? Does it matter what setting it is on if its even a sleep? Also how can I correct this? Its annoying to always bring it back down. Thanks!!

What ROM are you using? Kernel?

Are you going to settings> display> brightness??? Cuz that's the only way i found it sticks to the brightness you set. I was using quick settings to adjust brightness but after looking and unlocking the phone it would always go to around 40% brightness. Tried a bunch of other apps and same thing would happen

I'm using Jugs 5 and switched back to faux 10u after being on backside for a few days.
Elflip that is what I have to do. When I used an app it would adjust ~40% and I would have to move it back. I wish there was an option with these apps to override that because its annoying. Its also annoying to manually adjust brightness at the top of the screen or even in settings.

Are you rooted? From what I've seen in that program you need to be rooted for that feature to work.

Flash an ICS ROM. That will turn them off by default due to a bug

Turn off notifications in ur superuser app, but with the app running nonstop in ur background I doubt u will be saving much battery. Mikg3.11 has the ability to turn them off in the built in tweaks app. Just fyi

I had also found this. Also read you could force stop the app and the lights would stay off until you reboot your phone.

[TIPS] Lower Your Screen Power Consumption

Hello guys I wrote a guide that will help you improve your battery life because screen is the most thing that uses battery, here is a solution for all that, don't forget that the screen sensor for auto brightness is also taking lot of power.
enjoy

I think we tested screen filter current draw on the nexus one and it showed no difference since its a software solution only. The mA draw remained unchanged using it or not.
Anybody noticed the difference, its doing great here.
This doesn't strain my eye as much, but doesn't see much on battery.

I've been using screen filters for a long time now. Great app!
Sounds interesting, I guess, but lately I've been thinking my screen is actually more dim than I'd like it to be. To be honest, I wish auto-brightness settings erred on the side of "more bright" rather than "less bright." There's probably a mod for just that, but I haven't really looked for it yet.
I managed 4h30m screen time on auto brightness, data on.

From the dialer, go menu, call settings. You should see a check box for use extra volume for calls. I doubt enabling it will help your issue, but certainly worth a shot it to see if it does.
Could it be in speakerphone mode?
Tried that. Still very loud. Not really sure what to do other than deal with it.

I experienced this as well. I fixed it by pressing the volume down, and then using my finger to adjust the volume down the rest of the way, then suddenly my volume toggles starting working perfectly (like holding the volume down took it allll the way down)

Does the ROM you're using have any sort of EQ enabled amplifying your speaker? ie DSP Manager, Volume+, etc.
Have you run the sound test using headphones yet?
Is it still too loud over BT or headset calls?
Lastly do you ever encounter the volume getting louder when you turn it down?
-- Note II, TapaTalk II--
If it's loud on low setting then all that's left is earplugs.
Download another ROM

Im running cleanrom and it uses a mod caled sTweaks. You can change the gain on any volume setting (call, music via speaker, music via headphones, etc) check your rom to ensure it doesnt have a tool of this nature allowing you to turn it down

if you are rooted, check out this thread. it could answer some of your battery hogging problems.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1977223&highlight=battery+life
Before you root, try this:
Go into your settings and go into Location Services. Uncheck all 3. You WILL see your battery life improve big time. What really drains your battery is most likely you syncing a lot of accounts and you having location services turned on whereas then google maps constantly tries to get your location, thus you have partial wakelock waking your phone even when screen is off. Now try to see what accounts can you do without much syncing such as Facebook, gmails, etc. These 2 are 2 of the most basic battery drainers known.
And of course the above is also right, media scanning kills..but you'll need to root to solve that problem.
I don't need to debloat! I use AOSP LOL!

[Q] Samsung Glaxy Note 2 WiFi problem

Hello;
I have a Samsung Galaxy Note 2 running Jelly Bean 4.1.2
Problem:
Sometimes my WiFi turns itself on, i turn it off and stare at the screen couple seconds later it turns itself on without me touching the phone.
When at home and the WiFi is turned off it says "Connected to VirginMedia (my WiFi)" and makes my signal cut out (Internet signal E.G H+).
Its highly annoying, ive tried changing things in the WiFi advanced settings and the mobile data settings and it still continues to do this.
I have done the *#0011# and gone to WiFi and turned power saving move off and no change :\
I havent updated anything recently and its only just occured
Please someone help !

Amigo, "Sprint Connections Optimizer" is a system utility that Sprint jams in to their stock ROMs. You cannot remove it, all you can do is turn it off. I believe via Network Setting somewhere.
The theory behind the utility is that it checks what internet connections are available and picks the quickest one....the reality is that it wastes battery and does a terrible job at optimizing anything,
Oh okay, ive seen videos for the s3 etc its simply untick it but the Note 2 doesn't have that option I cant find it anywhere :/
