Good idea?

Wife wants a new phone...I was thinking of adding her to my account and getting a galaxy nexus (only cuz its lte and stock ics) and giving her my beloved gs2
Will I regret it? Should I hold off on final cm9?

In 8 days the galaxy s3 goes on sale. I would wait till then.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium
I think it's a good idea. I myself like the Galaxy Nexus more than the better spec'd SIII, but that may because Samsung waited almost two years (don't quote me on that) to release the SII and then 9 months for the SIII. Also, you'd be sure to get updates more quickly with the Nexus as it is pure Google.

Should I get Galaxy Nexus or wait for the next Nexus smartphone

I have Nexus S and software speaking GNex and NS are almost the same, ignoring the few advantages GNex has because of the hardware.
My sister got Galaxy S3 few days ago and now I want a new phone as well lol. Since I'm gonna dump a $***load of money, and I much more prefer Nexus dev phone rather than TouchWiz or anything manufacturer related, should I wait for the next quad core (and better camera, since that 2 things are bugging me about GNex) or buy this one.
I know how having a Nexus rocks, all the roms, tweaks, ports available for my Nexus S are just awesome, so I can imagine what to expect for this one or the future one!
I'm asking this because you guys have it and know it.
I almost ended up buying Note but stores jacked the price here, so no... currently GNex HSPA+ is around 300€ - 350€ here, unlocked. Thanks!
Sent from my Nexus S using Tapatalk 2
Well if you can wait til Q4 I'd say wait for the next nexus, especially if you're signing a contract.

Hilarious actually. I upgraded from the nexus s, and other than the bigger screen I really don't notice a while back of a lot of difference with the nexus. Was already running CM9.

Facepalming cuz we get three of these things a day. Should I get a nexus.....
Sent From My Sprint Galaxy Nexus
Wait, not worth upgrading without subsidy unless you can find a used one for cheap. If you're on tmobile, change to the cheap plan and you can buy new phones off contract.

People need to stop obsessing over quad cores especially when the newer dual cores are on par with them.
Because I can, and I was bored.
Correction: November through January.
Just get the Nexus. Then get the Nexus tablet when it gets out. :-D It's a great phone, why wait?

That's what I did when I bought my gnex.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
I guess that's the cool thing about a Nexus phone, even when the next one comes out, this one will still be relevant.
It's not like the jump from dual core to quad will be as significant IMO as single to dual.
Such as the GNex can and will leave the N1 and Nexus S in the dust in the following years, the next Nexus will take much longer to leave the GNex in the dust.
Clearly under par GPU on nexus ...wait for the next one and hope its better! Then buy it
Note that the price of the new Nexus could be twice as much compared to the current price of Galaxy Nexus.
But if money is not a problem, buy this, then buy the next Nexus when it comes out
Just wait it out. As good as the GN is, it's not that big of a jump from your current phone.

If you're going to drop an assload of money like you're stating... You could buy the Gal Nex and get the next Nexus too .
Its not that your nexus s is completely behind. I'd wait till next nexus.

Switching Phones

I love aosp/aokp. But I decided to order the new sprint evo lte.
I love the gnex. Its 1 of my favorite phones. Now with the announcement of jb and all this crazy development, I'm sad to see it go.
Anyone have a similar situation going on?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium

Best of luck to you and your EVO LTE.

Great dev support, but the gps was pretty weak and the keyboard skipped on every stock rom which is just pitiful of Samsung to have never completely fixed.
S2 was good but they took out the audience sound processor and dedicated gps chip in the sprint version, otherwise was great. However battery life went way downhill after the move to ICS base. Also the vibrating camera module is like wtf?
Got my S3 today and it seems really solid hardware wise. I think Sammy finally got it all right this time around (fingers crossed). Only problem I've seen around here is cracked glass from 2" drop onto carpet (ok, exaggerated) so I hope that holds up for me. Also I notice the screen has a blue cast when viewed at an angle, and can appear slightly washed out with text on certain backgrounds.

I only hope I'm as happy with the sg3 as I was with my epic... I'd say I will be, loving this phone thus far!
The epic my first smart phone per say. Switched from Verizon on LG-1000 Voyager (quasi smart phone) to sprint and the epic, it was a good run but glad I'm here on the sg3 now!

S2 if you like to root and mod. Motorola locks up their devices tighter than a frogs ass, and 9 times out of 10 rooting them breaks something. Like original photon unlocking the bootloader came at the expense of 4g  If you're looking for an lte device you could go for the s3 or s3 mini, or gnote2 instead of the older s2. If you shop around amazon and bestbuy you can find the s3 for $49.99 with upgrade and $.01 for new accounts about once a week. Once you find the deal on amazon you can have best buy price match it for you and save on shipping and waiting

This. The photon may be better if you need a slide out keyboard or late. But there are better late devices. And development aucks for Motorola devices...
