What happens when we reach Z? - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

I want to know what happens when we finish all the 26 letters on some version of android?

And this matters specifically to Galaxy Nexus how?
I know what you mean though. Google'll probably mix words.

because the nexus is pure google and google = android and android = google which means its related to the nexus which is infact google and android!

They start from the beginning again. By then they will be long forgotten.

I think by the time there have been 17 more versions of Android, we won't still be using Android...

Yeah if they go to the "version a year" model that Apple has, then that will be quite some time from now. I agree: Android probably won't be around then.
EDIT: Unless the smartphone market becomes like the PC market. I.e. Windows, Mac, Linux.

Android will be around, but the software may have a different name. Windows/Microsoft, Android/Linux, iOS/Apple, I think are here to stay.

They just change names like Baindroid Applesauce. A,A-Z then B,A-Z

Well they're already going 1 version a year and have said so. Guess we'll see. I just don't think that 5 years from now our phones will be running Android as we think of it today. Don't think this naming convention issue is something Google needs to worry about

I don't think we'll see Android live to make it to the letter Z...

It'll no doubt be chrome OS and simply be chips in our brains by then.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium

When Google makes it to z then... apple will have been bought out and it will simply be iandroid.

I'm sure OTA updates aren't gone.
But from what I understand, if I'm wrong correct me please.
Apple sued Google because apparently apple has rights over being able to search for certain things inside the phone. Like apps specifically I think
So I think that's probably what Google is gonna remove.
As far as I know and understand.

But im pretty sure the feature won't be entirely gone.
IMHO, apple is very childish.
not to mention that the only thing keeping them alive is the false 'hype' for their devices.
Trust me, ive had iphones, and Id switch an iphone any day of the week for a Nexus or GS3
But seriously, don't worry about the search thing, most likely google will either find a way around it, or you know..

which 5 manufactors will google used to make the next nexus?

Ok,I know there are going to be LG, Samsung, Motorola, HTC..whom else and which manufacture,s product will you buy... Whom is the 5th maker ?
These are the ones I'd choose.
Me 1) Samsung 2) Motorola 3) HTC.

Well, you don't actually know...
Its a rumor still.
You're referring to the Wall Street Journal report? I don't believe they said they'd all be phones or all be released at the same time, so Asus would be the likely fifth manufacturer and they've already begun with the Nexus 7 tablet.
There won't be 5 Nexus phones. And until we see the next Nexus phone we won't know who makes it.
Stop reading Android blogs. It's just propaganda!
Samsung, HTC, Sony, Motorola, and Asus is who I want . I really think the updates would be scattered if this happens. So hopefully there is one GSM pentaband Nexus and 4 other devices supported almost as much as the nexus.

The WSJ said there'll be 5 Nexus devices this year. We've already seen 2, the Nexus 7 and Nexus Q. The new Nexus phone will come out at the end of the year, and there are rumors of a Nexus 10 at around the same time. Leaves 1 device left unaccounted for.

You could replace "Android" with just about anything in that statement. Android blogs should be read like tabloid magazines. Just for entertainment that, for the most part, shouldn't be taken seriously. But I do enjoy reading some
As for the question. IMHO every manufacture has made a poor device, just hope whoever is picked respects the brand

No info on carriers yet, why wouldn't it be on Verizon? Galaxy Nexus is.
IMO the Gnex on vzn is like the a red head stepchild compared to the others on different carriers. They had a it exclusively on release but bombed it when it came to updates, 3 month delay on jb....the G wallet fiasco... Idk just don't see it in the cards
Not to mention that all new vzn Samsung phones have locked bootloaders when they're wide open on the other carriers.

True. But the otas are still needed for kernel source right? (Or does that worry vanish for some reason on a nexus?) I mean isn't kernel source why battery life on cm9/10 is meh for us right now? I think aeros builds are hacked up gb kernels, although its impressive how far he's brought things. Anyways I hate skins and much prefer vanilla android, hence why I prefer nexus. Different strokes for different folks I guess but I don't know why anyone would actually choose to run sense. If I was Google I'd be pissed all these companies are skinning android.

The thing is that Google tries to release timely updates for their own devices. The other manufacturers like to screw with things by adding their skin on top of the Android version and ruin everyone's day. Why can't we just get our updates or be given the option to choose what launcher we want!?! :'(

I seriously doubt Samsung would make a Nexus based on the Galaxy Note. And LG making a Nexus would mean that I wouldn't want a Nexus. I already stated why I wouldn't want one so yeah. The only Nexus I would ever want would have to be by ASUS or Samsung. I never want another Nexus from HTC ever again (not because of software but hardware issues).

I would buy a nexus 7, but there no Amoled screen. If Samsung made the 7 it would be the same (or better) as the GN. And it would have a 1080p display. Of course it would cost 300-400$, but in my opinion an amazing display is worth it.

Question ... just fyi the dinc2 is my first android. So I confess ignorance on thus stuff. I know that moto bootloaders are virtually unlockable. But does this worry matter with nexus phones? And specifically with LG phones? I really don't care about manufacturer. I care more about raw competitive specs and the ability to get s off and root. Is achieving both typically easy on nexus phones? Or can they be released locked down like moto has done with all their droids to date? Thanks for any incite. I wish I knew half of what the average poster on here knows about this stuff. Love this board.

We can now consider the i747/M an outdated device after the 18-month Open Handset Alliance requirements. There is no incentive for Samsung or your carrier to roll-out firmware releases for our phones now that the S4 is the current flagship.
I agree. Unlikely and am pretty sure it will be S5 time by then anyway.
I really think that it's simply a naming thing. It's already been said that they didn't exchange any money for the deal. I really doubt that they'll be any other form of marketing except for kitkat's competition to win a few android products.

Not only is the Open Handset Alliance dead, it was DOA.
That 18-months things was never enforced by any OEM.
