EG31 to FD19? - Samsung Epic 4G Touch

Hello!
Right now I have Stock EG31 Rom on my Epic 4G Touch! Can I install Stock FD19 Rom and then Restore all of my apps not from Nandroid but from Titanium Backup Pro? Is it possible?
If yes, what is the better way to do it?
Please, help me?
Thank you very much!

Wow eg31? Where have you been lol. Yes you should be able to using sfhubs FD19 Odin one click found here. Then you can just reinstall your apps using Titanium Backup. Don't restore system data though.

You can do it but they don't have a custom kernel recovery for fd19 yet. I suggest fd02 with CWM . It should beer in three same auto root pack. And don't use titanium backup. Use app back up off the market. It will replace all your apps with fresh copies of the same.app. And don't forget to download contact back up too. Both are excellent apps for anyone who changes roms. Good luck.

nandroid backup is that in cwm?
Never had to restore from it yet, but MyBackup Root is very highly rated and free. But you need to be rooted of course. Mine runs every night while I sleep and provides some sense of security.

Yes, the Clockwork Mod Recovery backup is called a Nandroid backup.
BONSAI 4 and loving it!
Sdx application remover does pretty good for system apps.

Help please anyone with an ec05 backup

Firstof all I would like to know if restoring a backup using cwm would change the modem(baseband version) to the oneused in the back up? If so then is it possible for someone who has a backup of any ec05 rom or whatever thathas a baseband version of ec05 to send me there back up and I put it on my sdcard in clockworkmod/backup and I could go restore it? And I would have the ec05 modem?
Ca anyone tell me if this would work or wuld I have problems with md5 and stuff..

Nope. Clockwork Mod doesn't backup the modem. To change it you have to use odin, or when sprint releases the ota update.

Q about titanium

ok so I have titanium back up. I am going to fully back up my phone then do a factory restore so I can update to EI22 then Can I use Titanium to restore everything(minus the apps that need root) or do I have to be rooted for titanium to work. The goal here is to go back to full stock on EI22 no root but have all my stuff
Thanks

You have to be rooted. After about a day all your apps you previously downloaded should appear in the Market under my apps so you can redownload them. And as long as you saved your contacts on Google and not your phone, they will be there. Otherwise you can export your contacts to the sd card and import them after.

Thanks and I made sure to click the thanks button. This is what I will try.

If you do root EI22 then, make sure you restore only your user apps. Don't restore the whole list of system apps too. Just in case you didn't know...

Can I batch restore with Titanium after ICS update?

So i've been reading for over an hour and didn't find an answer to this so I guess it warrants a new thread.
I'm currently on Calkulin's 3.0 (EL29) Gingerbread Rom with Rouge 1.1.2 recovery.
So I planned on using Odin to flash stock EL29 tar. then manually update ICS (unless I get the OTA pushed automatically). Then plan on rooting ICS and adding CWM.
Two Questions:
1. Is that the best way to go about getting ICS?
2. After I update, root and reinstall Titanium Backup Pro can I batch restore everything I had or am I asking for trouble by doing that?
I don't have tons of apps but I did do Calkulin's "Bare Rom Converter" after installing his ROM. (not sure if that makes a difference).
I don't know about using batch titanium... To be safe I would use app backup and restore in play store to keep the apps you want and use titanium after you are running the rooted setup you choose, to then restore data to the apps. Never tried running batch this would be a safe method.

Just batch restore. Prefer to do App Only and then only restore data to things like games with progress or apps that would be a pain in the ass to configire.
The main area you would actually have trouble in anyways is restoring old data to a new version of an app. I always update before I backup and the only things I do not restore from a backup is titanium backup and any apps already installed. So you might try to restore data to say swype and there be a version difference.
Restoring game data should not be an issue, restoring system app data might give you massive grief through.
Thank you for your replies. I'll leave system apps alone and won't restore Titanium or Swype. I've updated everything from play store.
Might just restore downloaded apps & just one at a time.

Help!!!!!! Stock Root, Now No Status Bar, Also Cant.....

Hey XDA friends...seriously over my head noob here, I performed the Odin One Click stock root posted on You Tube by QbKing last week. Maybe two days ago, I lost my status/notification bar as well as the ability to answer phone calls. i can make them tho. Also, my home screen icons are dissappering randomly (possibly only at reboot, I'll have to check on that). This all occurred it seems, when Titanium B/U prompted me to save certain apps to SD. Please help me and i will promise not to ever again take you alls training and long hours learning your craft lighty again! Thx.
Did you keep your data? If so the best way is a totally clean install. Give it another shot.
Thanks
I did in fact do a "save data root", and I'm embarrassed to say, how might I go about performing a clean install, and would I have root privileges after, and finally, any tips or advice on how one might avoid this type of thing in the future? Thank you for taking some of your time to guide the blind and aimless

re download the one click, making sure it is ff18 or el29 depending on whether you want gb or ics, then reflash it in odin using the same video as a guide. Weird you lost that status bar though, usually it won't boot if you had a bad download. I suspect with titanium backup you restored a gingerbread launcher on an ics rom or vice versa. Avoid restoring apps from titanium unless you know what you are doing would be my advice.

Thx for that info cuz I was doing just that.... attempting to restore certain back ups, one being the stock launcher. So are you suggesting a complete wipe and then download and reflash the one click? Honestly, the reason I orginally decided on the root option is sorta of dumb I suppose. I was sure that my ex had installed spyware on my phone and saw root as the only viable option for discovery, I actually like the stock rom and initially really liked the stock w/root. Obiviously I have a lot to learn...and express my genuine appreciation for knowlegdeable people such as yourself for helping me pull my head out my ass inch by inch.:

Here you go http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1721229
Then Install this one
2) Download the FF18 full restore One-Click self-extractor
SPH-D710.FF18_CL663858_ROOTED-oc-sfx.exe [Mirror1 / Mirror2] (RESET user data)
[MD5: 16c7d577feda23d1f4deb448d6453735 / Size: 311,608,965]
Also if you have access to a wifi connection or good 4g speeds I would recommend downloading all of your apps again and truly starting from scratch. It should take about an hour to do it all assuming you dont have hundreds of apps.
Just sync your phone now, do the one click, after boot update profile and prl then sign into google account and resync then start setting up apps. This is when you decide if you really need all the crap you previously had on your phone.

also, not sure if i mentioned that initially all functions were operational after ROM flash....it was only after I got to jacking with stuff, did that happen. Oh yeah, also have had a few soft resets occur ass well.
Here, enter the link below in your url bar (assuming you are on Windows). It is sfhub's one click. Just click the file after it downloads and flash it.
http://little-melon.com/sfhub/SPH-D710.FF18_CL663858_ROOTED-oc-sfx.exe
Be sure to go to the thread and thank him, just posted the link so you would have the right one.
Word of warning, you are going to lose your apps and will have re download them. If the phone doesn't boot after flashing it, re download again because you simply had a bad download.

Thx....one question. I've read threads, albiet, not really any thing current (like late 2011), expressing bricking issues upgrading from GB to ICS. Should I not stick with GB? Or m I already on ICS? Is the Build no. on my "About Phone" list accurate or does it not recognize modifications?

The link I posted will give you stock rooted ICS. Flashing through odin isn't very dangerous as long as you don't touch your phone while doing it and only flash the file I linked to. And don't restore any titanium backup apps this time unless you can differentiate system apps from store apps.

With restoring your apps. In titanium back up, hit restore missing apps. Then before you hit restore make sure restore only apps not apps+data. This way its only the apps you have downloaded and they are fresh.

Also dont flash anything from the recovery included with stock rom. Use this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1767421 or some other safe kernel

It sounds to me like when you used TiBu to move apps to SD you accidently moved system apps including the systemui.apk and dialer and/or contacts possibly. When moving apps to SD thru TiBu never move apks in red, also never restore those apps or their data if you switch to a different rom version

Ah....which is the logical approach in hind sight, thank you for preventing the same from reoccurring AGAIN! You guys are a life saver.....well once again, you guys are life saver, well at the very least, a smartphone saver! Cuz this one has come very close to being spiked like a game winning touchdown more than once. Though I'm well aware who is responsible for its problems. I'm so glad to have checked back before starting over and have since "read the effing manual" on TBU and with your expert advice, I may even be able to salvage what little of my sanity I still possess. Keep the info coming if you've remembered anything else I might be missing or overlooking. Thanks again for your time....as a father of two teenage boys and too many hobbies, I well appreciate how valuable a commodity time is.
