nandroid backup is that in cwm?

Never had to restore from it yet, but MyBackup Root is very highly rated and free. But you need to be rooted of course. Mine runs every night while I sleep and provides some sense of security.

Yes, the Clockwork Mod Recovery backup is called a Nandroid backup.
BONSAI 4 and loving it!

Sdx application remover does pretty good for system apps.

[Q] Real Quick Question

Im fixing to start rooting my completey stock EVO 2.2.. but first, is there a free app thats best for backing up my phone how it currently sits? Thanks.
The only thing I've heard people use is MyBackup. You can give the trial version a shot.
Once you're rooted, you should probably get the donate version of Titanium Backup. It makes it incredibly easy to backup and restore stuff.

MyBackup is good when you don't have root. After, TB is the best app. In addition after root, you can do a nandroid backup which is like a Windows Restore Point in that it allows you to restore to a previous state in case you totally mess something up. It is recommended before flashing a new ROM or kernel.

[Q] How can I beat angry birds if I lose my progress everytime I flash a new rom?

As the title states, is it possible to keep your progress from angry birds (or other games and apps) when flashing a new rom?
--Shadd
Use a back up app, save the app+data
This is the only app I backup with titanium free so I don't lose progress.
Dam now I know for next time

Or you can just use the cheat to unlock all worlds if you want...

Titanium backup works great. Been using it since it was released. Just be weary about backing up and restoring system settings.

[Q] Full Backup Tool

What is considered to be the best full backup tool available so I can upgrade from 2.2 to 2.3 without losing any data whatsoever?
Thanks
Is your phone rooted? If so, Titanium Backup is an excellent choice.

Titanium Backup hands down, no competition.
next best is Nandroid backup in CW Recovery
i use mybackup root and would all the time use it, i used titanium before and had often issues with it, anyway anyone has different taste .
Thanks for the information. I'm going to try MyBackup and keep my fingers crossed.
Does titanium back up the rom, or just the apps?

root backup is what i use. i love it
Hi,
I am planning to root my SGS. But before doing so, I like back it up. So what tool should I use for this purpose?
First you root it, only then can you backup 'everything'. Checkout Titanium Backup at market.
You wont lose anything just by rooting.

Backup a whole system...one XPlay to another XPlay?

How can I backup a whole system from one XPlay (all apps, data, call logs, sms, etc) to another XPlay? I'm buying a 4G version and I am currently using the 3G version...
Make a Nandroid backup in Clockworkmod
And restore it with CWM in the destination phone.
You mean, the Clockworkmod ROM Manager?

No, Clockworkmod recovery
Thanks.... and does the destination phone have to have the same ROM? What if the old ROM had Gingerbread and the new one, ICS?
They must have the same kernel
Hands down (a little bit more n00b-friendly):
Make sure both devices have same kernel and clockwork recovery, backup everything in one, grab the folder with the backup images from sdcard/clockworkmod (or something)/backups/, send it to the second device to the same location n sdcard and restore everything, that's it.
Is Titanium backup good enough?

If you don't want to keep the same ROM, mods, and other stuff that doesn't come with stock, then yes it definitely is. I really recommend the PRO version for batch restore.

you can also use MyBackup Root/Pro, but you need to root your play first..
Noob question
Can you also restore a nand backup on same kernel but different rom?

Using Amon-RA 2.3, nandroid backup, Evo 4G, Sorry pretty new to this.
Restore a backup ? Did you do a full wipe before you restored it. That might help. I forgot to once and a bunch of my apps were missing but I did a full wipe and then restored and it was fine

Its generally accepted that the smelkus mod recovery is the way to go for our evo. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1661543
Ive never had a problem doing full restores with that. Some games need the data to be restored seperate via titianum backup I've found though.
Edit: Another thing may be that you made a nandroid before you installed gapps and such.
Thanx, working better with smelkus
