I use a black themed one that allows for lower density and has no region restrictions.

Would like to install the stock vanilla News and Weather widget I had on my Nexus-S. Is there one available for the Epic Touch ? Even better if there's a transparent version ?

Here's what I believe is the stock GenieWidget.apk which I pulled from gapps-gb-20110828-signed.zip:
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/48008047/GenieWidget.apk
To install, just copy GenieWidget.apk to /system/app

This is a themed version that I like.

I'm not sure if astro has r/w....I use root explorer for everything and has never let me down.

Installed root explorer still can't get this file to over write the existing digital clock.

Once you push the DigitalClock.apk into system/app you'll notice that every apk in there have little letters that look like "rw-r-r", the clock ones will be different. With root explorer make sure you're on r/w, long press, go to permissions and make look like this:

Thanks thar helped. Didn't click on upper right corner Like you said. After that it over wrote just fine. Has to do a reboot and clear cache to get it to show up as a widget option. Now it works perfect. Nice ICS blue vs the outdated gingerbread green.

Only other cool thing would be a transparent weather widget that comes stock with this phone.

Glad it worked. Shouldn't need to wipe cache or anything for it to work. ..but it works now that's what counts.

I agree, I used to have 3-4 different ones saved somewhere from the vibrant days...

Is there a way to disable to little clock in the upper right corner, right next to the battery icon ? With the big digital clock widget, there is no need for two clocks.

I believe it's modifying the services.jar but not sure...when I had the vibrant all I had to do is delete it and the clock would be gone. I tried it on this phone the other day and got stuck on the galaxy S screen... So apparently that doesn't work. lol
Here's some icons i've accumulated over the years. over 300 icons for you guys, i don't claim rights to any of them. Includes ICS icons, Honeycomb and more. Enjoy.

Just save it anywhere on SD card. Long press on icon you want to change, hit replace, choose custom icon, then either file explorer or gallery, and choose the icon your looking for.

ihateu your ics app drawer icon is in custom folder and ics folder of new zip.
I see on pac man rom the weather theme is actually a picture and the weather on liquidsmooth and cm10 is a drawing...it's there anyway to change that since they are both asop?I don't want a third party lockscreen..
Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda premium
You could get a apk manager and extract both framework-res.apk's (or systemui, I forget) and swap the two weather images. Then zip them up again. If you need more info just post again.

I've actually changed framework by pushing files into the apk from winrar...like top bar icons...then overwriting the file on my phone with root explorer and reboot...would that work with this? And what files do I need to change....?
Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda premium
I just opened the pac framework and there are 2 weather files....weather_00-47.png
And weather_aokp_00-47.png
The 1st one looks like the drawing and the 2nd one looks like the one I want...
So I should rename the 2nd ones to the names of the 1st ones and then push them into the framework and then send the file to my phone right?
Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda premium
ok it worked!!!!! for all those who want the aokp lockscreen weather images on liquidsmooth here is the edited framework
THIS IS FOR LIQUIDSMOOTH RC9 ONLY
i dont know what it would do to the others
make a backup just in case
Here is a pic...see the weather is not a drawing anymore...

They are images in framework-res. What you'll want to do is pull the images from framework-res/res/drawable_xhdpi. They're called keyguard_ lockscreen_time. Recolor the images then use something like xplore file explorer from play store to put the images back in framework-res
