Hi.
Me and my brother both have a Kindle fire and they are both using CM7.
A problem has come up lately and my brother's kindle fire has wifi issues... Using the web browser , the wifi works fine. But when I try connecting to the google play store it gives a "no connection" error.
I found the fix for 2 kindles on the same wifi network and did it on both but the problem persists...
Small games like draw something work, but order and chaos online gets a connection error..
any help?
Ive checked the mac addressed and they are both different..
Hope this resolves...
I have had this issue before, but had the stock rom on my Kindle. I switched to CM7 and the problem was solved, until today. I ran across this posting, but saw there was no reply. I did some further searching and now I sit with a fully functional Kindle. The fix was surprisingly simple. My date had been reset for whatever reason. I went into my settings, made the date current and was promptly able to access Google Play again, along with the other problematic apps. Give it a shot, I hope it helps. If you are both on the same network, this could have been due to a reset of your router's time setting.

Hi, everyone, I have a DINC2 running CM7 and I have never had problems with my home Wi-Fi before and just today I accidently 'forgot' my home Wi-Fi and I tried to reconnect but it just says "Stuck on IP Address" and then disconnects. I reset the router many times and even tweaked a couple settings but nothing seems to work. I also used the Static IP but my phone just says "Connected" and when I go in the browser, my page doesn't load. Please help! (Notice, nothing wrong with my router because I need it to work to access my home Internet.)

Haven't rooted my Dinc2 yet, but I came from a rooted Eris running GSB based on CM7.1. And I although GSB's wifi worked Ok, my experience was that CM7 never connected as quickly or reliably as the OEM Sense did on the Eris... it become something I lived with, often having to manually go into the wifi settings dialog to get things to connect. When I got my Dinc2 last week I was surprised, and pleased to remember, how quickly its OEM Sense 2.1 grabs onto the wifi.
But just as a check, can you nand backup your current CM7 install and then nand restore a previously-good installation to make sure it's not either the phone or router?
Before doing anything drastic, try pulling the battery on your phone, let it sit for a few minutes and restart.. I've had this problem before and this fixed it

Just got my A100 yesterday and had really high hopes for it, but it appears to have done something to my home wifi.
Everything was going great with the tab until I decided to reboot the device. Upon reboot it would not connect to my wifi (it connected fine before reboot), just kept trying to obtain IP address and failing, disconnecting over and over. I tried factory reset and no dice, can't get a connection. So I figure I got a lemon and did RMA to send it back, boxed it up ready to send. Then I try and connect to wifi with other devices (Droid X phone and 3 Kindle Fires) and get the exact same thing.
My two desktops are running over wifi and work fine. All of the Rokus in the house work fine. Just the tablets and phones can't get a connection. WTF?
It has to be something the A100 did, nothing like this has ever happened to my network before, and it can't be a coincidence that it happens the very day the A100 arrives.
Anybody have any ideas? I am guessing it changed some setting but have no idea what it might be (or why in the hell it would do such a thing).
Any help appreciated.
Have you tried rebooting your wireless router? Some times a device will lockup the dhcp lease service, you'll be able to connect up to the router, but thats about it... usually rebooting the router resolves this issue.
Wow, I feel dumb... I guess that didn't occur to me since the desktops were working.
Anyway thanks for the reply, issue fixed, now I can get back to enjoying the A100
My google market randomly stopped working today, it repeatedly says "no connection" i also noticed that the little wifi bars in the status bar are white. So i tried to reinstall googleservicesframework.apk and put vending.apk in system/app folder but no success. Any idea what i can do? Im on cm7
Sounds like you don't have a network connection. Make sure your wifi is connected - verify that you can browse the web. Market will not work if you don't have a wifi connection.

i know this is an old post and you have probably found a solution, but I thought I'd let other people worked for me...
I have the Tab 7.7 and had this problem a number of times - I tried loads of stuff mentioned on forums, but couldn't get the 'google connection' back without doing a data reset...
But when same thing happened yesterday, I noticed that time / date was incorrect (date was sometime in the year 2000!!!) - Once I fixed that, everything was OK!!
This happened to me the other day. I had tried to log in to google play, and got the "no connection, retry" message. Realized I was not connected, so I turned my wifi back on and still got the message. Refreshing did not help. I cleared my cache/cookies and tried again and then I was able to connect.
Doesn't work either.....
I have the same problem. I don't know if this is the place to post or not, but I cannot find a solution. My kindle fire has been rooted for about two months now and has never had a problem until today. My WiFi icon suddenly went grey and non of Google services work;they just say there is a network error. But,my innernet conection is working fine. Please help!!!!
I have to bump this thread to get some help with the same problem on my wife's Kindle Fire. She was given this device just yesterday by an older couple who's son had rooted it for them however he was unable to get the Google apps to work. This KF is able to browse the internet without any trouble, however I cannot connect to any Google service because it won't let me access an existing account or create a new one.
The real difference here is that I'm not the one that rooted the device and I don't know how to do any of it. I've been searching the forum looking for a thread like this hoping for help. So I don't have any of the programs on my PC to make any changes. I've looked at the threads explaining how to root, but I don't think they really apply to my situation of simply trying to make Google work.
Any help would be great
Has anyone else experience their WIFI connection almost completely stop working? For the last few days either I get no connectivity at all or very slow, but every now and then for a few minutes it will run at normal speeds.
I'm stock, rooted, no custom recovery or 2nd bootloader. I've rebooted the kindle and my router multiple times. I've done a full factory reset on the Kindle. None of that helped. There's 3 laptops, 2 other tablets, and 2 phone all running fine on the WIFI so I don't think it's the router.
If anyone has any suggestions. I'd appreciate it.
Have you done any other modifications other than rooting?

I've got the google services installed to get the Play Store working, and installed NOVA launcher. I think that's all.
Well, I thought it may be something with the drivers gone funny, so I finally got around to getting 2nd bootloader and recovery going. I tried CM10, I tried Hashcode's stock ROM, and I tried the full restore from the KFHD First Aide tool. All the same results. I'll get intermittent bursts of full speed, but for the most part every web page, market request or attempt to stream something times out.
When I look at the WIFI settings in the kindle, it pretty consistently says 39Mb link speed. My phone is connecting at 26Mps, but everything works no problem as do all the other devices.
I know I'm heading into O/T territory, but does anyone know what Router Settings to check for that may be limiting just one device? Failing that I'm going to have to return to stock and see if I can get some help from Amazon.
Thanks in advance!
I'm also having some wifi issues like you. Mine's 8.4.3, rooted, with google play store and a few other things. Like you, all my wireless settings seem to be ok, several other devices use the wifi without any problems. And like you, I've had CM 10.1 installed in the past and I'm back on the stock Amazon rom.
One hunch that I had yesterday was the following: I bought a cover for my Kindle that can cover the back and front of the kindle. When I use it normally, I fold the front cover around to the back of the device, meaning there's a double cover on the back when in use. I thought to myself, maybe the cover is blocking the wifi signal or something... I then tried changing the cover to "kickstand" mode, so that it wasn't against the back of the device. It seemed to help, but I still need to do more testing.
If you have a cover then maybe try taking it off and testing the wifi. If not then I'm out of ideas, but I'm not sure how it could be a software problem, since you've tried different ROMs with the same results.
Apparently, after a quick google search, it looks like a lot of people are having wifi problems with the kindle fire HD. Perhaps the following thread will help: http://www.mobileread.com/forums/showthread.php?t=210002. It mentions changing some router settings. I'll try it on mine when I get home.
Make sure that QoS is disabled on your router.

Thanks for the suggestions. No help unfortunately.
I need to get somewhere I can try connecting to a different router. If that's still unusable, I think it's time for the service call.
I attempted to download an app from Google Play yesterday and noticed the download was running very slow so i stopped it and re-tried it a few times. It then stalled and would not download at all so I closed Google Play store and went back into it, now I get 'No Connection' in the center of the screen and Google Play will not work. I have since tried my stock Android browser and I get 'Web page not available' and also Youtube and Amazon app store have similar issues. However, what doesn't make sense is that some Internet based apps work fine and Dolphin browser works fine too. If I switch off Wi-Fi and connect to 3G everything works fine so the issue lies with the Wi-Fi connection. My wife who has the same phone can connect and use the Wi-Fi fine without any issues and any other Internet device I have is still working as it should be. It appears it is only my phone with the issue.
I have tried checking date/time which is correct.
I have reset cache and cleared data for both the browser, Youtube and Google Play
I have rebooted my phone and my broadband router
I have tried changing the security settings to from WPA2-PSK (AES) to WPA/WPA2-PSK (Mixed Mode)
All to no avail.
I have rooted Android 4.3 but it has been working fine for over a year before now. I would want to avoid doing a factory reset at all costs as I have some important apps that can't be backed up with the likes of Helium and some other forums have shown that a factory reset has not resolved the issue.
Any help on this matter would be much appreciated.
After a day of trying to resolve this issue I have finally managed to fix it. This may be useful for anyone else having the same issue:
I went into my Wi-Fi settings and looked for my router in the list and did a long tap on the name and chose 'Forget Network' so it removes my router. I then did a re-scan so it picked it back up. When tapping it, this time I was able to re-enter my Wi-Fi password and connect. After doing this everything started working again.
I've no idea why all of a sudden the network failed to work correctly but at least it is now sorted. I just don't understand why some Internet access worked and others did not. I guess I shall never know!
