So I have done the official 2.2 upgrade but now my wifi isn't working. I have gone into software updates and updated the profile, prl, and checked for new software and firmware.
Wifi keeps saying "obtaining ip address". It's my home wifi and before the update it was working flawlessly.
Appreciate the help.
Do I have this posted in the wrong section, or has this question been answered? I've searched high and low.
Try reflashing newest radio and wimax. Flash one at a time. This has happen to me before with wifi and 4g but on 1. 47. If that does not work flash calklins v1. 02 rom. I am using that on wifi typing thos response. Good luck

from the sound of it he flashed the official OTA so probably isnt rooted.
Have you tried it with any other routers to see if it connects?
try unplugging yor router and re plugging it back in to reset it and try connecting if that doesnt work sounds like your radio is messed up and you may have to take ti to a sprint store so they can reflash it if you arent rooted.

I am using the router for my laptop right now so I dont think the router is the problem.
I had the unofficial .3 update which is when my wifi stopped working, then I upgraded with the fix to .6 last night, still no wifi. I am not root, just bone stock .6 froyo...
Take it to sprint service center. Or delete the wifi settings in the phone and reconnect.

The reason i suggest resetting the router is because they often store information about a MAC address, When the information changes sometimes routers have connection issues. you dont see it a lot and since most of the time the information doesnt change (you dont update much on your pcs that would cause this). When it does change (ie a radio from a phone) it can sometimes cause issues. that's why i suggested you restart the router. I have had it happen several times when changing radios on my phones over the years.
Just because 1 thing connects to a router does not mean it cant contribute to another thing not connecting to it. I also wouldnt bet my life that it would fix it or anything.i was just giving a suggestion that HAS worked for me in the past when similar issues happened.IT was a good place to start. It would also help verify the problem is in deed with the phone from an actual tech point stand instead of an assumption.
anyway best of luck with getting this fixed

Gave it a shot, but still no luck. Keeps on trying to obtain IP address. Won't connect at my friends house anymore either.

it is definatly the phone then. It sounds like thw Wimax radio didnt flash right. With out Root i think your best bet is to drop by a sprint store they should be able to reflash it for you.
@chris17house
I have the same issue on my EVO that is still on 1.47.
The first time I connected my router gives my phone a lease for a ip address (lets say 192.168.0.010) and associates it with the mac address of my phone.
When I try to reconnect at a later time, the lease for my phone on the router has not expired, but the router gives my phone a new ip address (let say 192.168.0.020), which causes a conflict with the same mac address, but two different ip address. Once I reset my router and my phone the problem is fixed, because the router releases the lease and my phone does a dns flush.
Do you think flashing the wimax or radio instead of reflashing the entire rom would be worth a try? And if so, where is that file located please.
Ok, so wifi connects everywhere except my home. I have unplugged the router and modem for an hour and reconnected them. I still am unable to connect to my home wifi. Is there something more i need to be doing?
I was having the same problem with work and home, but all I did was forget both locatations and discover them again.

Thats not the problem.
Hi everyone,
I'm enjoying my One X since last Thursday. I did have one problem, though : my wifi wasn't working at home. What happened is that the phone correctly connected at the network, but then it would "kill" the wifi.
I mean, neither of my laptop computer nor my old Desire (which were both connected before the One X) worked on wifi after I connected the One X, which by the way didn't work either.
Considering this issue I wen't to the carphone warehouse to have another phone.
I didn't go home straight, I got to try other wifi network, which worked perfectly.
But, at home, I'm still having the same issue !
Can anyone help me please ?
so none of your hardware is now connecting to your Wifi?
If so, I would suggest a hard reset of your Hub/router. If there is a reset button hold it in for 20-30 seconds, if not, unplug for 30 seconds.
If it's just your One X not connecting try going through settings to ensure its setup correctly.
Had the same issue with my sgs and avm fritzbox 7390. The only thing that helped was a complete factory reset of the fritzbox.
Try using a static ip, make sure it is unique.
There is a setting under wifi advanced to stop the wifi from sleeping when phone is off or kill it if the signal drops or if your phone is idle. I modified those and it works perfectly. Default setting is to kill it.
Nothing is wrong with your wifi. It's just the way you've got it setup.

Actually, my laptop and Desire are connected to the Wifi ; they can't connect only after i set my One X on the Wifi. It's like the phone is destroying the wifi network.

I didn't find those settings. In wifi advanced I only found an setting that disconnect the phone when signal is low.
I should mention that whenever the One X is set on wifi, it works for like a minute. Then all of my devices can't access the internet. Desire and One X are showing that they are connected, but no access to play store, browser... Computer is showing an error message "limited access". And my TV (which I get with my internet box) is freezing.
What I don't understand is that I tried on two friends' network, everything worked perfectly. Only at home As Cxpher said, I guess it must be my wifi that isn't set up correctly. But what can I do next, except hard reset and static ip ?
EDIT : I tried to connect the One X without having any other device connected. It worked, but as soon as I launched the Play Store, I lost the connection and had to reboot my box. Apparently the Play Store is messing everything up. Weither I have hardware connected or not, it never works (again, only at home).
Up.
Anyway, not being able to use my own wifi is a bit annoying
Same exact issue. Phone going back tomorrow.
WiFi fine for 2 years.
New one x WiFi dropping and having to reset router after 2 mins connected as all WiFi dies.
Seriously fcukd off!
Which router do you have? Is there any logging-function available in the router software/firmware?
Standard netgear.
It's been fine with s2 and hasn't needed to be reset for a over a year....until yesterday!.
Not overly tech, would a log facility help?
A log would help to see what is going on with the router when the phone connects. The fritzbox showed an authentication error when my sgs connected and killed the wifi for all devices in the network. Just googled your problem. Netgear and htc devices seem to have problems very often when connecting. You should try to get the newest fw for the netgear. Maybe that solves the problem.
Thanks for your help. Latest firmware is installed tho.
Bizzar issue!
Shame as its a nice phone too
I have a classic french box (called Bbox). For the record that actually is my second phone. I had the same issue with the first one, so I went directly to ask another one.
So has exchange phone resolved the issue?
Sorry I explained it wrong. I meant I already had the problem when I first bought the phone, so I went to get another one. I had the issue on both One X.
Well i have got a netgear router and have no problems at all must be something to do with you router or it setting i would do full reset and see if that helps
hi guys!
i had the same problem with my router ( netgear DGN 1000), i solved by updating the router firmware to latest manually! no more wifi drops now!
i hope this information can help all users with this issue!
In an other thread somebody had advised to deactivate the wifi password in the router. That helped fix the problem at his phone. I will try this too to confirm that. But wifi without password is an absolute NoGo in my opinion.
here the link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=24811292&postcount=6
I'm bringing this up again because issue is still here ; removing encryption on the wifi network changes nothing. Other thing now, it didn't only happened at home but also at work.
Warranty is now void, this is my second HOX and I had the same problem on both. Anyone has a magic solution ?
same issue
Im having the same wifi issue using a D-Link DIR-615. Wifi is working perfectly with other device but when my One X connect to wifi, it freeze the wifi network for all devices. I Always need to unplug/plug the AC cord to reboot and refresh the wifi network and after it may works for a couple of mins or maybe 1 hour and after I must reboot the router again.
My router firmware is up to date but there is no more support/firmware update for the DIR-615 REV. B since 2008!
I switched to static ip and snag persist so im back in dhcp.
I cleared the router log and will post it next time it will freeze.
I've noticed over the past couple of weeks that even though wifi is turned on and my usual networks are remembered, (home, work etc...) my One X will not connect to the wifi after it has been on a while.
When I go into settings, the wifi status cycles through 'Connecting...', 'Disconnected' and 'Scanning...'. Turning the wifi on and off on the phone has no effect.
I'm not exactly sure how long this takes to stop working, but if I restart the device, it resets the problem and I am able to use wifi again. With the quick startup and a fairly large data plan, this isn't a massive deal, but it would still be nice to be able to connect to wifi without having to restart...
Anyone had this problem before/got any ideas as to what's causing it or how to fix it? I've searched for this problem in the One X forums but found nothing, sorry if it's been brought up before...
...I have the same issue on these security protocols
WPA (TKIP)
WPA (AES)
WPA2 (TKIP)
WPA2 (AES)
WPA Mixed
Tried switching bands B, then G, now on Mixed B+G but keeps scanning, aquiring ip (Wireless router broadcasting DHCP) then skips back to scanning looping again and again.
If I reset the password on my router then it will aquire ip and be fine, but if I disconnect wireless on the phone and then try reconnect it just loops as before unless i reset the password on the router again..
Tried upgrading firmware to latest
Switched from channel 1 to 6 (midway)
It only works on the most basic WEP (hex10) setting...which surprises me as my Desire, a 2 year old device, worked just fine on WPA.
SO try WEP?

I don't want to spoil your day but I think you have a faulty unit. The same thing happened to me, with my first One X. After 4 days and nights of painfully trying everything that could fix the problem, I returned the phone and got another one. Worked strait out of the box, no issues whatsoever.
The only ways I could keep the connection was to change the security of the router to WEP, or frequently reset the router.
So if you have the possibility, change the device. Good luck.

Hmm ok thanks... Did you go through HTC or the company you bought the contract from? Just wondering whether HTC's replacement service is better than 'post it back and we'll send you a new one in a week'...
Having read in advance about the issues the One X has, described here on XDA, I decided to wait untill a reputed retailer had in physical stock, and got to see and power on the device. This also allowed a quick and hassle free exchange.
Regarding the WiFi problem, you cannot just go asking around every 30':
"... excuse me, could you please restart your
router? ... Or maybe change the security protocol to WEP?..."
I mean it's fine if you only connect vis WiFi at home where you can customize as much as you can, but what's the point of a mobile device if it's just "somewhat" mobile...:banghead:
So try and see if you can get a refund for your phone and get another from a retail store, check for screen spots, screen flickering, screen flex and of course the WiFi issue.
On the other hand the phone is truly amaizing almost cannot let it down...
Forgot to specify: One X grey, unbranded, network free.

Hey all. I need some advice. This morning my G3 (D850) dropped WiFi connection for no reason. It says the signal is good but the network info says saved, secured. It will attempt to connect over and over again and if it does connect the signal is weak as can be and it drops the connection within 2 seconds. My coworker has a G3 also and is connected to the same work network I am. His connection says excellent where as mine said good. His device connects just fine with full bars. I'm baffled. I've already tried manually selecting 2.4 Ghz and 5 Ghz instead of auto select and that didn't help at all. I've tried manually turning off WiFi and turning it back on. I've tried turning airplane mode on and then off to refresh the connection and that didn't help. I've done a battery pull as someone in one of the android authority forums suggested that (apparently I am not the only one having this issue.), didn't work. I've unchecked WiFi optimization - no dice. There was another post on a different forum here on XDA that said turning off WiFi and then deleting the WiFi config folder located in data/etc/wifi and then rebooting fixed the issue for them so I tried that. After reboot when I tried to turn on WiFi my G3 rebooted itself. Does it everytime. SO, I had to restore to a nandroid backup (btw I'm on rooted stock 10f) to get the phone to stop hating my WiFi toggle attempts. Last ditch effort I did a factory reset hoping for an easy fix... Nope. I don't know what else to try. It was fine yesterday all day. This morning it was perfectly fine and then randomly started having this issue. I haven't altered any system files whatsoever. I really don't want to send my device to LG for warranty replacement so I'm hoping someone can help me out that may have had this issue and resolved it. The only difference between my device and my coworkers device is he is still on 10d and I am on 10f. That could be the issue I guess but that doesn't really explain why my device has been perfectly fine until this morning and I've been on rooted 10f for weeks. I am planning on flashing back to straight bone factory stock 10d when I get home here in a few hours from work but Idk if that will help or not. Judging from the amount of google search results of "LG G3 WiFi connection problems" this seems to be an issue for several people. I won't know if it's on the software side or hardware side until I get home but in the meantime has anyone had these issues at all? People have had success in changing to Static IP but I would have to do that for every connection I attempt to connect to and that's a pain in the a$$. Also, that does nothing to identify the root cause of the issue. Any help would be greatly appreciated. =)

Thanks for the reply. So it turned out my phone just randomly decided it doesn't like my work network anymore. Idk why lol. I got home and it hooked right into WiFi. Gf's WiFi and open networks as well. I call shenanigans. I went ahead and flashed back to 10d anyway though.

I am having the same issue! But it is happening in other networks too...sometimes I get the phone to connect but it only works for a while and when I check the networks it only says Saved, even if I try to connect again
Having the same issue, whether at work or home, my wifi has become near useless. I've even gone as far as trying a different ROM. Didn't work.
Same thing here
I also have tried factory reset, installed a new ROM, changed settings in my router... but the problem remains I don't know what to do anymore, I use wifi a lot!! I searched through other topics but no one seem to know how to solve it. Unfortunately my warranty already expired, I took my phone to some technicians but honestly it didn't help at all...they all said it was a software bug and I should wait for an update but if it was just that a new ROM would fix it,right?
I am not very familiar with phone hardware but I assume that if it was a hardware problem I wouldn't be able to turn it on or connect to any network, right?? (any experts here???)
Any solution is welcomed.
anyone please?? :crying:
P.S : I tried a new baseband, new kernel and new ROMs. So far, nothing changed.
I can connect sometimes but get kicked out within minutes. At other times I only get the saved, secured message.
This is happening in every network
Please help.
Suddenly I have weird WiFi problem where, for instance, it won't even connect to my home WiFi. Sometimes it is saying 'Saved' sometimes 'Obtaining IP address' and sometimes 'Connecting'. When I finally get connection, sometimes it just disconnects for no reason (well, there have to be a reason), and again wouldn't connect. For instance, while I am writing this it is Obtaining IP address the whole time.
I couldn't find the pattern in these problems, but someone might be able to help.
Tried resetting modem, phone, clear cashe...
I didn't notice that my MacBook have any issues, nor my LG TV. It works fine there. I'm on 7.1.2.
Hope someone can help.
Cheers.

Have no idea if it is related, but found somewhere online that I might have bad app. Went back and checked what apps I have installed recently, and those were two apps for my new UHD LG TV. Uninstalled them, and problem went away.

The 5X's wifi sucks. I travel with my Note 4 also since that always connects to available networks, like at hotels or at airports. The 5X will often just do what yours did. I have access to Time Warner hotspots since I have their internet service. But it almost never connects and when it does it usually takes many attempts. My Note 4 would connect so easily that it would connect when I was stopped at red lights or even stop signs. The 5X takes lots of messing around. Adding and forgetting the network. Turning wifi off and back on, etc.
I have the Time Warner app to assist in connecting and that helps. I thought that app interfered with the wifi, so I remove it when travelling, but found it makes no difference.
I did find that Skype Wifi, which allows someone to connect to hotspots around the world and pay using Skype credit, did interfere with the wifi like your apps did. So some hotpots would work without it installed, but wouldn't with it installed. I took it off, but of course I can have in on my Note 4 and have no problems with any wifi hotpots.
I would agree that the 5X wifi sucks. I have issues on my home wifi as well & know it's not the network. My older Nexus 5 connects & stays connected fine. and the 5X will be setting right next to it & be 'obtaining IP" or say "No Internet" -- anyone have any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Enjoying the phone - but not this issue.
I've been having wifi problems since I got mine months ago, my internet connects for 0.5 of a second then disconnects even if I stand beside my router

I had forgotten about an issue with my router, but it affected the router. The 5Gz signal would just disappear after about a day, which would require rebooting the router to restore. I went on vacation and the router made it 3 weeks without needing to be rebooted. So obviously it was the 5X causing the issue. The router manufacturer was going to RMA it, but one of their engineers sent me a beta version of the firmware that ended up fixing the issue, but I can not use any official firmware release. My 5X now, if I put it on the 5Gz signal, will just stay for a while, then I'll look at the phone and it'll have switched to the 2.4Gz signal. So I just let it stay on that. At least the router signal doesn't completely disappear anymore, but the core issue with the 5X is still there.
One of the steps in trying to fix wifi problems used to be setting it to 2.4Gz networks only. 7.0 or some version of the OS took away that option. Someone in the Google forums requested it be put back in, but it doesn't look that that will happen.
It's the phones connectivity it's messed up, and u are able to get it replaced if u got warrienty
I did a factory reset and it does not resolve the issue as I have been having issues for the past month or two. i think its one of the updates that borked it up; but until i roll back idk
If anyone can make your 2.4 band a G type or mixed mode router and leave your ac band alone. I noticed that leaving the connection to G type keeps the connection solid for me and drops go away. I know this is not a solution but until this can be resolved. This didnt happen before and for the like of me it is IMPOSSIBLE to flash older firmware and system images on the POS device. It get stuck on the Google logo.
There was a post awhile ago in a different phone thread for HTC ( yes, i know its not the same ) but there apparently appears to be WiFi 'drivers' or 'radios' if you will and the solution was easy there, but here I think someone with some experience might have to point those out to us. ( its on this page https://forum.xda-developers.com/ve...tock-m-firmware-nand-recovery-t3330972/page32 )
I am wondering if using a set of WiFi drivers from 7.1.1 would resolve this issue or not, but I am unsure where to go to find them; anyone?
