[REQ] Sprint Galaxy Nexus Forum - About xda-developers.com

I am trying to get a forum organized for us recently members of Sprints version Galaxy NEXUS. I will try and have as many people to post in this thread to show the love and support for our new found device. Well I'm Kevin and I hope we can get this to happen thank you

Good Idea, I agree we should have a separate Sprint CDMA Galaxy Nexus Android Development Forum

I agree that we need our own separate forum. It was a mess on the ns4g until you split it for us, please start us with our own. Devs will appreciate it as well for having separate threads for reporting bugs and giving kudos...
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus

+1 avoid confusion since verizon cdma doesn't work for us anyways. Less broken devices for everyone and less headaches for devs
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2

I'll add my voice (for what it's worth) to this. It already looks difficult enough to find what you're looking for with only VZW roms in the forum - I can't (or don't want to) imagine how cluttered it would be if you were trying to find Sprint vs. VZW in the same forum.

+1 This is a good idea to split the two cdma variants for a number of reasons.

CWM - Versus TWRP
I posted t his question in the other "Sprint Nexus" thread and didn't get a response yet - I was hoping someone here could offer advice -
What are the advantages - if any - for using TWRP versus CWM? I have CWM Touch installed and it works well - but I have seen several referrences to TWRP (I think that is the spelling) and wondered if it was better than CWM ? More stble or more appropriate for our Nexus?
Anyone have any thoughts?
While I am at it - here is a question that will certainly give me "NOOB" status - when rooting my Nexus, I had to learn how to use ADB to push files and flash files on my phone - it was a first for me - having come from the EPIC 4 G - is using ADB to push or flash things to the phone really only necessary when first rooting the Nexus? Or will there other instances where I have to do it? (like Modum changes possibly?
Thoughts?

yeah plus one its been awhile but I might throw my in development (last time I was doing roms WM6.5 was the **** lol) Maybe I'll take android seriously this time

Does the Sprint GNexus come with an actual LTE SIM or an embedded one like I've been reading about?

+1 i love my gnex

+1 Please add

Take your back cover off. See anything? If it's embedded, that sucks. Not a deal breaker, but it sucks since Verizon uses them :/

Cyanogen Mod (rom) - same as the other GSII's?

So I've done the whole search thing, and XDA now offers a cool display of related threads when I start a new one...but I haven't found something related to Cyanogen Mod 7.1 for our variant of the GSII.
I hesitate to flash cyanogen because 1. it's not stable anymore (according to their forums), and 2. our model of the GSII is arguably not like any of the other GSII's because we have a different chipset.
Had anyone tried to flash cyanogen mod onto this phone or does someone know that it works?
Thanks in advanced!
10-22-2011 EDIT: So people don't need to sort through the clutter, the answer is no there isn't CM7.1 for the T-Mobile variant of the GSII and no one should attempt to flash the one from cyanogenmod's website for the GSII.
Thanks for answering my questions!
Cyanogen mod roms are built specifically for each device. Don't ever try to flash a build from another device. Even the ATT and International galaxy s2 have differently builds even though they're pretty much the same phone
Sent from my SGH-T989 using XDA App
I believe CM isn't even available for our phone yet. Only for the other SGS2 models.
Sent from my SGH-T989 using Tapatalk
DO NOT attempt to flash roms that were not specifically made for our devices! The ONLY roms that are safe for the TMO GS2 can be found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1332
Thanks for the information. I thought that would be the case.

None of the unlock solutions from the market work on our devices. If you are a T-Mobile customer, you can call in and request the unlock code, otherwise you can get it by faxing in your sales receipt. There is a good discussion of the topic here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=18643213

My statement was in reference to the GSII only. Users reported too many bugs...but again that's not for our GSII.
If you check their forum there is no more "stable mod" link to 7.1 for the GSII.
The mytouch4g should be fine.

I apologize to you if my question was naive. At least I didn't go posting in the developer forums.
The development seemed active enough for this device that I was considering there was a chance of availability. I'm also not rushing or demanding anything from the developers/developer community. I also give thanks and donate to them.
Other's have graciously answered my question, and to them I say THANKS.

Ok my wife is Done with her GN

Her phone will not stay connected on a call for more than 5 minutes at a time. It constantly goes into Airplane mode, and she randomly has data drops.
I've put her on AOKP 4, Liquid smooth & Android Rev HD 3.0, with Stock & Franco #2 milestone. NOTHING WORKS.
It sucks because I have no problems with mine, other than a bit of lag here and there (which may have been fixed with the Trinity Kernel).
So shes done. Already up and purchased an HTC one S. I really want her to stay in the GN but I think its just left a bad taste in her mouth.
I'm just really trying to figure out what the heck is wrong with her phone.
I haven't tried the newest 4.0.4 that was released a few days ago, but I honestly doubt its gonna do anything. Suggestions???
Stock anybody? All the way stock with ugla4 or uglc1 radio? Trying to force roms perpetually in progress is a bad idea and your desire to force customization on her left her with a bad phone.
teach a man to fish, you feed him for life. teach a man to fastboot, and you create competency. and less threads on xda.
It's probably defective, especially if you've tried the plethora of software options that people are likely to suggest. Careful buying things out of frustration, though, especially things that are brand new to the market. The One S is not immune to QC defects and such. For instace:
http://forums.androidcentral.com/ht...phones-one-day-does-htc-have-qc-problems.html
Get her GNex replaced. Or let her just go with the One S, I'm sure it's a solid phone. There are tradeoffs that she may or may not care about when one decides to use a non-Nexus phone. Just make sure she knows.
Why would you buy your wife a Galaxy Nexus and unlock it? I'm going to assume she's not Android savy or knows what you're doing, but seriously a bad idea just asking for trouble.
Just saying.
Also, that's a hard issue.
Let her keep the One S and keep it Stock. Its a good UX and won't break on her. Personally, I wouldn't recommend a Nexus phone to someone such as your wife.

He may have unlocked it just to try some different solutions to fix or alleviate the problems they were having.
But yeah, I think the more appropriate thing to have done is just take it back and get a new one. You paid for a working phone, don't ever hesitate to keep taking it back until you get one that works as it should!
I have heard that several people with that problem have had their GN replaced and fixed the problem. When I got mine, the verizon rep specifically told
me that if I had that problem to bring it back to get replaced. I think they had a bad batch of phones....

Ask Verizon Wireless why no JB update

I would like everyone who is interested in seeing an official build of Jellybean for the GNex sooner rather than later to ask them what the hold-up is on all of their social media. If we can pressure them nicely using a public forum, then we might see it before 2013. Just a thought.

On one hand it can't hurt, on the other it never seems to help either. I would advise to get on a custom ROM if you can't wait. That said, I have contacted them on all 3 social media sites already.
Edit: If you post on fb, you may get a reply like this..

Or maybe they aren't even testing a "OTA ROM" to even begin with. A company should have better communication to their customers with upcoming updates.
As a Verizon customer and been with them for years, I come to expect this.
and as a Nexus user, I don't care when Verizon releases it because there's plenty of custom ROMs for me.
I did say it would be probably September at the earliest before the Toro gets JB officially.
Well, I just installed Vicious 4.1.1 v1, and I no longer care. Best choice I've made all day Carry on!

The Verizon rep I just spoke to claims they have NOTHING to do with the update, that they come directly from Samsung and VZW doesn't touch it, test it, nothing. I don't believe that.
@adrynalyne can't wait to see what you can do with the Nexus 7.
Also, all I want is the jellybean radios. Sure jellybean would be nice, but the toro is aosp now so no need to really worry about that.

VZW doesn't 'touch' it. They test it, but never modify it. They send a change/fix request to Google.

Jelly Bean (yakjuux JRO03C) + new UGLH1 radio for Canadian devices

Hi,
I live in Canada and have my GN with Bell. I've been stuck on 4.0.1 since I got the phone; no updates were ever available.
Recently, I had to get my phone repaired and gave it in to the Samsung place here and when I got it back, it was updated to 4.1.1 (I attached a pic of the info)
I just wanted to ask you guys if all the info there looks good/correct. Also, not really sure how the tech managed to update it since nothing was ever available...
On another note, I was wondering if any of you could direct me to rooting methods (preferably on mac) / ways to change to yakju (also preferably on mac) on the version of the phone I have now... I searched and saw a bunch of different methods and whatnot, but I'm terrified to choose a potentially "wrong" one.
Thanks!
they must have updated it using Odin. is the IMEI the same or a different phone
I don't think I've ever seen that baseband before. I wonder if Samsung is actually close to releasing something for the Candian yakjuxx variant.

Before you change to yakju, would you mind dumping your radio, bootloader and ROM please? You have a new radio, so I'm sure lots of folks would like to try it out. And I'm sure lots of Canadians would like to try out your ROM as well.

[Q] Adobe Flash

Just wondering if anyone here has installed Adobe Flash. How does it perform? Is it worth it?
My flash ( in browser) doesn't seem to work at all and neither does my sister's. Hers is Verizon mine is AT&T.

Have you tried other browsers? Chrome won't work but Firefox should.

You do know that this is the Optimus G forum, right? For Sprint? You're posting from a Galaxy S III and you claim your sister has an Optimus G on Verizon, which doesn't exist.

newer phones arent coming with flash stock. so if you want flash you need to find the apk. if you arent smart enough to know where to get the flash apk you dont belong on this forum.

Someone has a temper today! Just posting a link isn't too hard, isn't that easier than being a ****?
First off, the OP never said they wanted the flash apk. They wanted to know how flash preformed on the Optimus G. All the other posters talked about it performing on other phones. I gave a little insight about flash not being on newer phones and that you would have to find the apk. Yes saying that if you don't know how to find it then you shouldn't be on here might have been harsh. But it sounds like your are a little butt hurt. It's ok. There is a thing called the search button that usually will provide anyone with a multitude of answers. I could provide a link but, couldn't you have done the same thing rather than coming on here and calling names? Or maybe it's because you yourself don't know how to find it.

If you aren't smart enough to know that asking the original question doesn't necessarily mean I don't know the apk can be found through a search, then you don't belong. ..anywhere
Yknow it is possible someone had gone through the trouble of installing the apk since this phone has been out longer on carriers other than Sprint.
Grow up, sheesh.
For all the grownups.
I installed and tested... and as usual - it works ok. I only really use it for one site anyway- tiltview.com

Trolls could have 1 post or 1 billion. Your post count is really not related to the quality of your posts. The thanks meter is a bit.
