Hello my nerds!
My question is simple, maybe a bit stupid but what'so'ever:
What's your opinion 'bout the device (HTC ONE X)? I'm going to upgrade my old htc desire with one after the Samsung S3 is released but an ugly piece of plastic-stuff.
Is this piece of HTC intelligence SEXY OR WHAT?
Cheers

since you are a recognized developer, and from HTC Desire just like me. COme on in. We love devs!
it is sexy and development is hot plus long term software support. stay away from Samsung.
JUST REMEMBER,
you interact with the screen the most
and the one x has got a hell of a good screen

The one x is the better choice believe me. Above everything else you should look at a manufacturers past performance. Samsung are woeful when it comes to releasing updates, whereas HTC keep dedicated teams on each model for two years and updates are regular.
Another reason is sense 4. It is the best android launcher ever.

I was going to buy the Galaxy S3... But I got to experience it two days ago and I hated it. The speed and the screen are okay... The interface is yucky though as well as the keyboard.

I heard something about nvidia tegra 3 update in this thread, is it real? will nvidia update drivers for tegra 3 in one x ? becouse now i think it is kind of lame, so much power and still has some lags in the glowing ball app which is made for tegra 3 ....
I upgraded from the Desire to the HOX & haven't regretted it once, when i saw the SGS3 i was glad i never waited.
The screen on the HOX is far superior & the HOX feels like a superior phone too, besides although the HOX had minor overheating until the first updates they weren't as bad as this.

I was initially a Gnex user. Never thought of s3 or HOX. HOX looks cool and awesome but I never want it cuz i want nexus anytime. S3 got announced n I thought it was meh.. Shortly after that, I my nexus had a mobo failure. Went for warranty and sold it. Got one x instead.

I am not sure how it happened. Checking some twitter, laying down on my bed. Then few minutes I can't turn it on ever again. The center said it was mobo replacement. Sold it cuz that time one x just released. I missed my nexus though, if I got any extra cash I would buy it back. But, I never regretted getting HOX.

Hello,
I am a relative newbie here and would really appreciate some help.
I live in India and I am planning to get the HTC One X NA Unlocked from USA to India via friend. I have the following few questions:
1. Is it better to get the HTC One S NA or the HTC One X NA. Reason I ask is, the international One S does not have the Krait processor.
2. In either case, if i get an unlocked phone here and use it with a general SIM, will I not be able to update it with any firmware/SW changes?
3. What happens to the warranty of an unlocked phone? I am guessing there will be limited/no warranty on the phone in India.
Thanks a lot for your help guys, please do reply!
Regards,
Anupam.
The choice of one s / one x is upto you. I would say one x as that's what I've got.
The warranty may well be void in India.
As for updates that depends on the provider. I would suggest putting a custom rom on it.

Why do you want to to this ?
Why not buy it from india ?
1. One X
2. Upon booting you'll only loose access to HTC HUB which I guess none care
3. You'll still b able to upgrade the device.
4. You'll loose the warranty.
Guess this helps

Cheaper in US. $500 around which is roughly 28 K v/s 38K in India currently.
International One S does have the Krait processor. If getting the One S get one with the S4 chip as you can also get ones with the S3 chip which is slightly slower than the S4.
Both are very good phones, if size is not an issue then get the One X. My sister has the HOS, it has better battery life, better music quality via headphones noticablely faster in day to day usage as the S4 is a great chip.
The international One X has tegra which is good for gaming. One X has the better screen, HD resolution.
You'd be happy with either phone.

So does this mean i can upgrade without a custom ROM? I am a little new to this and have never actually played around with my phone. Hence would like to know what is the best way without too many customizations.

Well, it's not really a surprise now, is it? HTC had to to something with a flagship that's now 6 months old. Seeing how Samsung is selling its Galaxy range like hotcakes and they keep churning out new models, HTC has to keep up.
I'm actually happy that they've kept the overall hardware setup similar to the One X. For us One X owners that should mean longer ongoing support, since there is no technical limitation for One X+ updates to be applied onto the One X. At least they're not launching a gazillion iterations of the same phone like they did in 2010 and 2011...
I must say the larger battery annoys me, though. But I take the One X's looks any day...
HI! I am from Singapore and i intend to buy HTC ONE XL. And does this phone have any wifi issues like the HTC ONE X.
I saw a video from youtube, it shows that HTC ONE XL has wifi death grip issues like the ONE X?
I came here to ask as HTC customer service is **** when i phoned them.
Ask in the One XL thread?

You should buy a Note II. Everybody should!
I did some research before when buying my HTC one x. I heard that htc one x is better with gaming with the better gpu and htc one xl got faster cpu.
Don't know how true this is. I have tried my brother in law one xl and found that camera is abit slower...

Thats because the HTC ONE XL is a dualcore phone and the HTC ONE X a quadcore phone !
HTC ONE XL is the AT&T, ROGERS forum
Hopes for htc ONE X to update :
Before questions could even kick off, HTC revealed in their Reddit AMA that — although they may not have the best track record when it comes to delivering timely Android software updates in the past — they’re hoping to change this image moving forward. How, you ask? Well, HTC has formally announced their new commitment to support all their future flagship devices with major updates for 2 years after they’ve been released.
Pretty bold words, considering HTC recently announced that the HTC One X and One X+ would no longer receive updates past Android 4.2.2 (which just rolled out last month, by the way). But according to HTC, it was a lack of support from NVIDIA that caused them to drop support for the global One X and One X+ (which ran the NVIDIA Tegra 3 chipset). So then what happened to the One X/XL in the US that uses a Qualcomm processor? Apparently, they didn’t feel like it would have been fair to only update X, while leaving the X+ users high and dry.
But, after much feedback from the One X community, HTC is now announcing that they’ve changed their tune, and are “actively exploring” how they can upgrade the HTC One X to Android 4.4 KitKat.
http://phandroid.com/2014/02/14/htc...s-for-2-years-exploring-kitkat-for-the-one-x/
Seriously?!? And, of course, they would only update the One X using the Qualcomm chipset, meaning the AT&T One X and the One XL? And leave the X+ completely out?
Sure, it would make some HTC One X users happy, but leave MOST of us ANGRY AS HELL.
I don't get it, why not pressure Nvidia to give support for their chipset? They did provide support for the Nexus variant, why not resurrect support for our version as well?
Well fingers crossed ,may be some glimmer of hope still .
So really we should be petitioning nvidia as well as htc

HTC promises to explore Kit Kat possibility for one X. But explicitly stated that is the North American version. Can we expect some love for the international version too...

That seems to be the right way to do it. Looks to me that Google already presured nVidia because the T30/T33 versions got 4.3/4.4 BSP and the AP33 didn't. Very strange since the architecture of those chips are almost the same. So nVidia has no reason not to release the same BSP sources for the AP33.
HTC should pressure them hard because theyve bought a lot of chips from nVidia and they cannot just cancel support after less than two years.
