Anyone is working on rooting 1.72 WITHOUT downgrade?
At least just clean root without s-off.
greets
Appearantly it is really wel secured since this ROM was released december and it is still not rooted. Best option so far is to downgrade and root. I haven't found any reference to a possible successful root of the 1.72 firmware. I am also unable to find any status/update on this subject...
If anyone knows more it would be appreciated!
u can do the g-free temp root/ s-off and fastboot load cwm and zing, no downgrade needed
how?
ps. obviously we are talkng about permament root

easy.
i do all this and the fastboot flash cwm, once u get S-off u can flash a recovery one, u just wont have root on stock rom. so u must flash a rom.

I recently received a replacement G2 with the 1.72 firmware(with wifi calling) so it had the Dec. update installed, and was able to root just as easily as I did back in Oct. Just follwed "blackprince310"'s method, and it worked like a charm.Again.

But did you make a downgrade?
wheeliest - you've flashed a new rom so it has the same disadvantages as downgrading.

I thought the only T-Mob G2 ROM versions were 1.19 and 1.21, both of which are rootable by the "usual" methods?

perhaps the replacement one came pre-ota-ed?
It had WiFi calling so it was definitely post ota.

Loosing the original rom? Which is good enough and needs only a few hacks.
Loosing all the settings and apps? Reinstalling 300 apps and setting them is the pain in the %$%.
Potentially dangerous process with goldcard?
So what for downgrading if one needs only the access to the system files and run some apps like adfree or dsp manager.
have you used cm7? because stock rom is garbage compared to it..
What has it so much better? (apart from new layouts and bacgrounds?)

everything about it, way more control over the phone, better performance, unlimited possibilities..
Don't want to be mean but:
CM7 Bugs/Not working/TODO:
Camera
Missing FM
Screen calibration support
First setup wizard restarts
and more:
just cant stand the download failures and the market failures.

To be able to flash official updates you will need the stock HTC recovery and not a custom recovery. Just google for it and you should find it. Although why would people bother with updates when there is so many custom roms to choose from I don't understand.

DoNot update a custom, rooted rom, wait for the dev of the rom you are using to update it. you could loose the option to rooting your phone again.

I believe he's using the stock rom which he rooted. Custom roms will not have official OTA update notifications I believe.

Custom RoMs do mate, well apart from the sense 3.5 that am using now. But my last sense 1 and 2.1 had OTA still in the RoM.

NOW... All i want is to root my phone again so that i can use Apps like CoreControl, Addfree etc.
Please tell me if I can root my phone again and how?

well, i don't think there is a stock JB root, you can unlock the bootloader then flash recovery and then flash a custom rom ... remember to do a nandroid backup before doing this
Thanks bro. I was looking for this answer on google and no had seem to do this... Full OTA and then root.
I think I would wait until someone makes a root method for Stock JB (OTA) on HTC One X
It's exactly the same process as with ICS. What's the problem?

Yes and please do not forget to backup the original JB rom before you root and put a custom rom .... so you can go back to stock at any time, there is no RUU available yet to get it back to stock at the moment.
Edit : sorry i just saw that matt also gave the hint to back it up
Nandroid is ur best friend when coming to installing any ROM. Don't forget it. It'll save a lot of time if any problem is encountered.

To be honest if you look here in the Q&A part of the forum you will see at least 8 posts with exactly the same question !
The art of reading is not to ask....
Well said!! This was just to find relevant reading material. If u could share few relevant links for htc__621.
Thanks

How to find a ruu is for every cid number the same process ! And this process has been covered millions of times in the Q&A.there are also clear guides in the dev thread under stickies. It should be mandatory to read them before continuing.
Don't know what else to say about it !
hi all... i have a big problem with my htc.... i've rooted my phone and i've put the blade 6.0 after that the audio stoped working... i can do calls and i can hear when others call me i can't hear music without my headphone and i'm a bit nervous... now i've tried putting the revolutionary hd rom but thing didn't changed.... can someone help me please? :crying: :crying:
Did you flash boot.img?
to be honest i quite don't remember if i did that... do you think it's that the problem?
thanks for replying
Yes of course it is the problem!!
Why would I have asked if it wasn't?
oh i'm ashamed right now.... well i'd like to install a new rom te revolution hd 19.2 with the boot img o.1 i've already have clockwork on my device.... what do i have to do first? do i have to flash the boot first and after that the rom with clockwork?
thanks for replying
The order does not matter.
one last question the ruu doesn't matter right? because i have cid : h3g_001
Wait what? Ruu?
Ruu is an utility to get you a stock rom so you probably don't want that.
As for the cid: does not matter provided that your hboot version is higher than 1.28.

Hello, I'm using a Samsung Galaxy S3 on Android 4.1.2. When I'm in my notifications screen, I can 'expand' my notifications by swiping down with two fingers on the notification. For example, if I received an email, I can see the full mail instead of just the sender in the notification screen.
And now back to the One X:
My friend, owning a HTC One X Android 4.0.3 and not able to upgrade his android, wants to have this too, since then he can view all incoming whatsapp messages without opening whatsapp.
Is there an app to do that? I've been google'ing for 3 hours and still don't have any result :/
Thanks

Expandable Notifications wasn't there when I was using Stock 4.1 (JB)... Only when I installed a custom 4.2.2 ROM, I could use it...
I don't think there's an app available to enable that feature... AFAIK!

The easiest solution would be upgrading to 4.1.1

There's this app which has advanced notifications. Not quite expandable, but similar. Haven't tried it myself though...
Explain why he can't update,we may be able to get him updated and kill 2 birds with 1 stone (not that I'd ever kill a bird)

He can't update, because after the (OTA) update is downloaded on his phone, it starts installing. But then the installing progress is being aborted suddenly and the phone just reboots.. So we just gave up trying to update and wanted to see if there is another way to get that.

That sounds as though something is stopping the update, was he rooted? Any custom ROM/Recovery etc? EVERYTHING needs to be pure stock for it to update correctly.

Theres your problem mate, an OTA will not work, if you're device isn't fully stock.
It checks your device before updating, the reason it'll reboot and the update won't complete, is because the update is trying to use things that aren't their (Stock recovery etc)
Your best bet, is to find an RUU and run it, so your all stock.
Then OTA until Fully Updated, then do whatever you wish

Good luck mate,
If RUU fails, find a NAND backup from :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1975140
Then do the update procedure.
Stock recovery can be found here:
