Modify build.prop for faster data speeds - Verizon Droid Incredible 2

I have been looking around and saw this is possible on many devices. But I never see much difference when I edit mine to the numbers shown. (Different numbers for different carriers)
So has anyone else tried? Here's what needs to be changed
ro.ril.hsdpa.category=28
ro.ril.hsupa.category=7
ro.ril.hsxpa=4
This is what mine is. What about you? Idk what changes actually boost data so I figured we could build this as a community

Well, is there lines in the build.prop fr cdma? And if so, would it really affect much?

Info on the GSM bands: http://www.gsmarena.com/htc_droid_incredible_2-3938.php
They're your standard GSM bands that are found on a lot of GSM phones, the HSDPA/HSUPA bands are the ones that are more important and vary based on carrier. Since the phone is pre-loaded with the Vodafone sim I'd venture to say HSDPA 900/2100 are Vodafone's 3G bands.

too bad too I was gunna try, my speeds are so low even on the new radio. Pandora takes a long time load which is pathetic...should I downgrade and go back to stock ruu and start there? I usually have to switch to evdo to get 3G, CDMA only gives me 1x, but 4 bars almost constantly

You could try zeppelinrox 3g turbocharger script. I've tried it and it seems to help some but its a bit of a battery drain. I can't guarantee it will help or make a noticeable improvement for you.

Those of you on AOKP/CM:
If you're experiencing slow/capped speeds while roaming PAY ATTENTION
As a default-- data roaming is set to "false" regardless of data while roaming (under wireless settings)
Download build.prop.Editor from the market here http://goo.gl/U373U
*Open app
*Allow SU
*Scroll ~3/4 down to ro.com.android.dataroaming
* Change from "false" to "true"
* IT MUST BE lowercase
* Report your findings, if it helped- hit the Thanks

Wondering if these speeds are normal on wind in Toronto area.

I ran a test last night after updating to radio UGLA4 and was getting close to 10 mbit down, 1 mbit up.
Before the update I was maxing out at about 5 mbit. I'm on Rogers, but the radio is still definitely worth a try.
No change. Thanks though
I think wind is capping me which is complete bs

That is completely abnormal. Ice tested 4 different wind Sims and all of them have been well under 2mbps with 3 of them barely breaching 1mbps and average of around 200kbps up. Tested in Mississauga and Toronto.
I'm with Mobilicity and while coverage is less than with wind I typically get about 2.3-2.5 mbps/300-600kbps up

Try a different tower, try a different server, etc...
You're testing the tower you're connected to, the server chosen, and your phone. In that order.
and for a quick fix you can also call wind and ask them to send your phone a refresh code. Tell them you're not getting any data to avoid answering questions about why its needed and theyll likely do it on the spot. (doesnt necessarily mean this will work)
Also what signal dbm/asu are you getting when youre dl'ing at 600kbps

That's a little low is that four bars? I've still pulled off 1mb plus speeds at that signal strength but I'm typically around -81/16.
You should do what another poster mentioned and test different towers, inside vs out etc. Its also possible that wind is throttling smart phones in an attempt to stimmy data usage but that's just complete speculation.
Outside of trying new radios, or complaining to wind there's not much you can do when it comes to data speeds...there may be some kind of optimization code I don't know about but again, speculation.
I'll say again though that every wind sim I've tested in the gta has had atrocious speeds

It's the Now or Later Network. If you actually have 10Mbps down WiMAX (which is about 5% of active WiMAX networks) you get things pretty fast. You still buffer YouTube for 10 seconds before it starts. Although on the highway about every OTHER tower in a WiMAX area you do a WiMAX-3G switch every 10 seconds.

The results you posted are consistent with my experience on Sprint in SE Michigan. I'm speaking past my knowledge here, but I believe the network hasn't been upgraded since the EVDO rollout some 5 or more years ago (aside from wimax of course (which is nearly non-existent in MI)). Now think of all the new smartphones and the demand on that old network.
I don't know that it has so much to do with wireless reception as it does the towers connection to the backbone and the demand on that connection. I get into some congested areas and have full signal but crawling data speed.
There's some speculation to ponder.

When I have hellish speeds I force roaming on the 11115 PRL. Whether or not it's immoral or that its a breach of contract, I think its justified given the fact that I was in Ashburn Virginia a few weeks ago and had a ping to Ashburn of something like 783. The speeds were pathetic as well, but forcing roaming brought both speeds and pings up to expected values. Good thing we know that Verizon can keep good connections.
That's some advice. There are some threads about loading the 11115 PRL which allows one to roam on Verizon's faster EVDO network. It's one of the more difficult mods I've done but the process is well documented.
Here I go talking outside my knowledge again. I believe that Sprint has to pay Verizon for the use of that roaming arrangement and they don't appreciate abusers. There have been posts about nasty grams and contract termination.

Sprint's coverage map says we're blanketed in LTE coverage. I wonder what's going on. And shouldn't 3G work if it can't find an LTE connection?
Sent from my SPH-L710 using xda premium
3g does work but it is a little annoying because it seems to take up to 15 secs to reconnect to 3g after disconnecting from 4g.
On a sidenote I was in a sprint store today. The Htc evo lte had 4g with 4 bars. I put my s3 in airport mode and back to see if it would connect to 4g but it still went to 3g. I did not have time to test the data connection on the evo.

MMS using the stock app is broken, use a third party app like GoSMS
1. Try everything you can, find solutions for yourself. Wipe caches, revert all your settings you have made, go back to your stock Kernel, factory reset if you have to or reflash the rom. Assume that the issue is on your side and try your best to isolate it.
2. Search this thread for possible reoccurences of your issue and hopefully solutions that may have come up.
3. If you think the issue is important enough that we should cease our work and look into it, post your issue, BUT
... stay friendly, do not demand anything, do not threaten
... explain your issue as precise as you can, name the exact apps and conditions that cause trouble, help us to replicate the issue right away. If we can't there's no way we can fix it and your post will simply clutter the thread
... collect evidence, keep in mind this is a developer thread so even if you are not one, do us the favor and research how to record logcat. logcat is the single most important help you can give us to resolve your issue.

Those screenies are from an actual NS4G?! Status bar at the bottom and font/button sizes look like a N7. Looks really cool, especially the menus.
Thread cleaned.
I don't care who made the first port, or why, XDA is about development and sharing not fame or anything else.

No the OP will get some actual Nexus S 4G screenshots to post up! Those screenshots are from the HTC EVO4G but should look exactly the same as is the same ROM
@veyka.....Thanks for cleaning up the thread
The rom is great I love the way it runs and the bugs that we have so far don't effect me at all. The only trouble I have is with the tethering. I live less than a mile from a data tower so my signal is always maxed. When I connect to tethering my signal switches to 3G and my signal becomes cut. The bars go and stay gray and no signal whatsoever. I have tried this a few times and have wiped everything and still no luck. I am at work now and the exact same thing here. Not sure if I am alone on this one but I am going to wipe a few more times and reinstall and see if this helps at all. Other than this I like the work done here and appreciate it a lot. I will report back if I get any changes. Any suggestions that would be cool but I am sure your all working on this already. Thanks again

Been trying ALL JB ROMs here and have same issues tethering 4g. I only find 4g tethering works via BT using Foxfi app. I'm pretty sure its the only work around right now on all JB ROMs.
BTW: love me some Paranoid! This may be my new daily. Team DIRT did it again

Any way to disable the navigation keys? I can't seem to find the option for it in settings>system where it'd normally be.

Disable DC-HSDPA & H+?

Hi guys
I have the LTE version of the phone, and I am just wondering if there is any way to disable these two modes? I realise that they are both faster than traditional HSDPA but I'm finding that the connection is quite patchy in certain places when using this, and when used with my HTC One S (which is normal HSDPA), the signal is much more consistent and, for instance, I can watch TV on it without and freezes.
Is there a quick way to toggle this when need be?
Thanks

just set your phone on WCDMA mode only that's 3G only or GSM/WCDMA is also better as not all places will have constant 3G

That still uses DC and H+ though. Also, my network does not have 2G so I need to keep it on 3G all the time anyway.
well I'm not very familiar with 4G encoding techniques but I know there are very similar to WCDMA apart from the larger bandwidth in their frequency band. yes H+ is 3G and HSDPA is 3G abit slower than H+ however I'm not sure about DC-HSDPA probably could be related to 4G ...I'm not really sure..maybe if I ask you when running only on WCDMA (3G) does the DC-HSDPA show up as well??

But I have done all this and there is no way to just disable DC or H+ within the mobile network settings.
It requires another method.

have you tried maybe another operators SIM card which supports 4G? or a different SIM card from the same operator? so you narrow down the issue to only your handset?
Sent from my GT-N7105 using Tapatalk 4
Only one network supports 4G in the UK atm, and no one I know has it. Mine will upgrade to 4G at no extra cost in a couple months or so and this might help the stability of my Internet.
It's definately not an issue with my sim card though. The problem is the phone ramping up to DC when it can maintain a more stable connection on H+.

EDIT: THIS POST IS WRONG
There's no way to do this, no.
How can you tell it's switching to DC? There's no easy way I know of to tell, H+ doesn't necessarily mean DC either.
I've a N7105 as well, the only way I know if a cell is capable of DC is looking at one of the radio debug screens, which get to with *#0011#

My radio displays DC when connected to it.

Well, there you go, I've learnt something new, thanks.
My discussions with a number of technical people who work at my carrier (I'm in New Zealand) led me to believe this isn't supported. I'm wondering now if it actually is supported but disabled in the ROM my carrier issues.
Out of interest, are you using a stock ROM?
Thanks for sharing though, I've updated my original post.

Hello
Yep it's stock. One of the recent French onew ending DMG1. This is the first time it displays DC, which I think is due to the radio this uses. With all my previous roms I never got this even though I was definately connected to DC.
