Anyone notice the quiet volume on notifications, alarms, and ringtones on alpha 3? Is there a fix out there for this? It just seems so quiet.
I guess no one else has soft volume issues. I just find it very noticeable

I haven't had an issue with alpha two or three. Haven't noticed a volume problem personally, but I rarely use ringtones or notification sounds.

Why do you say its the devil? Have you had other problems?

I have noticed many people referring to various ics roms as evil simply because they have heard a couple horror stories of bricked phones while flashing.
The fact is, even a relatively inexperienced but careful and intelligent person can successfully flash and use an ics from with little risk.
I am fairly new to phones, but have a lot of experience in Linux and other computer areas and had no problem with cm9. Other than battery that is.
Also keep in mind that cm9 is an alpha, meaning not yet complete release.

My phone will not vibrate for a phone call or notification in any mode other than vibrate/silent mode. Anyone else having this issue? also, even with vibration intensity set to maximum, it is extremely low compared to the way it was with Gingerbread. It would really help if you guys tell me what you're experiencing so that I know if its my physical phone, or just the ics builds fault. Thanks.
Yeah same here

it will be fixed in the final build
Is this the only bugs from this rom update or is there anymore. Reason for asking i'm looking for a good rom to install on my E4GT that i just bought. I can dealwith no vibrate never use it anyways.
Am I the only one who can't set contact photos.? Ever since I flashed everything works besides that

There are a few other bugs, but there is a detailed fb17 bug list thread you can check out.

Haven't tried. I already had contact photos set up before, and they just carried over without any extra effort. The same should've happened for you.

To the vibrating issue... I use vibrate all of the time and went from fb17 to fb21 to blends fb21 hoping there was a fix for this and the other issues. The vib issue was there with every one of them. I ended up being weak and went back to GB. But I did read in the galaxy 2 threads that some people tried sound manager app and that worked. Didn't know if anyone on an ICS rom wanted to try that out on our e4gt's.

More thanks for mentioning Sound manager, e92dream. That worked and resolved the biggest problem I've had with FB21 so far. Yes, GPS is finnicky and there are a few other issues, but they're all avoidable. That one was the biggest impact.

Well if feeling the vibration is very important to you, I wouldn't go back just yet, because the intensity is extremely weak compared to the way it originally was.

Yeah. I'm on Calkulin's 2.9.1 & definitely missed this ROM. It's very stable for my daily uses. Can't wait til he has a custom ICS rom. Anyways, did sound manager with the volume at all? I didn't mention it but my volume didn't seem as loud either.

No problem. The vibration/sound and SMS/mms issues were killing me but I found a work around for the messaging. I'm not familiar with system and script editing so I had no clue how to tackle the vib/sound issue. Every app I tried said the system vibration was disabled so I gave up.

I am getting awesome battery life and everything is stable and no restarts. Is it worth the upgrade to alpha 3? Just wondering as some people have been posting bad battery life.

I decided not to upgrade to alpha 3. Alpha2 works very well for me.
New is always better but not so sure in this case. Stay
Sent from my HTC HD2 using Tapatalk 2
I see no reason not to. I've heard issues with random resets or Sleep of Death with A3, but I was getting that with A2.
I really want to, but don't feel like going through all the trouble. I had to go through hell to get GPS working with alpha 2, and I don't feel like having something go wrong again. I will update when there are major advantages, or when they begin including an easy to use CWM style recovery (I understand why they don't include it). I long for the day when I can boot into recovery and update CM9 with one step, like we did with every other rom.
You should upgrade alpha 3 fixes many bugs and includes more features also. Just don't wipe data and all your settings won't change.

I'm loving it.. Solid! Aplaha 3 for me
Go for it
I went for it. Upgrade was super easy and lost no settings. The install guide states that you do not have to wipe anything for a straight CM9 Update. I had terrible battery life on alpha 2 and it seems to be getting better now that I switched to 3.
Is there a step by step in just updating instead of going back to gingerbread im new at this. Sorry for my noobness.

You don't need to flash gingerbread entirely. Just Odin the el26 kernel long enough to get to recovery, then flash alpha 3.

In my opinion i had flashed both Alpha2 and alpha3 both the same both battery for me is a tad different, alpha3 battery drains alittle faster

Lol, I don't think that switching carriers will fix that bug. It's most likely a bug on numerous Samsung devices.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using Xparent ICS Tapatalk 2
Im running FF11 and have had the same issue the last couple of builds, i noticed it after FE21. i was starting to think my E4GT was having a hardware problem. Glad to hear im not the only one who's having this issue.
I started having the issue on custom ICS Roms. Tried several roms and stock unrooted to fix it and eventually sprint swapped out my device because I couldn't fix it on my own. Picked up my replacement two days ago. Currently running stock unrooted FH13 and still having the issue. Surely Samsung is aware and working on a fix for this... Time will tell. If anyone has found a fix for it please post it. Thanks!
Are you referring to the hardware buttons? (i.e menu, home, back, and search?)
Ya, mine do not respond every so often. It started happening once I was flashing custom ROM's for ICS and JB. I don't believe there to be a fix out for that right now.. I just put up with it considering it doesn't happen THAT often.
My question is... which rom is best on this device? Maybe asking for too much but anything close to s3 and note 2 like rom would be sweet. I have an i777 on shostock3 and that rom is beast.
Sent from my SGH-I777 using Tapatalk 2
You inherited a damn good phone lol. The recently released jellybean leaks like FK23, FL04, and FL16 offer a close experience to that of the Galaxy S3. The home screen and notification bars are nearly the same and many features are carried over to our device as well. You have some interesting motion features to try out as well.
Honestly you can't go wrong with any. All the devs put a lot of hard work into their roms, and it shows. My personal favorite for ics is blu Kuban. As of right now I am running fk23, and have been since it's release.

Before this goes downhill...
Congrats on getting this phone:thumbup:
Now as far as best ROMs. There is no such thing as a "best" ROM. Every user has its own preference based on whether he is a power user or a casual user, whether he is into themed ROMs or ROMs with stock feel, etc.
So you are just going to have to look in dev forums, read user posts, read OPs and then decide.
I can say so and so ROM is better but thats for my taste. You are not me. And some devs may not feel good that I left out their ROM.
So take this advise and happy flashing!

Hey guys, I've noticed that pretty much all of the new Jellybean ROMS do not have the sound quality or LOUDNESS that
previous ICS ROMS had. The way I know is that I have no radio in my Jeep so I use my phone and a portable speaker.
I can barely hear it now with these Jellybean ROMS. When I was on ICS, the sound was LOUD. We good enough to hear Howard Stern speaking
when in my car. Now I can barely hear him.
Is there any fix for this or something I can do to boost the audio louder? An app of some sort?
Let me know. This will be awesome to hear some suggestions! Thanks!

Thanks guys that is definatly true. I do have mostly AOKP and CM roms so I will test the Touch Wiz ones.
So I checked the market for Volume Plus and Volume +... I downloaded Volume Plus (volume control) by PolyForze Design but I dont think this is what you are talking about. It already shows my volume is at 100%. I do see Volume+ (Volume Boost) by Meltus for $1.99. Is that what you are referring to? You did say free though. There is also Volume Control + by Coffeebreak Apps (free). Not sure if I am seeing what you have. Can you verify the creator? Thanks!
He is talking about Volume+ v2 alpha by androidaudiohacks at androidaudiohacks.com
When you use it you cannot use DSP manager or similar app with it at the same time. You have to choose one or the other. v2 does have a lot more features than v1 had, but when you turn it up to a certain point the sound gets distorted.
