Hey guys, I've noticed that pretty much all of the new Jellybean ROMS do not have the sound quality or LOUDNESS that
previous ICS ROMS had. The way I know is that I have no radio in my Jeep so I use my phone and a portable speaker.
I can barely hear it now with these Jellybean ROMS. When I was on ICS, the sound was LOUD. We good enough to hear Howard Stern speaking
when in my car. Now I can barely hear him.
Is there any fix for this or something I can do to boost the audio louder? An app of some sort?
Let me know. This will be awesome to hear some suggestions! Thanks!
You must be referring to the cm or aokp roms. I have not encountered or heard of this problem on the touchwiz jb roms. To solve your problem install one of touchwiz roms.

Thanks guys that is definatly true. I do have mostly AOKP and CM roms so I will test the Touch Wiz ones.
So I checked the market for Volume Plus and Volume +... I downloaded Volume Plus (volume control) by PolyForze Design but I dont think this is what you are talking about. It already shows my volume is at 100%. I do see Volume+ (Volume Boost) by Meltus for $1.99. Is that what you are referring to? You did say free though. There is also Volume Control + by Coffeebreak Apps (free). Not sure if I am seeing what you have. Can you verify the creator? Thanks!
He is talking about Volume+ v2 alpha by androidaudiohacks at androidaudiohacks.com
When you use it you cannot use DSP manager or similar app with it at the same time. You have to choose one or the other. v2 does have a lot more features than v1 had, but when you turn it up to a certain point the sound gets distorted.

Anyone notice the quiet volume on notifications, alarms, and ringtones on alpha 3? Is there a fix out there for this? It just seems so quiet.
I guess no one else has soft volume issues. I just find it very noticeable

I haven't had an issue with alpha two or three. Haven't noticed a volume problem personally, but I rarely use ringtones or notification sounds.

Why do you say its the devil? Have you had other problems?

I have noticed many people referring to various ics roms as evil simply because they have heard a couple horror stories of bricked phones while flashing.
The fact is, even a relatively inexperienced but careful and intelligent person can successfully flash and use an ics from with little risk.
I am fairly new to phones, but have a lot of experience in Linux and other computer areas and had no problem with cm9. Other than battery that is.
Also keep in mind that cm9 is an alpha, meaning not yet complete release.

Hello Everyone, I was wondering if T-mobile has a volume mod such as the one listed here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1722136&page=5
I tried installing that but it didn't work. I'm guessing because that thread is for the international version of the phone. Does anyone know if there is a USA mod or another way to increase the volume? I've searched and couldn't find anything about it. I would have thought someone would have asked this question already.
Check out Volume+ in the play store.

I looked it up and I'm going to give it a shot, is there anyway to adjust the hardware volume though? Will a mod or a custom rom do it?
Thebpp I suggested works wonders. You don't need anything else.

The only problem is that I might be installing a Jelly bean custom rom and the program says its not compatible.
Nothing works for Jellybean yet. At least not for system sounds. I have a gnex. Believe me I've searched.

Ok maybe I'll hold off on doing a custom rom for now. I hate missing my notifications and need the increase in volume. I guess it is only a matter of time before someone figures it out. My old t=mobile vibrant sucked but the one thing it did let me do was just type in a code and increase the volume through the menu. If only it were that easy on this phone.
I actually find this phone louder than my old galaxy S. Either way, Volume+ will definitely work for ics.

Also interested.
I too am very interested in the volume hack mod like the one in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1722136 for this US T-Mobile variant. Before the JB update I tried volume+ and was not really impressed. While it did make the phone louder, it came at the expense of sound quality. This is mainly because the app is basically just turning up the various bands on an equalizer all at the same time.
Shame that the international version gets all the attention but I guess I can understand why since there are more of them around.

i did do some reading...thanks for your suggestion and reply.
My question is... which rom is best on this device? Maybe asking for too much but anything close to s3 and note 2 like rom would be sweet. I have an i777 on shostock3 and that rom is beast.

You inherited a damn good phone lol. The recently released jellybean leaks like FK23, FL04, and FL16 offer a close experience to that of the Galaxy S3. The home screen and notification bars are nearly the same and many features are carried over to our device as well. You have some interesting motion features to try out as well.
Honestly you can't go wrong with any. All the devs put a lot of hard work into their roms, and it shows. My personal favorite for ics is blu Kuban. As of right now I am running fk23, and have been since it's release.

Before this goes downhill...
Congrats on getting this phone:thumbup:
Now as far as best ROMs. There is no such thing as a "best" ROM. Every user has its own preference based on whether he is a power user or a casual user, whether he is into themed ROMs or ROMs with stock feel, etc.
So you are just going to have to look in dev forums, read user posts, read OPs and then decide.
I can say so and so ROM is better but thats for my taste. You are not me. And some devs may not feel good that I left out their ROM.
So take this advise and happy flashing!

I need a kernel with a sound mod. The GN2 sounds awful. Sounds worse than my previous i717 AT&T Note...
One of the biggest gripes with this phone is the awful sound. I keep my Infuse around to listen to music because it just sounds so much better.
Any help is very appreciated :good:

I was in the same boat as you. Here is a mod that I just made for Perseus Kernel v33.4 for our device. This will add voodoo support and the voodoo app to your device. It might work with v34, but Im not sure if that has the correct patch's for voodoo.
Don't forget thanks
Flash in recovery.
Do you have it modded to Perseus 35? This file is a patch or is it kernel with patch together?
