[Q] Recover apps stored in SD card - Bada Software and Hacking General

Hi,
I updated my Wave from bada 1.2 to bada 2.0. I didn't take backup of my phone and now I have no apps/games from bada 1.2. When I connect the phone in mass storage mode, I see that all the games files are still present.
Is there a way to recover these apps/games? I can get back those apps which are still available on samsungapps, but some old games (like NFS Shift, kroll, bruce lee) are not available any more.
Any clues?

In "theory" now an PC Tool is available to sign as "Sample"...
No idea if most of "old" bada 1.x apps are compatible with bada 2.0 Firmware...
Limitation... 1 app with 1 Cert...
Best Regards

Acess to Bada's internal memory through Badadroid Massive Storage mode.

I have installed pre-Alpha version of Android on my Wave. I was touching the different options and trying to install Angry Birds among other apps. I plugged my Wave (in Android mode) to USB port. Android says that charging will be disabled due to warm or cold battery bla bla bla, etc, I click accept and I set the "Massive Storage" option. What's the matter? A window hit my Windows screen and I open the storage card... Ok, card isn't SD card, is Bada internal Memory. I have to clarify that when you unplug the usb cable and go to My archives in Android, the SD card that Android recognises isn't the SD one (external memory). Instead of that, it mounts Wave internal memory (Bada memory), with their folders and config files (like CSC, etc). When you reboot Android, everything becomes normal, and the system mounts SD card (unless you go to massive storage mode again). Here some photos:

I don't know in what can it helps. I figure that this makes OS customizing more flexible and easy. Neither do I know if this help to the port.
Please, guys (Rebellos, Nbates, ShadowAS, Adfree, etc) take a look and post your impressions if you see this useful.
Regards!
Not very useful for Android porting, but if these are writable, may be useful for bada modders.

I din't try to delete any file, but you can create folders and paste files. Then, i sure you can modify all the files.
those aren't bada internal files for sure
i saw them before and think they are for Android also
i know all bada internal files after doing a lot of modeing on the Arabic firmwares

I can move through CSC files of each region, stock wallpapers, on & off sound, etc... All the files you can modify within Stune. You can delete them, or create a new one. And I am speaking about Bada internal memory, I don't know if are all the files (i doubt it).
open your phone with Stune and compare and see the difference

It can be less, but they are Bada files, I'm sure because i have change a stock wallpaper to see if they are true Bada files. Tomorrow maybe i will take an in depth looking.

i have already noted that the moviNAND partitions are easily mounted when running the android kernel

When you connect the Samsung Wave to the PC (in Bada mode), you can see a 4xx MB internal memory. When you do it through Android, you see +/- 500 mb. Almost 100 MB of difference. These 100 MB are from internal files like wallpapers, boot sounds, boot screen, CSC, etc. Are those 100 MB part of the RAM which Bada uses to load? That is to say, you have spoken in other threads about 384 MB of Samsung Wave which 1xx MB are used by Bada. Are those THAT files? Can you get access to that memory partition deleting the files inside and anchoring it to Android? Yes, it's a personal paranoia. I don't know so much about Samsung Wave file system, i have read some about it, but I don't know almost anything. I just want to help, squeezing my brain a little

@ lanluckez
Thank you for posting.
Not tested by me, not confirmed yet.
But access to files/memory in several different ways are very cool in my opinion.
I'm missing complete dump function of moviNAND and RAM(s) and OneNAND.
I have ever hoped over FOTA that someone managed memorydump functions...
I'll try to inform other users, that maybe someone can confirm better your way...
maybe some files under bada hidden and now better visible...

Backup Apps in 1.2 before moving to Bada 2.0 (S8530 only)

Hi ....
There is a way to backup all your apps and games in 1.2 ver
and than to use them in bada 2.0
1. You need to flash phone with:
S8530XXKF1 ## 1.2 2011 June S8530OXDJK8 Czech Republic
http://www.hotfile.com/dl/134701893/9f3c16d/S8530XXKF1_S8530OXDJK8_XEZ.zip.html
password - samifirmware.com
please note that it isnt a full firmware - in multiloader you will have to choose PFS instead of Factory Fs
2. Change the CSC of the phone to XEH - than the phone will be restarted
*#272*HhMn# (HhMn- the exact time of your phone in 4 digts -example 1509)
3. Install all your Apps & Games -------- Only to the Internal Memory of your phone - Not to the SD card -------------------------
4. Connect your phone to Kies and than Kies will notify you that there is a firmware
to S8530XXKL6/S8530OXDKL2 (XEH)
5. Proceed with the firmware upgrade process .
after the firmware upgrade process will end - you will see that you are still in bada 1.2 but now you will have the option to backup
all your apps and games ( again only from the internal memory) , do the backup process
6. If you like than Kies will notify to complete the firmware upgrade to bada 2.0
7. After the firmware upgrade process will , you will have bada 2.0 and you will the option to restore all your apps and games
and use them in bada 2.0
Hi smarty99,
This is really interesting.
I will try in on my phone, but I'm just wondering if you
know what firmware I should use with s8500?
Thanks in advance
Best Regards,
Nasko
Thanks for share
i used it before for upgrading my wave 1 to bada 2.0 Poland OXE
3. Install all your Apps & Games -------- Only to the Internal Memory of your phone - Not to the SD card -------------------------
Click to collapse
why not in SD card?
i install apps in my SD card and backup and restore normal
..........................
* not all apps working on bada 2.0
* all apps that you backup will restored on phone memory
(so dont backup more for you be able to have free space on your device )
total space of application memory is 869 MB
You can't install in the SD card ...
because when you do the firmware upgrade process via kies
kies let you backup only the apps in internal memory and not from the SD
I know that there is a problem of memory but i think that it is better than nothing
thank you mate

[TOOL] - [UPDATED 12/2/2012] - Xbox Live Data Backup v0.02!

This app will allow you to backup some of your xbox live game data to your pc. Currently it only saves 3 xbox games, it can backup and recover. It uses ISETOOL.exe which comes with the microsoft windows phone sdk. I need more Product GUIDS and names of games if you want more added. This only backups up your high scores and saved progress in games.
Current Games Supported:
Angry Birds
Plants Vs. Zombies
Need for Speed: Undercover
Zune must be running and phone cant be pin locked.
THis is running on a HTC HD7 running a custom rom, intrinsic 5.02. Im not sure if this will work on a stock phone or not.
Running backup over an existing saved game will overwrite it wit and update. Enjoy and let me know if you guys want more games, or how it workS!
The basic idea is valid, but stock ROMs can't use it. The Mango version of TouchXperience (which is what WPDM uses to browse your phone) is low-privilege and can only see a limited part of the filesystem.
It does work. but yes, it'll only work on custom roms and with wpdm, because you need it to save the files to your PC and then restore them after the rom flash.
Sent from my HD7 using XDA Windows Phone 7 App
Hi,
you should add "only for custom roms" to the title
it did not work with me ..
My phone is chevron unlocked
Even possible for not custom roms...
Hi Community,
I yesterday mentioned to open a thread today, desribing
how to backup your savegames, but you where a bit earlyier .
But I found out, how it works with every interop-unlocked
device (samsung and htc) and even with non custom-roms. You have
to download Windows phone Power Tools
http://wptools.codeplex.com/
which allows you to read and write apps isolated storage
(but only from sideloaded homebrew apps) and
wp root tools 0.8 by [email protected] Also you have to download or
sideload and homebrew app, for exapmple MPA Tool, (which is also an useful app ).
I you dont want this, you can choose any other homebrew application
on your phone and find out its installation path.
Now, if you have wp power tools and wp root tools "by heathcliff"
there are two steps to go:
1. (wp root tools)
you have to navigate to the path of the game (f.e. angry birds)
Applications/Data/E4571A02-0B87.../Data/Isolated Storage
and copy the two files (for other games it can be more than two)
in the isolated storage of your choosen homebrew app (e.g. MPA TOOL).
Applications/Data/7AC990A5-7092....../angry birds
(I created folders in this path to hold it clear...)
http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/191/screencapture11a.jpg/
2. windows phone power tools
When this is done connect your phone with zune and run wp power
tools. Under "file browser" you can open the isolated storage of MPA
Tool (or any other homebrew app) and copy the files from the
games to your computer.
http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/819/powertools.png/
After flasing a new ROM just revert the hole progress...
Malte1234511
PS: I attached a list with the installation paths of many applications,
so its easier for you to find the path...
@Malte1234511: That's only going to work for Samsung gen1 phones. Non-Samsung or even Samsung gen2 phones can't use WP7 Root Tools.
TouchXplorer used to work, but now it onlyworks for very old firmware or custom ROM (after an HTC update disabled it).

We want to backup the data from our original Xbox live games. The tool is useful (thanks to winphoneviet) for for some applications, but not for games from the marketplace.

wpdm and touchexpierence work fine on my HTC hd7 with the custom rom. With touchexpierences file browser I can search through all the apps and games dir just fine. And wpdm can copy the game files from my PC and back to my phone just fine too.

wpv backup does your whole phone. This way only backs up the game data, but you need to be on a custom rom.

[Serious Bugs] Android 4.4.2 Galaxy Note 2

Hello, folks
Recently I upgraded to Android Kitkat 4.4.2 (Indian Version) on my Samsung Galaxy Note II, I have come across a serious BUG after upgrading to Android 4.4.2.
BUG Details: Memory card cannot be read internally
For Instance while connected to Winscp via SSHDroid new folder cannot be created in Memory Card but at the same time new folder can be created in Phone Memory
I guess writing has been restricted
It's not over..... While downloading videos via YouTube Downloader 4.2 (Dentex) when custom folder chosen to memory card downloading gets failed
Again I guess writing has been restricted
I tried 3-4 different memory cards guessing problem might be in memory card (formatted as well)
Flashed my Note II via Hard Reset
Tried all ways and I have come to conclusion the BUG is in Android 4.4.2 Kitkat (Indian Version)
Kindly share if you have encountered same BUG as well (Specially Indian Consumers)
Regards,
Note II

It's not a bug, it is included in the Kitkat update for security purposes.
There is a fix for that but you have to be rooted.

What rom are you using?
You can simply transfer your files using a comupter...
Then paste it to your memory card..
That's what I did when I'm on Stock Kitkat ROM...
If you want to apply the SD Card fixed root your phone first.

They did what. You can't copy from internal to external memory. Omg i see no 4.4 on my device.
Edit : ok i understand now.

you can copy or move anything with stock file manager My Files..only third party application has no permission to write.
xplore file manager can handle files in sd card too...
Google chose to block write access, for third party apps (those not pre-installed), to external storage; except in their own directories.
There is currently a loophole which some developers have updated their apps to use, but with future iterations of android this will likely be blocked.
This change has been primarily to keep the sdcard clean; un-installing third party apps had left orphaned files the sdcard and resulted in a poor user experience. Personally I'm not sure how viable an explanation this is when you weigh it up against the affect to the user experience of preventing 3rd.P apps from accessing anything outside of their own granted space, or the space granted to a partner app. I think this is either google being evil, trying to lower the value of an sdcard slot to drive OEMs to make devices without one (for various profitable purposes) OR because google goofed on their first time really deciding what access they should have (previously there was no formal access rights definition, it was a free-for-all.)
Hold this space
You can install my apks from play store to back up apk in external card and quick office for editing and saving dox in external card without rooting from play store..enjoy

you are right, writing of sdcard has been restricted in android 4.4.2

The easiest solution is getting root access and using the sdfix app; reverting is overkill if you just want 3p rw access back.
