What kind of download speeds are you seeing on T-Mobile USA 3G network?
I have TP2 with the recent Tmobile 6.5 ROM installed(Build 21881.5.0.84), using the HTC Wifi Router program to tether to my laptop. I'm located in San Diego CA.
the best i can get through Speedtest.net is about .95Mbps. I thought T-Mobile is supposed to be up to 7Mbps now???
btw...mobilespeedtest.net is very inaccurate...it says im getting 10Mbps ha! yeah right!
It varies in the 1-2 Mbits/s region for me. But it's OK for phone usage.

I'm getting the same thing.
Actually, the 7.2Mbps before Christmas was T-Mo's goal. It seems they're only putting up some upgraded towers now (there's a thread about the new 3G --> H symbol flickering since we all used to only get the "H" here in the USA).

Just because they started their HSDPA coverage in Philly!
So how fast is the web browsing for you? I'm guessing it takes one second to completely load up a page?

I've found that Internet speeds are more apparent when the phone is used to tether a laptop. The page rendering speed can be limited by the speed of the processor in the device. I was surprised how fast the data speed really was the first time I tethered my laptop, since the laptop processor is so much faster and so the page-rendering isn't limiting.
This isn't quatitative...and I'm sure someone else knows at what data speed and processor speed each component becomes most-limiting.
Go to www.speedtest.net while your computer is tethered and post your results.

I hate tech support calls, I have no patience for those calls because I'm above them technically in so many ways (not to sound conceited, but I work in IT for a living, and I'm high up the chain).
What type of network speed is this thing supposed to get on Sprint? On average, I'm not getting any faster than 5mbit.
I'm lucky if I ever get over 1mbit here in Orange County. Usually get 0.5mbps here. Only in off hours do I ever go over that, so I know it's not even my reception. Just their crap network. Freaking sprint...

Depends on your area. I don't have 4g and my 3g sucks as well. I get around 200-400 kbps. Luckily I use my wifi.

I'm right outside Baltimore. 4G bounces up and down all the time, it's pretty bad.
I don't have 4G in my area, but my 3G speeds are posted in my sig. Anywhere from 1.5 to 2.3 usually.

Yeah, that's what I get on 4G a lot of times.
The problem seems to be at home, at work is pretty quick. At home I'm getting 2mbit. How do I approach Sprint support with this issue? I am tired of the stupid "turn your phone on and off" troubleshooting.
I think your fighting a losing battle because its probably not the phone as much as it is the network. Guess we will find out what the plans are at the big event coming up
Not sure if this will work for you but i went here and it actually boosted my 3g by over 400+ kbps. now i normally pull about 1.5 Mbps

Nice. Let's hope they actually fix their 4G coverage and increase speeds. This phone can handle some insane speeds, faster than my 35/35 Fios connection.
Well I finally got tech support after my cell service dropping over and over again, and they're saying my phone is having issues. 4G stays connected but instead of bars, I get a circle with a line through it, and it says "searching for service." This HAS to be a Sprint issue...
WTF.. did a speed test and am disgusted. what good does it do to have unlimited data if its not good enough to do anything but browse the web. is there anything i can do to speed this up?
Are you rooted? If so you can run a script called 3g Turbocharger. It works for some people. Just do a google search and you'll learn all about it. You could also try an application called Internet Booster you can download from the Google Play Store

That's why sprint is cheap. They don't invest in their network which is why I dumped them. That's just the kind of service you get unless you are in a large city like los Angeles or such. I agree, it is very disgusting

Well he may not be getting 25 Mbps down and 3 Mbps up consistently (those numbers are admittedly rare for me) if at all and/or is just a bit eager to experience LTE. I know I'm a bit curious to experience LTE myself although I can wait. Where in NYC are you getting those numbers? I rarely see 20 Mbps down here in Queens.

As a recent Sprint to T-Mobile switch, I really do not see the huge need for LTE. On Sprint, things were horrible. It was very rare occasion when speeds went up more than 700kbps. Latency was horrible too. Had a ton of timeouts even on simple text pages. Google Maps took forever to come back with results. With T-mobile, in NYC, I am frequently seeing 20+mbps speeds. I would say average is about 17mbps. I can do all things I could never do on Sprint now, like watch Netflix, Youtube, stream Pandora and such.
So, am I really itching for LTE? nope. I mean, it would be nice to have, but am I counting the days? No. On Sprint, LTE is viewed as a great savior from slow internet speeds. On T-Mobile, internet speeds are already amazing.
So, let me ask you this. Why can't you wait for LTE? What is it going to give you that HSPA+ won't? It's a honest question, I am really curious. And please, something other than "2x current speed"

Speed isn't that important for most games. What does matter is latency, which is significantly lower on LTE, apparently.

If that's legit then that's superb mate, not doubting you but i'm on EE myself and i live in central london, most i've had really is around 80 which to be fair is pretty amazing considering 0.5mb broadband used to cost £40 not long ago.
