Questions about HTC One - HTC One X

Hi,
I'm contemplating this phone. based on shortcomings of my current phone, can someone please comment on:
a. Ability to record a conversation both ways clearly both when speaking through the phone as well as when using a hands free Bluetooth device.
b. Sound volume from the built in speaker.
c. Ifit's possible to hook up a Bluetooth keyboard to the phone using the ROM that comes as standard with the phone.
Thank you

You can't. There is no way to program what the button on the headphones does.

Just use your standard htc headphones and it'll work.

Bluetooth only for calls?

So I got my hands on the xbox 360 bt headset and wanted to use it with the built in voice search app. However I can't find a way to make it work with voice search reliably.
With or without headphones plugged in
In or out of the car dock
Rebooted phone
Played with bt toggle
Basically it only. Works with youtube spotify and maybe phone calls. However it did work when I first paired it with my phone.
Just audio play back
Alien build 4
At& t

Detail bump
Had a chance to use my phone in an extended phone call and confirmed the bt microphone can be used during calls.
Trying to develop a test to prove the mic isn't working in a car dock or for voice search and will post again with method and results.
-right now I'm thinking rubber band and dense cloth or maybe some non conductive gelatin used for cleaning keyboards.

New details bump.
The microphone suppression tests failed to stress the microphone so now my only proof the microphone doesn't work in my car is the difference in performance when it does and does not

have you tried toggling the device settings in bluetooth settings? tap & hold device till option window pops up and selecting phone/media? there can also be a conflict if there is another bluetooth device connected using the same selection.
There is no secondary bluetooth device and the settings toggle had little to no effect

Switched from alien to darkside rom so my results may change but are promising so far

I noticed the same thing. I recently started using a Bluetooth again and it amazed me that it didn't work. Unfortunately, I lost my good headset (the one that used to work) so I can't test it. I can confirm however, that Bluetooth did work for all audio and voice functions on the stock ROM and some of the deblur ROMs from the 2.2 days.

Using other headset than Sony'?

If plugin a Samsung headset, for example, the phone will reject it, can't even listen music with it! Is there a way to remove that restriction and use any headset?

Unless you change the hardware, no. Use a converter (or whatever that is)

This issue is hardware matter not software, so u need hardware solution like adapter...

jhonyrod posted this in another similar thread:
SonyEricsson phones use a (jack) standard called OMTP (also does Nokia), while Sony phones (Xperia P, S, U, etc), Apple and almost every other company uses CTIA.
This obviously means that the headphones won't work, but...
The only difference between those two are the connection layout:
CTIA:
T-Left Audio
R1-Right Audio
R2-Ground
S-Mic
OMTP:
T-Audio Left
R1-Audio Right
R2-Mic
S-Ground
So to make them work you can buy or make an adapter that swaps R2 and S, or one that short-circuits both; the first kind will let you use the mic, volume control etc, while the other kind (a simple extension would do) won't.
Now, if you don't want to use ANY kind of adapter, not even a simple extension there's a way you can make them work:
It is supposed that once you push the central button on a headset (OMTP or CTIA, doesn't matter) what it internally does is short circuit R2 and S, so, if you manage to hold all the time the central button on your beats they should work, nevertheless the mic and so won't work either as their data goes through the S ring.

[Q] [JB-JOP40D][Unofficial] Cyanogenmod 10.1headset controls

I've installed this ROM, but when I plug in my earphones my phone start to do crazy things, like skipping songs and suddenly voice search. I think it's because of the bad headphone port, I already had that problem when my phone was stock.
Is there any way I can turn the headset controls off?
I can't post in the android development section yet, so I'm sorry:thumbdown:

[Q] Technical help on inline mic earphone mic not working.

I cannot get my inline mic or earphone mic to work. My sound works but not the inline mic. I replaced the inline mic yesterday and the problem is still there. The only way i can use my phone to make calls is to use a bluetooth. So here's what i did to my phone with no success...
You may ask if the phone was working before i rooted and installed other roms? i don't know.. i actually rebuilt this t999 from left over pieces i had in my shop. I've tried almsot everything to get it going, from different kernels to now going back to stock.
Installed root66 rom then went to avatar rom which is pretty sweet btw. same issue
I tried every single stock firmware with no success. I checked the IMEI online and it doesn't show to be a T999L so i stuck with the T999 Roms.
went back to stock and allowed the phone to do an OTA update to the latest firmware uvdmd5 which is 4.1.2 of course and the issue remains.
The only thing i can hear on the other end is a crackling noise when i tap the mic.
any ideas on what i can try next? is there an IC that controls the mic that i can replace?
any input would be greatly appreciated.
You said you rebuilt it from left over pieces, have you considered its either a bad jack, and did you check to make sure there were no soldering mistakes? The jacks have been known to go bad before, so don't rule that out. Would be much easier to replace that than an IC!

Thanks for replying..
Actually i did replace the earphone jack since it's an easy swap.. But no luck. and it's odd both the earphone jack and the regular inline mic do not work. the only way for me to make a call is via bluetooth
Oh, wait, when you say inline mic, do you mean the one built into the earphones that come with the device? Or the main mic you speak into while making a call?
Can you make a voice recording?

Yes the mic on the device itself.. actually the phone has 2 of them. one on top and one on bottom.. i guess the one on top is for when in speakerphone mode. I tried using googles mic search. i tried recording and when i play back no sound. i also tried the recorder and no luck.
The second mic is for the noise reduction while in call. It picks up background noise and filters that out so whoever you are taking to can hear you more clearly.
Did you try using the earphones with the built in mic? If those dont work either then it probably is a problem with something on the main board. If they do work, then its probably just the main mic that needs replacing.

Ok, that makes sense. I did disable the noise suppression through the phone settings.. but no luck either. i did try using the earphones with the built in mic.. actually i used 2 of them.. and still nothing. i'm curious to know if anyone knows which chip that would be on the board to replace it and see how it goes. would be a good learning experience.
