You can't. There is no way to program what the button on the headphones does.

Just use your standard htc headphones and it'll work.

Hi all,
I was wondering if it is possible to write an application to allow the volume control on headphones e.g. ipod headphones to be used on the DHD?

Hey i dont think you can as it is just a regular head phone jack on the DHD but it could be used as a secondary control where you turn your phone up full then just turn down your headphones and control it that way.
hope it helps
I tried a Nokia controller thing once and the only thing that worked was the volume control.
Those stock headphones just send a specific signal into the jack that only works on HTC phones I guess.
Someone could write a program that reads controls from other headphones too.
The Nokia controller I have is detachable and usable on any headset so I would support anyone willing to do that
I've just flashed my desire with insert coin's 1.0.9 rom 2.3.3 and the voice on google nav has turned itself right down when using the headphone jack and music is playing.
I have this set up so I can listen to music and navigate whilst driving. Any ideas on how to get around it?
I've searched on here but no luck so far.
Thanks
Ive read else where that its specificly related to the 3.5mm jack. So ive ordered a bluetooth fm transmitter. We'll see if that works

If plugin a Samsung headset, for example, the phone will reject it, can't even listen music with it! Is there a way to remove that restriction and use any headset?

Unless you change the hardware, no. Use a converter (or whatever that is)

jhonyrod posted this in another similar thread:
SonyEricsson phones use a (jack) standard called OMTP (also does Nokia), while Sony phones (Xperia P, S, U, etc), Apple and almost every other company uses CTIA.
This obviously means that the headphones won't work, but...
The only difference between those two are the connection layout:
CTIA:
T-Left Audio
R1-Right Audio
R2-Ground
S-Mic
OMTP:
T-Audio Left
R1-Audio Right
R2-Mic
S-Ground
So to make them work you can buy or make an adapter that swaps R2 and S, or one that short-circuits both; the first kind will let you use the mic, volume control etc, while the other kind (a simple extension would do) won't.
Now, if you don't want to use ANY kind of adapter, not even a simple extension there's a way you can make them work:
It is supposed that once you push the central button on a headset (OMTP or CTIA, doesn't matter) what it internally does is short circuit R2 and S, so, if you manage to hold all the time the central button on your beats they should work, nevertheless the mic and so won't work either as their data goes through the S ring.

Hi guys,
I have received a new pair of skullcandy hesh 2.0 headphones with an inline microphone.
when the headphones are plugged in my one x displays the headset icon and will not play music via the stock music player or any alternative music player.
I cannot for the life of me figure out why. I have tried various headset remote apps to get this to work but it still doesn't play music.
standard headphones work fine. My phone is stock jellybean 4.1.
hope you can help.
Can you hear the audio? Only the headphone buttons don't work?

No audio. That's the issue.
if the Mic button or Mic didn't work I wouldn't really care.
Try to hold play button all the time on remote while playing the song cheers

There is no play button on the remote. It has one click operation.
It seems that the one x won't play music through the headset whatsoever, even though they are headphones. The 3.5mm connector that inserts in the phone is a three ring type.

1-did yoy insert the correct bin?
2-did you try the headphone on another device a laptop for example?
Head phones work fine on a direct 3.5 mm jack. Only the microphone lead doesn't play music.
It's a stock phone. So no haven't changed the bin.
Just makes no sense to why a microphone headset that's wired doesn't play music.
