Escape options - HTC One X

Last week i was running stock 1.26 with unlocked bootloader and rooted and i tried to flash a battery mod from a custom rom. After flashing, my device was stuck on the htc screen.
To recover from this, i relocked the bootloader and ran the appropriate ruu for my device.
I am now running 1.28 and the ruu for this is not yet available. What are my options to recover from a situation as above.
1/ Nandroid? I have never used this before (never needed to). Is this a backup that i can store on my phone to use to restore my device in this situation?
2/ Would storing a 1.28 custom rom on my device storage to flash suffice for this situation?
3/ Is there any simpler way to recover my device?
Any advice would be much appreciated.

Do a complete nandroid, tis backs up everything on your phone do it when it's fully working and all set up saves having to set it up again, so any time you have a boot loop issue, go into CWM and just restore your backup after doing a factory reset, wiping data cache and dalvik cache.

[Q] HTC Desire stuck in boot loop

Hi everyone,
I need some help. I recently rooted by HTC Desire and loaded Froyo. Everything has been working perfectly. That is until I tried to run a system update.
Firstly, I got the error "cannot verify file-signature", so I renamed the update to SDCARD: update.zip and ran this from the recovery screen.
The update seemed to run fine, until I was asked to reboot the phone... now it's stuck it a constant boot cycle only getting as far as the splash screen.
Can anyone help me ?
If you rooted your phone than don't do system updated scan.
Did you make a nandroid backup after you rooted your phone?
Have you tried rebooting in recovery mode and wipe cache and wipe data/factory and then flash your phone with the rom again?
Could also try just wipeing cache.
If that dosen't work you might have to format the sd card but i wouldn't jump to doing that and if you do that you should mount your sd card via recovery mode and take the data ther you don't want to lose, like your nandroid backup and other stuff.
If not i would try that before you do it you should nandroid backup your phone!
Wiping all user data won't make a difference. A factory reset will remove all data form the data partition but sysyem stays the same, and that is where the problem is.
If you get the signature verification failed it can mean two things. Either the file was not singed or it was singed but got corrupted/changed. What where you trying to flash?
If you can still boot in to recovery, reflash a rom (with a full wipe) you still have on the sd or mount you sd as mass storage and copy a new rom to the sd.
Just in case, to do a factory reset, choose the "CLEAR STORAGE" option which can be found under the HBOOT menu.. That's what I did when my phone kept getting stuck in a bootloop once, I also did a full wipe + dalvik cache wipe, and then flashed the ROM and it worked.
I cannot do a factory reset. I tried it... same issue. The boots to the flash screen, then gets stuck in a loop. Screen off, vibrate/flash screen on, screen off, vibrate/splash screen on, etc, etc.
Looks like I'll need to do something a little more drastic. Re-flash perhaps ?
Yes, you can try without wiping if you want to keep your data but best thing is a full wipe and reflash.
Am haveing the same problem thinking i unrooted my desire and istalled froyo rom did up date.
My problem seems to be little more then just reboot loop i get red triangle at recovery Fake flash didnt help.
Any ideas?
Oh please, give a solution! on this problem!
I've done the same update and got into a boot loop.
The problem is, I can't get into the recovery menu to flash my backup.
And also tried to reflash the recovery, but Unrevoked won't recognize the phone.
WHAT SHOULD I DO??????
So you updated a rooted phone with an OTA update?
could you post more details.
eg. the rom you are using, the original rom that was on the phone, branded etc....

OK. It's a NOT branded Desire with original Android 2.2 (ROM version 2.10405...), HBOOT 0.93, etc. And yes, I have done system update after Unrevoked rooting (I know it's a mistake)
Any ideas?
download this..
http://shipped-roms.com/download.ph...9.00.32U_5.11.05.27_release_151783_signed.exe
boot your phone into fastboot - power and BACK button.
connect to pc.
your phone should display FASTBOOT USB.
run the exe you downloaded as administrator and with any antivirus turned off.
wait...
done...
this will put your phone back to stock and will wipe everything but not your sdcard.
let us know how you get on

Thanks, I've already got that answer. Now trying to download the RUU with my poor connection.....
by the way, do I need a sim in the phone during this process?
I don't think it matters.

Just finished flashing the stock rom. It's really the only way to bring the phone alive

Nandroid Backup Failure

Allow me to preface this by stating my credentials. I've been rooted and have flashed most every ROM created since day one. I'm no stranger to the processes involved.
Just recently, this started happening. If I create a nandroid backup, then try to restore it, the boot animation just goes forever. It doesn't boot loop, it just keeps going.
This has happened with both CWM3 and CWM5, when trying to restore ICS backups. I've tried flashing the VR Superwipe with no luck either. I've also tried Fixing Permissions.
Has anyone had similar situations that could offer a solution?
Only ICS backups? Did you install a different hboot?
Well I've only tried it with ICS cause I've been running them since January.
I'm using Hboot .92
I personally haven't run into issues with restoring ICS backups using CWM 3.0.0.8. I've done the same process for GB and ICS restore, which is:
1) boot into recovery
2) backup rom
3) flash a new rom then realize I need to restore for some reason
4) boot into recovery then wipe data, format boot, & format system
5) restore and enjoy
I've done this on ICS roms AOKP and CM9 with no issues. I'm not sure how to find a fix if you have used CWM 3 and CWM 5 unsuccessfully.
If you've used the same hboot the whole time that can't be the problem. Try reflashing recovery with ROM Manager and use the "erase recovery before flashing" option.

[Q] Unable to restore Nandroid backup

I took a Nandroid backup of my stock phone (all partitions) before I flashed a new ROM (DN3). Then I decided to return to stock ROM, so I wiped phone and restored Nandroid backup (all partitions except bootloader and recovery).
Now the phone will not boot, it just shows a logo and then a black screen. I can connect to it via ADB however.
I thought Nandroid backup was a safe way of preserving phone, but it seems it cannot actually be trusted?

depends on bootloader i guess, but maybe try wipe data and preload / cache and dalvik and reflash, make sure ROM to flash is on external sdcard as may lose all data on phone
Having the same issue after re-partitioning my phone. My nandroid backup is about 2.3gb and it took about 200 seconds to restore. Nothing was actually restored when I booted up. (This nandroid was made to my SD-Card, wonder if that makes any difference.

Moto Z2 Play Bootloop

I tried Factory Reseting my phone earlier today through Recovery, It said everything was reset so I restarted my phone. My phone is now in a bootloop, it vibrates, shows the "erasing" screen, then the hidden LED light turns on and the screen goes black, then the phone does that forever. It's on the erasing screen for about 3 seconds before restarting. Trying to enter Recovery Mode just sends me back to the "erasing" screen.
Any help would be wonderful!
Were you completely stock? On a ROM? With custom recovery?
What steps did you use? Wipe data and factory reset? Did you wipe the cache partition?
If you were on stock, I would suggest you tried to wipe again. You could try to do it with ADB and fastboot if you are not able to access the recovery (which I don't think would happen if you're completely stock).
If you were not on stock or with a custom recovery, the easiest way to solve this would be to reinstall the ROM you were using.

I was Stock ROM with root, I edited the build.prop file and rebooted the device, that’s when the issues began. I had TWRP installed and restored my backup of my phone from before I made any changed, this didn’t help anything (I was stuck on the “Your device is unlocked” screen). I restored the stock recovery and I now have the original recovery installed. Finally after some well timed button presses I am no able to access the Stock Recover, however if I try to side load a working ROM onto my phone it shows the percentage of the side load but then fails this:”
E:footer is wrong
I:verify_file returned 1
E:Signature verification failed
E:error 21
W:failed to read uncrypt status: No such file or directory
“
It’s a little late now, so I’ll be back tomorrow to do some more research.

Did you factory reset already?
I don't think you can sideload a ROM with stock recovery.
Don't try to flash anything with stock recovery, better go back to TWRP.
PD: If when going to TWRP you slid the "swipe to allow modifications", that's what caused the bootloop, as it made modifications to the partitions. Or so I read on a guide here.

Thinking back again I guess it didn’t make much sense trying to flash a rom through Stock Recovery. Yes I did Wipe the Cache partition and then I Wiped data/factory reset through Stock recovery, all I did in TWRP was restore everything from the backup.
*An hour later*
So I was able to get TWRP installed again. Unfortunately when I try to restore from a backup I made with TWRP before messing with anything it restores with no errors or warnings, but when I reboot the system it gets stuck on the "Your device is unlocked and cannot be trusted" screen. Probably sounding stupid saying this, but shouldn't a restore of a backup be straight forward?
*Another hour later*
I was able to get ToxycOS 3.0 installed and running, but personally I don't like it and want to go to Motorola's Software... now I just need to fix whats wrong with my restore.

Isn't that available, here?

In the end I was able to install the Stock Moto Z2 Play firmware... I hate when people don't include the fix in their answers for other people, but currently I am unable to post any links because they are on a different device. I'll get back later with the links.

Fix phone stuck in boot screen

Hi,
My moto one Action with stock firmware is stack at the Android One boot screen.
Is there a way to reset the system without loosing apps and data?
The recovery mode is not having the option to wipe the cache…
Flashing firmwares usually don't wipe data, unless it was triggered by a file, or an option. I doubt it'll be of help even if you have TWRP installed, cause the data partition may be encrypted.
If you have bootloader unlocked, you can use TWRP to take a backup of your files/apps.
