i was doing a little research on updating the nexus s profile and i found it was the same ##code as any other device but with *'s added in
(eg. ##72786# would be *#*#72786#*#*)
but its not working on my epic touch running AOKP, i get an "modem exception" error any suggestions?
Not going to work on AOSP roms u have to flashback to stock
thats really strange that it works on a nexus device, altho i suppose sprint made sure it worked before releasing it...and i thought at some point it worked on the cm9 alphas in the dev section? am i wrong there too?
I receive the same error with CM9 Alpha 3. So no go on CM9.

I'm running cm rc1but the only onscreen kbrd I use is swype, id like to get it going on this cm rom... but I go with a rmix if it was made by a well known dev....(htcclay**hint**hint* fat theme and all )
I have tried a few of the recently posted swypes but haven't gotten it yet...

should be able to pull from say Myfroyo5-6 roms , then push them into cm then reboot your phone... no?
Swype 1.60.something installs fine on CM6 RC1.
I desesperately try to flash my vivo with a ICS ROM. No way.
I mean, there is no problem to flash the ROMs but I never managed to get the GSM network to run. FYI, I live in France where only GSM is available.
I like the AEROVAN production. Therefore, I'm currently running the Unofficial CM 7.2 . It's working nicely. I tried to go for the Unofficial CM9 for vivow also from AEROVAN. It looks promising, bu again, no way to get the GSM to run.
I tried the trick given there :

It didn't help.
None of the ICS roms request the PIN code when moving to the GSM mode. The Unofficial CM 7.2 do.
Any idea ?

Hey guys,
I'm sorry if this has been posted before, but I've searched on the forums and on Google with no luck. Recently, my sound stopped working on my GSIII running CarbonRom 1.6. Nothing out of the ordinary happened, it just stopped working one day. Also when I'm in a call, the person on the other line cannot hear me. I've checked the sound settings numerous times and have made sure that I am not in silent mode.
I have tried other 4.2.2 ROMs and they all have produced the same result. I have also tried a factory reset and formatted data in TWRP. I reverted back to stock and have noticed that the sound seems to work when I'm not running 4.2.2 ROMs. Does anyone know what the problem might be? I really prefer the look and feel of vanilla Android and I'm really bummed out that 4.2.2 ROMs seem to kill sound. Thanks.

That's an easy questiion, like I have been saying all along none of the cm10/aosp/aokp or ported roms
are ready for prime time, they are good for those who want to experiment with a few features not found
in stock t999 4.1.1 Touchwiz Jellybean roms. None of the cm/aosp/aokp roms even have the Wifi calling feature.
That's why after trying all the aosp/aokp/CM and ported roms I have come to the conclusion above.
So unless you like experimentation only flash T-Mobile T999 stock 4.1.1 Touchwiz Jellybean roms
or any of the custom roms which are based on T-Mobile T999 Touchwiz v4.1.1 Jellybean stock rom.
The best custom T999 T-Mobile Touchwiz Jellybean 4.1.1 based rom in my opinion
is the Wicked v9.1 custom rom, check it out you won't be disappointed.

You could always try to flash your 4.2.2 Tim of choose and choose not to restore Google backup, Google backs up settings. If it works without setting up your account then go from there.

so the problem is pretty self explanatory if you read the title. I keep losing my 4g when i switch to a custom rom. Specifically a custom 4.2.2 rom like

both of them say that they support 4g but when i go and install them i lose my 4g and my 3g is spotty sometimes.
I live in an area with a strong 4g signal and used to drive to and from work with 4g on all the time. Now i have 3g and it goes out sometimes.
So than i am left having to reinstall stock with

with the root.zip so i can have superuser and than install TWRP with goomanager so i can get my custom recovery back.
If i dont restore my phone back to stock with all that comes in that custom zip i wont get my 4g back even if i clear out slimroms and just install a stock 4.1.2 rom.
so what am i doing wrong?!
It would also be a great bonus to me if someone can also explain to me why i dont get MMS in any of the 4.2.2 roms as well.

3. I have reinstalled just a plain stock rom (not listed above) after backing up a custom 4.2.2 rom with nandroid and resetting the network mode back to lte/cdma from automatic and than restored the 4.2.2 rom. That didnt work
I would like a SOLID, DEFINITIVE, CONCRETE answer on what is going wrong and how to fix this problem please.

A little reading goes a long way. In case clicking is too much effort I'll summarize. A recent change to CM 10.1, the base for all of our 4.2.2 Roms, broke 4g. they are looking into it. You can locate a nightly before 5/28 or stick with TW if it is a deal breaker. Have a nice day

even though your answer is packed with sarcasm ill still accept it. thx for your help. I dont read that thread as i have no interest in nightlies because i want a daily driver. I didnt know that they use nightlies to make the custom roms. i thought it was just stable CM10.1 only. Anyways thx again.

Or try aokp milestone it has 4g working to its bit old but stable and everything works

So I've done some searching in the forum (on phone) and wondered if anyone else is having an issue flashing roms other than stock rooted.
I've tried all kinds of other roms cm, miui, liquid smooth, et cetera, and they all get stuck at boot. This is a new thing because I've run all these roms in the past.
I'm on moar 6.1 and it's a great Rom, but I'd like the option to change roms at some point...
You are naming AOSP roms. If you have a newest S3, please try with an updated version. Start with SlimBean build 2( exactly that one) because it's confirmed to work with newest models.

Dude....it wasn't the ROM's fault at all, nor the phone's....it was the loose nut behind the wheel....me.
I forgot (have been forgetting) to format data. For whatever reason, I was manually formatting just the minimums. DANGIT! Works like a charm now...or rather I'm working like a charm now.
Thanks anyway.
