[Q] ICS Update - Verizon Droid Incredible 2

does anyone know if their is going to be an IceCreamSandwich update for the dinc2 non rooted just a regular ol update. also do you know when if so.

I don't mean to be rude, but I actually can't understand what you wrote. :/

is their going to be and ics (ice cream sandwich) update for the droid incredible 2 without having to root and flash device.

Yes there will be an update from Verizon/Htc to Ics/Sense 3.6 (I assume it will be 3.6) sometime in the future. No root required. When, hopefully before the new year.

This ^^
Thanks for clarifying.

alright thanks but until then what would you recommend for the most stable ics rom?

AOKP build 32 with my Cam/Camcorder patch (within the last couple pages in general), aero's v9 kernel (rootzwiki cm9 unofficial thread), AGPS patch (somewhere in our dev section) and don't forget to flash the 3/17 gapps!

alright well im good with this stuff but not that good, i guess i would still be considered a noob :/

Google gave me a gift

Seems only time will tell when get get ics officially..

You asked again? Why? They are all betas. If you want stable stay with 2.3..

[Q]Roms

So, since AlphaRev is comming soon(-ish) I would like to get some information about roms. Or some suggestions.
I'm looking for a non-sense rom, that is fast (preferably Gingerbread).
Also; If I install CM7 (GB) will I have to install any custom kernels for overclocking?
Thank you for your help :]
No, CM7 comes with a kernel that supports overclocking by default.
ROM List here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1029318
Thanks for that info.
Concerning your list, I'm looking for some input from other users
Can't really help you there, because the only AOSP (Non - Sense) ROM I have used till date is CM7, both stable and nightlies. Personally, I am very satisfied with it, and would whole heartedly recommend it, but, ROM choice is a personal thing.

What is the main advantage of nightlies over the stable one?
Sent from my HTC Wildfire using XDA Premium App
Nightlies integrate many changes, developed over time. They are kind of "unofficial / beta builds", so there's no official support for bugs on those. Thus, nightlies may give new features, but may also have the potential for introducing new bugs.
One example: The nightlies use Android 2.3.4 since quite a while back, but all stable versions are still on 2.3.3. The next stable version will obviously incorporate 2.3.4
Thank you
Guess I'll go for the stable cm7 once AlphaRevX comes.

[ROM] MIUI.us 2.1.20 (Old ROM, may update) [3.22.2012]

Not even going to pretty up this thread right now, I don't have the time(Would someone like to do it for me?). This is a MIUI ROM ported well over a month ago, but then other updates were released just minutes after I finished so I said forget it. However... I feel like maintaining a MIUI thread, so I'll open this up.
What's different from the other 2.1.20 ROMs? None much. I'll update it to whatever the current Gingerbread version is. also I'm doing MIUI V4, but godfuckingdamnit Netd is the biggestmotherfuckingpainintheass /rant.
Download MIUI 2.1.20: http://www.mediafire.com/?j7h9tia8c5c39ud
Everything should work.
Nothing should not work.
I like cookies.
What extra would you like to see in the next MIUI? May try to get AROMA installer to go with it... But what would you all like?
Changelog:
2.1.20 - Inital release, old build, just for the hell of it.
More space for meeeeeeee
Lol an First!!

need help fancying up the thread? LOL
You were actually the first that came to mind when I wrote that, lol. But eh right now I don't know, I want to do MIUI V4
Anyone know why the hell Netd won't start? Take a look at the MIUI V4 ROM here

I'm also stuck with the Netd issue...

Latest darkside kernel?

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1473077
quite simply, can anyone either
1) explain how to pull a kernel from a rom
or
2) upload the latest Darkside kernel, pulled from his latest rom?
he stated he was going to release the kernel about a week ago but hasn't gotten around to it, and tbh i don't really wanna bug TDJ over something like this when i'm sure he's busy with ICS and what not.
thanks!!!

I would wait for him to release it, or at least get his approval. Posting someone's work without their approval can cause a mess of drama and problems.

[ROM][7/14]-Stock Rooted Deodexed - IML74K.US.9.4.3.30

This is a Stock Rooted and De-Odexed ROM based on the official Asus IML74K.US.9.4.3.30 release.
You MUST be on the current IML74K.US.9.4.3.30 Firmware. You cannot flash this over AOKP / CM9 or any other ROM that does not use the IML74K.US.9.4.3.30 kernel!
It uses Super SU and has no tweaks or mods. Its just as Asus would have made it if they were to make a Rooted and De-odexed ROM!
Its great for those that may want to make there own ROM of just have a ROM to fall back on.

Correct me if im wrong, but doesnt the prefix: IML74K belong to the TF101, I thought our Firmware (US Version) started with US_epad-9.4.3.30_2012 ? Thanks for the new rom though!
Anyone's thoughts on how this compares to Seanz's?

ro.build.display.id=IML74K.US_epad-9.4.3.30-20120604
Thats the last Asus has. I think the IML74K is throwing you off making you think of a different tablet? Not sure what the builds are on the other Tabs. Its quite possible that build number can be used on the TF101. Not sure though.
I shortened the title and excluded the "_epad" (kinda a given, lol) and took off the date stamp because only so much will fit in the thread title.
Hope that clarifies it a bit for you.
EDIT: Just found the latest build prop for the TF101 and it indeed is similiar
ro.build.display.id=IML74K.US_epad-9.4.2.21-20120323
So it does look like the use the IML74K build number on the 101 as well. Not sure of the significance of the IMLxxxx?

Its a stock ROM.. I will be posting my "real" ROM later on tonight
I just put this out for those that, as posted in the OP, may want to do there own dev work or just have a quick and Easy stock de-odex ROM to flash and maintain 100% Asus software.
My real ROM "CleanROM" strips out all the Asus Crap... Most of it anyways...

Looking forward to trying this but will probably wait on your CleanRom. Good to see another stock base rom for our device.

Yeah, cool! Its just a cleaned up version of this ROM. I dont know much abotu these "blob" files so I am still learning. I can do much wiht the ramdisk which is where I perform my magic. But with just all this crazy Asus stuff taken out its runs soooo much smoother.
But just to clarify, I am talking about CleanROM, and not this stock rooted ROM.
This stock rooted ROM is just that. A complete 100% stock ROM that is pre roooted and de-odexed. A great ROM if you want to build your own!

Really? At the risk of sounding like a jerk.... How did you even find your way into the Q&A section without seeing tons of posts about "When will we get the ICS update?"
Just to let you know, once the OTA ICS update is released you will not be able to download it since you are not on the Verizon network. What you will need to do is S-OFF (or at least HTC Dev Unlock) your phone so that you can flash a custom rom. The best part about this is that you don't even have to wait for a custom rom to be released thanks to our awesome devs! You have tons of options for ICS, if you want stock Nitsuj17 just posted a leaked version of the update earlier today and he also has another sense ICS rom out, CondemnedSoul soul has a few nice options (AOKP and CM9 or if you want JellyBean he has the new version of AOKP as well,) Aerovan has an awesome CM9 and a CM10 rom, TazzPatriot has a sense ICS rom out too. There are others as well, those are just the ones that spring to mind.
Thanks

There is no real "stock" ICS ROM yet as it hasn't been released. The closest ROMs to stock ICS at the moment are:

Just stay stock. If you are that much of a rookie to this, it just might make things worse at this point in time. Most don't have GSM working 100% from what I understand (GSM users can correct me on that).
But, if you haven't even rooted yet, you are still a bit away from being able to flash one of those bad boys. I say give it another week at least to see what these devs can do with the leaked rom.
It will probably be easier for you. If not, and you think you are ready to take the plunge, than good luck and enjoy!
