Hey all,
could anyone with a full copy of..
RUU_ENDEAVOR_U_ICS_40_HTC_Europe_1.26.401.2_Radio_1.1204.90.13_release_251208_signed
please post up the MD5 for it? The host for the shipped rom copy was so unreliable last night I want to check it's not corrupt / tarnished. I'm trying to debrand my UK voda One X and don't want to try with a hosed firmware installer. (not sure it will even work yet as various threads are saying it's not possible to change the CID yet?)
Thanks!

I'm on T-Mobile UK and getting the DHD soon. I've done quite a bit of reading on rooting and I will definitely do it for the added benefits to my phone. I have two questions surrounding the subject...
1. The VISIONary page says to have a 'safety net' ready before attempting to permaroot. Can someone tell me, or point me in the right direction (Links would be nice) to preparing a copy of the stock ROM to reinstall if something goes wrong? If there are any guides please share =)
2. If I needed to send it for repairs would the only thing I really need to do is to use VISIONary to Unroot the phone? What about any apps that required rooting? Would they have to be un-installed first? I assume that in such a scenario once I got the phone back just re-root it again.
Hi and welcome to XDA.

One such "safety net" is to ensure you have all the correct drivers installed on your host computer, just install HTC Sync 3 and it will take care of that. Also download the correct RUU (Rom Update Utility) for your particular region & carrier. You can use this to revert your DHD to the state it was when you took it out of the box.
Here you can find the --> Desire HD Files. HTC Sync will come on the SD Card of your new phone.

Using the above RUU's your DHD will be factory restored. Everything you did will be reverted back. All the apps you installed will be removed. There would be technically no way HTC would know you rooted your DHD.

Thanks for the answer.
How do I know what RUU to use? From my glance I would assume mine would be the: TMO DE 1.39.111. Also know how I can confirm if it's the same version as mine or older? thanks.
If your getting it from T-Mobile UK then you will need a TMO-UK RUU, sadly there isn't one available yet. The TMO DE is for T-Mobile Germany.
You could use a generic HTC RUU, just find the latest version. If you are planning to root, S-OFF, etc... then avoid this --> RUU_Ace_HTC_WWE_1.72.405.3_R_Radio_12.28e.60.140f_ 26.04.02.17_M2_release. As this will lock down your DHD.
Thanks again. Though I'm not sure if I shouldn't just wait for a TMO-UK RUU to make an appearance before I root my phone.....Would a generic HTC RUU work for my current firmware? Also wouldn't a generic RUU be a problem if I tried to send it back for repairs?
Oh also I heard mention of a gold card a couple of times here and there. Would this be needed for using an RUU?
No problem at all,
Yes a generic HTC RUU would work. I got my DHD from Orange UK, as it was from the first batch I received it unlocked & unbranded, just a generic HTC DHD. Although carriers will supply you with a branded & locked handset 99% of the time, people still get generic HTC handsets.
If it went in for repairs, T-Mobile will just replace the software for their own anyway.
A goldcard is a modified SD Card that will allow you to flash unsigned ROM's to a locked (S-ON) handset.
Hi guys,
I'm stuck with an HTC desire that doesn't want to boot.
I used to restart by itself once in a while and sometimes it would loop the loading screen a couple of times.
I managed to recover it before by using the recovery option on the bootloader but not this time...
What I've been trying to do is to install a clean ROM to see if that will make it boot, but it's proving difficult since I don't have a Gold card and the phone is Branded (T-Mobile UK) and not rooted.
Would you please advise some steps that I can try?
I read some threads in multiple forums but usually people cant even access boot menus properly, I can access both Bootloader and fastboot it's just that I'm not having any success in re-flashing / solving the problem.
PS: current ROM seems to be 2.12.110.2
Thanks in advance!
Update
I have found this thread which is a very similar problem to mine.
The differences are:
- I can actually run HBOOT;
- The phone is not rooted;
But i think the most important is:
- I can't seem to find the PB99IMG image of my current ROM so I could try and load via Gold card as suggested on the thread: "...flash the right (matching hboot, provider and version) RUU, by using the PB99IMG method..."
Any ideas how I can try to fix this? Thanks.
this is the TMO that you reported. http://shipped-roms.com/download.ph...00.32U_5.10.05.17_2_release_143754_signed.exe
good luck
Hi mariosraptor, txs for the reply.
From the other thread I think I need the PB99IMG.zip file. Is there any way to convert one to another?
I've tried the RUU before but it fails since I'm not really upgrading to a newer version...
i will upload the file for you in a few minutes.

Thanks a lot mariosraptor!
I will try this today by uploading it to the SD card, hope it works!
Tried it just now. It does find the PB99IMG.zip file and loads it, then it says [CHECKING] but it reverts back to HBOOT screen
Any ideas why this may be? I'm not using a Gold Card, can that be a problem? I thought it was okay since this ROM is signed...
It should not be needing a goldcard as long as it is your original rom. But if you can create a goldcard it shouldn't do any harm.
Sent from my LeeDroided Desire HD
Firstly, I realise there have probably been a few of these threads so I apologise for opening another but I havent found the answers im looking for. What I'm trying to figure out is whether I can upgrade to the 2.22 firmware on my phone. It was purchased from three (in the UK) but I have rooted and flashed InsertCoin 3.0.5. As a result my firmware is currently 1.54.401.10 which isnt the three version which I believe would be .771 instead of .401. However, my mid is H3G__001 and cid is 06PB10000. What I'm confused about is that I have an unlocked firmware version (I think) but a branded mid. Does this mean I can flash new firmware or not?
From reading around I get the feeling that I might be able to upgrade if I have my mid in the android-info.txt file but I'm not sure whether I can just add this to the file for a firmware package I download
Although im a bit impatient to upgrade to the latest ROM i'm happy to hold out until a three firmware package is released but given i'm already on a custom ROM I wont receive the OTA so I dont know how that would work either. Can anyone help offer suggestions of what I need to do?
Hey guys,
I got myself an HTC ONE M8 last saturday and noticed i couldn't write to my SD card with non-google apps.
So i decided to install another ROM. The Android Revolution HD 22.1 to be exact.
However, since i'm a complete noob, i did not check if the firmware matches. Which it doesn't.
When entering fastboot it's says my 'OS' is 1.54.161.10 , but Android Revolution HD 22.1 needs 3.xx.xxx.xx right?
Now i tried flashing another firmware but that didn't work. First i got error 42 because the CID didn't match. (it's VODAPE17)
i added that CID to the android-info.txt inside the firmware.zip and got rid of error 42.
Now i getting error 12. According to Sneakyghost:
For Error 12 “signature fail" do:
- might indicate that a signed firmware package is required. This would only happen with S-ON phones though.
Does this mean i need to get my phone S-OFF with sunshine, or is there another way to fix this problem? ( I already tried firewater, didn't work)
I don't mind going back to the original M8 ROM. I just want to get rid of all this trouble
Thanks!

You should post the solution, for the benefit of others.
I assumed you did s-off? Otherwise, you can't flash another CID's firmware.
I deleted the OS on this HTC one m8 t-mobile. yikes.
I am trying to install a Google play edition for lollipop or marshmallow using twrp recovery via micro sd.
I got the zip roms. from htc dev and graffixnyc
some of the names of them are m8stockui-3.4.0-g62722b . zip and RUU-HTC_One_M8_GPE_5.0.1-3.11.1700.5.
Every time I try to Install one it shows up this
Checking for MD5 file...
Skipping MD5 check: no MD5 file found
Could not find 'META-INF/com/google/android/update-binary' in the zip file. Error installing zip file ' / external_sd/m8stockui-3.4.0-g62722b .zip
I think it has something to do with the Zip files but I don't know how to get it right or where to get the right rom.
The device is bootloader unlocked, S-ON and says OS-4.20.531.5
Any help would be appreciated.

If I were you I would probably start with this thread in the t-mobile forum general section.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/tmobile-htc-one-m8/general/download-t-mobile-htc-one-m8-t3331664
I no longer have t-mobile, I'm on Verizon now.
Be sure that you have the latest firmware for marshmallow. Then be sure you have the latest twrp recovery and super 'su'. The t-mobile forum is not very active so I would search the regular m8 forum under Android development for ROMs that support t-mobile. Since t-mobile is a GSM carrier you should be able to find something.
If you are s-on you will need to get the sunshine apk (do a Google Search) from 'the root ninja' so you can s-off, there may still be other ways but that is the easiest. You may even be able to find some YouTube videos.
From what I have seen about people "converting" there phone to a Google Play Edition, it is a pain and there are several steps to it. And if you want to convert it back to a sense ROM you may also need to make some changes to switch back, the partitions may not be the same but I don't remember.
There is always cm13 and other aosp based ROM's. CM13 is a good place to start off you just want to try out some roms, it is small, fast and updated regularly. And there are plenty of other ROM's to play with that are easier to flash.
Wish I could be more help but it's been a while since I've had a t-mobile phone.
Also check out this thread, post #4 explains things better.
