Hi, everyone.
Got a Desire 2.1 update-1 branded by Orange ES. Hboot is 0.83. Dunno if it's SLCD or OLED, does it matter anyway?
Used unrevoked to successfully root and installed a custom recovery (unrevoked standard). Right after this the phone wouldn't go past the HTC logo but I could still get recovery screen. I tried a recovery but it didn't work either. From there I tried installing RUU_Bravo_HTC_WWE_1.21.405.2_Radio_32.36.00.28U_4.06.00.02_2_release_126984_signed.exe (which is the one I want to upgrade from to stock Froyo2.2) but I got a problem in the middle of the installation ( installer says I needed to use the proper file for my phone). Then I used the recovery screen to install a custom ROM, AuraxTSense Froyo and that worked (have it on right now) but from this ROM the RUU WWE installer doesn't work either.
Any suggestions?
You'll need a gold card to use the stock RUU file - otherwise your phone doesn't pass the CID check because it's branded...

The Error code the installer gives me is "131" if that helps. On the phone it shows "CID error, cannot continue". Any ideas what does this mean? Help? Please?

now i know.. after flashing to stock RUU WWE, can i still use the unrevoke technique you taught me?
i did flash my phone using stock RUU WWE Europe (as far as i can remember) and thinking to flash WWE Asia... i cant get 3G/GPRS/MMS settings in my carrier.. im thinking if flashing WWE Asia ROM could solve the problem...
Quite possibly yes, and yes you can re-root with unrEVOked once done
thanks again EddyOS ill flash right away
Ok, so now I did a goldcard and the process seems to go a bit further but it stops. It says "Error 104, wrong hboot version - please install the correct version for your mobile phone". Any answers?
to pass the CID check, try this: htcpedia.com/forum/showthread.php?t=2934

That now means the HBOOT version you have is newer than the one in the ROM you're trying to flash...What ROM are you trying to flash?
EDIT: If it's still the one in your OP then chances are you'll need the stock 2.10.405.2 RUU to get the generic ROM on the handset. You can get it by clicking on the version on my signature
Hey Guys,
I'm reaching the point of frustration now. To try and cut a long story short, I had the Android Revolution 6 ROM on my rooted/unlocked HTC One X, and decided to update it to Android Revolution 13. I followed all the instructions, went to boot it, and it just sat on the HTC logo for an hour at which point I knew something went wrong. I repeated the steps, including wiping data using super wipe, without success either. I then decided to just select the "Factory reset" option on the boot menu, but this has also failed to boot after 30 minutes. I can also no longer boot into recovery. I've tried reloading CWM and other recovery ROM's onto the phone, but the phone resets as soon as they load.
At this point, I just want to get some form of OS on my phone. My phone is Unlocked, S-ON and has a CID of OPTUS001. I don't know if Factory reset will work if the phone is unlocked. It's all very time consuming as you normally don't know if the boot process has locked until you've waited ~20 minutes. I can't find my original ROM from when I bought the phone either, so I assume I need to obtain another one from somewhere, but I don't have any idea about CID compatibility, etc, and I'm finding this all very confusing and frustrating. All help is much appreciated. I have a feeling I need to replace my boot.img with a stock boot.img, but once again, where do I get that?
Thanks
the phone doesn't boot because you don't have the latest firmware installed, you need HBOOT 1.31 but you can't install it cause your CID is not compatible with it, you sjould go back to ICS and wait...
Did you load new firmware 1.31? This firmware is not compatible with Your CID... Did You read carefully this thread — http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1924003
Sent from HOX with ARHD 13
You forgot that you need to update the firmware to 1.31.
You can also just install ARHD 9.7.2. Ensure you have the latest CWM 5.8.4.0
faatboot flash recovery recovery.img
and then flash the boot image:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot erase cache
And then copy the ROM on using recovery mount USB and flash it.
Thanks for all the help guys. I managed to get a stock recovery.img back onto the phone, and by re-locking the phone I was able to use the latest Optus RUU from htcruu.com.
So at least I've now got a working phone again.
Moving onto why ARHD didn't work, I had no idea about the firmware 1.31 compatibility requirement. I thought all HTC One X's were created equal. I didn't know about this CID nonsense. Can someone explain how I find out when my phone's CID becomes compatible, or perhaps a way to change my CID or some other means of getting Jelly Bean onto my phone. Apologies for being a noob.

Hello guys,
I know this is probably pretty simple but I'm not very good at this kind of stuff. So, I recently decided to revert back to stock rom to download the latest OTA update which fixes the heating issues and improves the camera (hate the overheating issue on the phone) but I'm not sure how to do this. I've tried downloading the latest RUU's for AT&T but I always receive an error message saying that it is the wrong RUU so I can't find the correct one. My cid: CWS__001 and the mid is : OPJA11000.
Thanks

you'll have to RUU back to http://dl3.htc.com/application/RUU_...21_62.05.50320G_F_release_426950_signed_2.exe
and then take the OTA update .. the new 2.6.502.18 RUU is broken
OK thanks I'll try that
Not working ruu
The ruu doesn't work, it gives me error 155 please download correct RUU, I don't know which one is the right ruu for my phone, all the ruu I have tried for att doesn't work and gives me the error message. I'm stuck in bootloader with locked bootloader (need it for ruu) and no os installed, also no twrp so I don't know what I can do next.

are you s-off ? if no you need the RUU for the current version your phone is on now
if your on 2.x.502.x your out of luck as that RUU is broken directly from AT&T / HTC
you'll have to send your phone to HTC for repair

here's all the files I had backed up on AFH > https://www.androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=28823
I have a Dev edition M8 that i zip RUU'ed back to lollipop. i took a security update successfully, then the 3 preinstall updates in prep for marshmallow. however, I now get an error when taking the actual OTA for marshmallow. I am s-off and bootloader unlocked. I then downloaded the RUU from HTC to run the exe, but i always get error 155. I read @Sneakyghost post about firmware and it said it was either region ID's not matching, or the bootloader being unlocked. I don't see why the unlocked bootloader would be a problem when im s-off and its a dev edition, which is bootloader unlocked out of the box. Anyone know what is causing this?

heres my recovery message, just to maybe help troubleshoot it. it mentions userdata being busy (i got an error in the zip ruu flash for userdata, had to flash the ruu zip twice to get an okay), then kidmode missing. not sure what to do besides flash the firmware from http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one-m8/development/rom-stock-unlocked-developer-sense-7-t3262894
Modified system apps, sir. That's what it is. Did you root your system?
Edit:
Maybe not. Maybe just can't find those apps cuz it can't mount data.
Something wrong there.
No idea.
I'll see where I end up.

ok so i got mine to work.. apparently the zip RUU isnt good. i ran the exe 4.16.1540.8 from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2701376 and then updated ota from there without issue. so my guess is the RUU zip wasnt perfect system-wise,while the exe is straight from htc.

zip was from the same thread, i tried the exe instead because it was an HTC file instead of a contributor. now on MM sense. The 6.xx RUU refused to work no matter what i did, so i OTA'd to the latest version.

I seem to be having an entirely different problem. After swapping cables, phones and laptop ports as well as updating drivers, it appears that the usb port of my M8 is broken. I'll have to see at someone else's computer, maybe tomorrow. Pretty frustrating right now as I'm liking the M8 better than my M9 and M7.
[EDIT]
I could stabilize the connection enough to run another, international RUU. The RUU worked fine while the 6.12.1540.4 kept getting stuck at either "checking header" or "sending" - both times with a successfully established connection. I already tweeted HTC asking to have that RUU checked. I assume your findings were correctly indicating a bad RUU, since a.) It also didn't work here and b.) people from my team have confirmed seeing several fail scenarios with that RUU spread over XDA.
Guess that's that then. Thanks for raising the issue. I would have messed around with it much longer otherwise since the error messages are not clearly pointing towards a broken RUU.
[EDIT]
More updates: searching the M8 forum for 6.12.1540.4 turned up this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=64320571
That'd mean the RUU fails at the hboot pre-update reboot. All that's needed apparently is to flash only the hboot manually first, so it can proceed. Hence also error 155 which usually indicates issues with the system image. You experienced that most likely because the older hboot couldn't extract the system.img from the rom.zip.
Usually, the procedure is:
RUU updates hboot
RUU reboots to boatloader
RUU updates rest of firmware
RUU sends over the system image in parts
Hboot now decrypts and flashes the part.zips
It just looks like mandatory hboot-first-flash didn't happen right, either not rebooting after it or not flashing it at all.
However, this seems to be fixable by running the hboot/firmware package first and then the complete RUU.

So as you might have heard, android 6.0 is out on htc one m8 now, and as usual i wanted to update. I got my device into a bootloop after unrooting and downloading some OTA's online, and messing around with stuff that didnt work.
But now im rly stuck, when i boot my phone up it automatically boots into bootloader. I cant flash a boot.img because i get a signature verify fail. Updating with RUU returns error 130 and factory resetting doesnt do anything at all(in fastboot and in recovery). plzzzz help
Hi,
Did you try to reflash your recovery and try to install another rom like ViperOne M8? Or if you want i can send you the stock ROM Android 6.0

You seem to be going about things rather haphazardly:
1) Not sure exactly what "some OTAs" refers to. But there is typically only one OTA that will properly work. That being the one that is for your CID (carrier version) and for the next software version (can't skip any).
2) Along the same lines, you can't just flash any RUU. It has to be for your CID and MID (Error 130 usually means wrong MID), and equal or greater version number than main version on the phone (no "downgrading" unless you have s-off).
3) "messing around with stuff that didnt work" doesn't tell us anything about how you got to the current condition. You need to be specific and detailed, if you want us to be able to tell what you did, and how to recovery.
4) You can't unroot and OTA, it has to be a stock (never rooted) ROM and stock recovery.
5) boot.img in itself probably won't help your situation. And signature verify fail usually means you tried to flash without the bootloader unlocked (which won't work).
Are you S-OFF? If so, this works;
1) Download 0P6BIMG.zip. You'll have to Google
"dottat @ XDA M8 RUU" to get the file as I haven't
made at least ten posts here and can't post links yet.
2) Place 0P6BIMG.zip on an SD card formatted fat32 ONLY.
3) Boot your phone, allow HBOOT to recognize 0P6BIMG.zip
and follow the prompts.
RESULT: This will land you on STOCK kitkat 1.55.605.2
pre-rooted with stock recovery.
