Can't flash anything on CWM - G2 and Desire Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Just rooted my bros G2 and I was finally able to get S-OFF but when I get into recovery I cannot flash or wipe anything! When I reboot I don't get anywhere either does anybody have a solution?

Download 4Ext Recovery from the market and try flashing with that.

Can't mount /cache/recovery/log
Can't Open /cache/recovery/last_log... If I take teh battery out and power on the phone I am stuck at the white HTC screen

Use the latest CWM recovery, has the ability to mount memory on USB, or install an RUU, and start all over again, both possible
And by the way, always have a custom ROM in your memory for this situations

Hmm... I have the CWM 5.8.3.1 (touch recovery). When i try to "Mount USB Storage" i get an error message reading
E: Unable to open UMS Lunfile(No such file or directory)
I also did try to Partition and format SD Card...
Should i use a different(lesser) version of the CWM recovery or a different recovery all together...
Thanks,

CWM 5.8.4.0 supports USB while in recovery under advanced tab. See
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1594819
Might be worthwhile in the future keeping a rom you know works locally so if worst happens to can recover to it for the time being.
didnt' work for me
I was having the same problem. I updated my recovery to 5.8.4.0 and then cleared cache. Still stuck in boot loop. I can't get to the recovery to re-install rom. Any other suggestions?

Did you verify ms5 on recovery image and verify you are flashing correct one? You may also want to try a different cable.

You can always return to stock. Check CS's thread in dev section. Then you need to adb flash custom recovery & superuser, and you should be good.

Follow this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1599767
Then, if you don't have adb & drivers, you need the download from this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1751796
From here all you need to do is adb push custom recovery & superuser. Don't downgrade via revolutionary.

In my sig you will find a Partition guide. There you will find ways to install 4ext recovery touch. Try it.

[Q] MIUI will not flash and is stuck in boot loop

Hi,
I started having problems with my phone a few days ago and today I attempted to reset it. It's now stuck in a boot loop every time at the MIUI logo. I've tried flashing my ROM again but had no luck. When I go into recovery it does not recognize anything on my SD card. I have had this ROM installed for some time now. I have clockwork mod but it won't load! I just want to be able use my phone again. Any suggestions are appreciated!
My phone is an HTC Droid Incredible (original) and I am running MIUI 2.11.9
Best,
Doug

A little confused. You said when you go into recovery, then you say you have CWM, but it does not load. So can you get into recovery or not?
Re flash cwm or flash twrp, and then try to do a restore or flash a rom. If recovery still wont see your sdcard, then reformat it fat32 with a pc and try again.
I assume you tried to do a factory reset from the hboot menu and thats where the problem started?

I can only get into the factory recovery. It's not CWM.

So I checked the SD card using a friends phone and everything is normal. All CWM and MIUI files are still there. When I try to go through my phone however, my PC does not recognize the device.

Yes, S-off and it should be unlocked. On the HBOOT screen there is no option to load the SD card. It's like my phone does not recognize it.

Use a pc to backup and then format the card fat32. Then download this file http://dinc.does-it.net/Recoveries/TWRP_2.5.0.0/PB31IMG.zip and place it on the sdcard in no folders named exactly as it is (PB31IMG.zip). Boot to hboot and it should automaticly find the file and prompt you to press vol up to install.
Or use fastboot to flash this image http://dinc.does-it.net/Recoveries/TWRP_2.5.0.0/recovery.img.
Code:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img

Alright, so I was able to boot into recovery. However, when I try to flash a rom (I've tried two different versions of MIUI) it's stating that "some symlinks failed" and I am getting an error:
E:Error executing updater binary zip '?sdcard
Error flashing zip '/sdcard/MIUI.us_inc_v4.1.2.1
updating partition details
and then the flash fails.

Its because the rom zip has not been updated for twrp. Either learn how to mod the file, or you may want to flash cwm http://dinc.does-it.net/Recoveries/CWM_5.0.2.0/ recovery instead.
