[Q] I need help... I may have bricked my GN - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

I was using Odin3 v1.85 to upgrade my GN CDMA version to ICS 4.04 using the Firmware update "CF_YAKJU_IMM76D_full.tar" and it failed on the last step. I couldn't get it to finish and when I reset and disconnected it now gives me a image showing a cell phone on left a yellow triangle with "!" in the center and computer image one the right. What do I do. I've tried to enter the recovery mode by restarting the phone holding the power and vol up key, but it goes back into the same screen. I was following instructions on android advices site. Any info or instructions would be greatly appreciated.

It's because you tried to ODIN a GSM image onto your CDMA device.
If the phone starts (and is recognized by the computer) you're probably far from bricked. You should try to connect and fastboot flash the 4.0.2 images for your CDMA phone, or use a toolkit (or maybe even ODIN) to try it.

What toolkit to use? Wug's Toolkit GnexRoot Toolkit 1.3?

Could someone please point me to a step by step thread to help me recover this. I know I'm a newb and a "dumbass" as someone so eloquently put it.
Thanks.

Do you know how to fastboot?

No.

You should read up on it. Would help clean your pants up and help you in the future.

I guess I did know how get into fastboot mode (hold vol up/down key and power on), but I can't get into fastboot mode! This is what my screen does no matter what I do. What direction should I go to get this to boot back up?

Ouch. From my time using smart phones, one sure fire way to brick a phone was to flash a GSM radio onto a CDMA device (or vice versa). I'm fairly new to Samsung phones and not that familiar with odin, but if odin pushed the gsm radios to your phone...you may be SOL.

Vzw nexus wiped system

Hey i accident did a system wipe instead of doing a regular wipe and i can only boot into fastboot mode now when i try to boot normally it only stays on GOOGLE screen with the little unlock symbol but like i said i can get into fastboot mode. I tried using the Gnex toolkit 7.4 but it wont downlaod any roms because it says it cannot connect to Goo.im anyone know how i can get a rom on this thing? THank you in advanced.
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda premium
Well...coincidentally goo.im is down.
But use post 3 of my guide (or your ******* toolkit if you insist) to push a rom.zip to your phone and install it.
Wiping system just wipes the rom.
So if you have a download for the same rom you were on...you can simply flash it and not wipe anything.

For anyone who wants to help that doesnt know my situation its this, i acciently wiped system and i cant get past google screen as far as booting goes but i can get into the fastboot screen and into recovery. all i need to get is be able to put a rom onto the phone and ill be fine. Usually with my past phones that take SD cards this would have been easy but it doesnt i need a method to push a rom. I attempted to use Nexus toolkit 7.4 but goo.im is down. I had a file from im76k but i dont know why it will not push. ADB isnt recognizing my device and i dont know what to do anymore i need help please

its hard bricked. Only way to fix is with a JTAG ive heard alot of good feedback from mobiletechvideos http://mobiletechvideos.mybigcommerce.com/samsung-galaxy-s-iii-jtag-brick-repair/
Chances are its hard bricked. But if you can get Odin to see it, it may be possible to save it.

Definitely sounds like a hardbrick. I would say go with the JTAG video, I helped a friend fix his hardbrick with that as well. But next time make sure you triple check what you're flashing!!

This is a definite hard brick. The Intl has its kernel on /mmcblk0p5. On our s3, this is the location of the bootloader. Its fukd.

[Q] Boot loop problem after rooting.

Hey folks,
A friend of mine with no prior experience of rooting decided to go ahead and root his GSM Galaxy nexus anyways.
The guide he followed is this one. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5AvJI4ucOL4
At that time the phone was on ICS. Rooting was successful and the phone was working okay. He then updated to JB using OTA update. The phone rebooted but has been stuck in a boot loop ever since. On the very odd occasion like maybe 1 in 10 times the phone does actually start and goes to the lock screen but then restarts immediately and is stuck in a boot loop again.
Any ideas as to how the phone can be un-rooted and the returned to stock JB?
Many thanks.
I wonder where I might find something like that....

Thanks for the links mate. Just was not sure if the same would be applicable to a phone stuck in boot loop. A bit scared after managing to brick my own EVO3D last week
I tried following the instructions given in the link posted by Pirateghost but that requires to access the CWM recovery mode. When I try and enter recovery mode I get a sleeping droid with a red triangle and exclamation mark. I assume this is because my mate tried to do an OTA when he should have downloaded JB and installed it through CWM.
Any ideas on how to return to stock now please?

Guides indicated by Pirateghost give you all the information to flash the stock rom and also explain to you regarding the disappearance of the custom recovery .... in case, if you're under windows/mac, try the Nexus Root Toolkit, has the GUI and it's easy to use as long as they are properly installed the drivers to recognize the phone ...
Do it with your friend, or you'll have to do it again in the future.

have you tried remove battery and put it back ?
mine have same problem this moring, hope it'll help :fingers-crossed:
I came here to post about the exact same issue. Went to bed last night, phone was working fine. Woke up and the phone was dead. At first I thought it was kind of odd because it had over 50% charge when I went to sleep but I just assumed that the battery died. Plugged it in but still nothing, changed to the spare battery and plugged it in and let it charge for 4 hours but still wont turn on.
The phone has spent it's whole life in an otterbox defender and is in otherwise mint condition, running the latest stock rom/firmware. What would cause a phone to just up and die?
Update:
Took the battery out of the phone and left it out for about a minute, put back in and the phone powered up. Strange.

you will have to flash stock and try again, please remeber to unlock bootloader and turn on usb debugging.
Turn the phone off (in case you cant, holding vol- and power will hard reset the device)
as soon as the screen goes black press and hold the vol+ and vol- keys in and connect the usb cable, this should kick it to download mode for you to flash stock image.
Thanks it worked and took me to download mode but unable to flash the ROM, trying to flash 10 but shows something in download menu, screenshot attached.
Giving the error i am facing, trying to flash stock rom via odin but it gets stuck at boot and nothing happens.
I am able to get into download now but seems like bootlader is off it is giving an error
error - SW REV. CHECK FAIL (BOOTLOADER) DEVICE:4 BINARY:2
sorry for back to back posts.
download from here; https://www.sammobile.com/samsung/galaxy-a50/firmware/#SM-A505FN
select your phone model tho, if not FN.
"SW REV CK FAIL usually means that you are not flashing the most current released firmware version. Most Samsung devices will not let you downgrade. You have to flash what was previously installed or higher Android version. "
from; https://androidforums.com/threads/error-odin-sw-rev-check-fail-device-4-binary-3.1251721/
So maybe try pie again then upgrade to 10?
Is your odin the latest, I've found that not all odins work with all phones.
For samsung A50 they say this one; https://dl2018.sammobile.com/Odin3-v3.14.4.zip
can you reboot to stock recovery? by holding vol+ and Power?
Try factory reset and wipe everything.
Have tried to flash the one was installed in mobile earlier but still giving same error, it was ATB6 installed.
Sorry I couldnt help more, there seem to be plenty of youtube videos out there tho; https://www.google.com/search?q=SW+...3TxUIHU4_C3QQ_AUoAXoECAsQAw&biw=2560&bih=1344
