I'm willing to be corrected here, but as far as I can tell, everyone wants to return to stock before seeking Sprint's help.
If this is correct, does that not make all the anti-cloning types (especially, say, my account to my account with my phone to my phone) huge hypocrites, right?
I've already noted that the admins decide which things to delete or not, based on whim.
There's a document a ways back that you could print out and take to sprint, and they would have to fix your phone rooted or not. Sprint really doesn't care if your rooted. Some people are a tad paranoid about it though. Lemme see if I can dig it up

Rooting is not illegal, cloning is and could get the xda in legal trouble if they allowed it to be discussed. Before you reply, let me find some threads where this was discussed extensively. I'll post them in a few min.

These are great answers. Sorry if I came across as off my meds yesterday, I think your terse response without any explanation set me off. My fault and obviously not very mature. Grrrr, at me. arg that's embarrassing. As it should be.
Why do we have to pay but everyone else gets it free and why is nobody doing anything to change that and if you are how can I help if at all I find it dumb that we pay but everyone else has free or hacks and the people who know how to hack ours are making us pay? Because that's the way the cookie crumbles. We got a hack that requires paid software to unlock the bootloader on non-unlockable Plays. End of story

I was not trying to be a ****. Just pointing out. And so you are aware second post was added as I was adding what I put. And the Google search I did was xda xperia play unlock bootloader pay. And it came right up. I neither harassing you or trying to make myself look like an a$$. Merely stating that doing a search can save this forum from having a bajillion threads all titled towards the same topic. I hope you understand.

Holy crap. Some people just dont understand ****. The software for unlocking cost maybe 150bucks. He would be stupid if he would offer free unlocks of the bloader. Stop trying to be fool and deal with it.

True, I was happy to pay tbf. Its not like its a fortune, the guy has to give up his time to walk you through it (I'm not a complete spastic and it still took several minutes for the explanation, reading etc) and the end result was that not only could I dabble more heavily with custom roms and so on but also carrier unlocked my device.
Both of those reasons are selfish to myself in that they only benefit me so why shouldnt I pay? I would do so again too, to reward those that are more learned than me in this field and take their time to help out the likes of me who dont know what they are doing.

You don't have to pay you can use s1tool
(Dunno about CDMA but it certainly works for anything else (SEMC or SETOOL certificate)).
You still have to do it over testpoint.

Just a bootloader unlock doesn't use setool credits either.

Alejandrissmo lives in the Mexico timeframe. Your best bet is to message him at night (Ca time).
I tried all the possibilities He hasnt replied yet. I added him on Gtalk. Lets hope he replies now.
I got my play unlocked by alejandrissimo. He told me that if i want ICS Stable, then I should flash the firmware for Neo L (mt25). that will give me stable ICS. does anyone know about this?

The answer to your question woukd be in the android development forums or the theme forums. Theres plenty of black ststus bar mods everywhere and I mean everywhere. But to find them youre gomna have to use the oh so terribly hard search function. In fact ill do it for you for a fee if you dont want to.
Simplistic framework allows this

There is no option to change it. The update changed it from grey to black. There is no setting. Yes it is not very dark for black but it is definitely not grey anymore. And yes, it is a searching issue. There are many sites that state this change although some of them have been confusing by stating that it is changeable but the majority of what I read simply state that it was changed. There are already 10 other threads related to the update where this question could have been asked but no, you had to create a new one.
I don't know why I even bother with this guy?

You see how many posts I have in almost 3 years? That's because I READ EVERYTHING and only start a new thread if I've searched and cannot find an appropriate thread. Again, posting on an even 2 month old thread that has 20 pages it is assumed that you've read all 20 pages, which you probably haven't, and have not been able to find an answer but have tried ALL the suggestions included in the thread. Hi guys. So my girlfriend dropped her iPhone 4s and smashed the screen to hell. Cough cough. Lol. Anyway I'm thinking I'm going to let her just have my epic touch. So I used triangle away app and also did a full stock restore. I'm wondering though could Sprint ever tell I had it rooted and had custom kernels before or should we be all set? Don't ask me why but she wants nothing to do with root. I gotta try to get you guys a pic of that phone though. It's pretty bad. Thanks.

Probably not. But I've heard of cases in the past where people would end up with a big charge on their bill all of a sudden. Most likely wouldn't happen now but better safe than sorry. Anyway I don't plan swap it out anytime soon but you never know.

I can honestly tell you that it is now an issue. Until we see things changed with the DCMA, it's now fair game to question all devices again, regardless of age. That's the way it's being handled.
I have sent a subject related question to our FSM's here for them to talk and discuss, while MSL obtaining talk is still OK, you have every reason to be concerned on what tech may look at. We have a few tech's in this forum who can speak better to what the directives are now on their level, but I do know that initial reps and managers have been instructed to pay more attention.
TL;DR - I know this is off topic from your op, but you're right to be concerned.

If the flash counter is 0 and device status says Official, they won't say anything. They can not deny a claim based on intent from having something on the SD.

This is factually incorrect. Maybe you should re-read whatever article you're garnering that from. The API is publicly accessible, but it only contains lists of installed apps. It used to include location, but no longer does. Couple that with that the fact you would need to know the IMEI of the phone you were trying to access to get their ID, I would hardly say "anyone could get any info from your phone". The developers also said they are addressing the access availability of the API. There's no need to spread false information. I personally use it, and if I felt the security issue was as dire as you portray, then I wouldn't.

Yep, I read that too. It had already been updated by the time Koush made that post. His main gripe was that the API is accessible to the public. Which, I completely understand, but its not really a real world problem. Sorry, didn't mean to jump all over your ****.
