Why do we have to pay For bootloader unlock - Xperia Play Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Why do we have to pay but everyone else gets it free and why is nobody doing anything to change that and if you are how can I help if at all I find it dumb that we pay but everyone else has free or hacks and the people who know how to hack ours are making us pay? Thats crap that samsung users do and were better than that
Sent from my R800x using Tapatalk 2

Because that's the way the cookie crumbles. We got a hack that requires paid software to unlock the bootloader on non-unlockable Plays. End of story

Not to sound harsh but if you did a search instead of making a new thread you will see this has been answered several times.
See this thread, my response.. see post #3
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1731521
quoted from me:
"he only way now is to pay $24 to have alejandrossimo do it for you. The reason for the fee is because the software used to unlock makes the person using it buy credits to do certain functions. So the price to unlock is not to pay someone to unlock your phone but to allow that person to pay to unlock it for you. Alejandrossino makes no no eyes on this. He is simply using moving the money you pay to the software to Plow unlocking. Sorry if this explanation is long. Just wanted to make it clear. "
Please in the future do a search first, if you still have questions then by all means post a thread. I am not trying to harp on you but sometimes doing a seach is your your best friend for quick answers.

Holy crap. Some people just dont understand ****. The software for unlocking cost maybe 150bucks. He would be stupid if he would offer free unlocks of the bloader. Stop trying to be fool and deal with it.

True, I was happy to pay tbf. Its not like its a fortune, the guy has to give up his time to walk you through it (I'm not a complete spastic and it still took several minutes for the explanation, reading etc) and the end result was that not only could I dabble more heavily with custom roms and so on but also carrier unlocked my device.
Both of those reasons are selfish to myself in that they only benefit me so why shouldnt I pay? I would do so again too, to reward those that are more learned than me in this field and take their time to help out the likes of me who dont know what they are doing.

Dude why are u still talking tye conversation was over if you read it says I UNDERSTAND, god people are so dumb no wonder u guys jumped on me ..

it's pretty easy but yeah, i wish it was free too i feel ya

Just keep watching his facebook page....I've seen free unlocks that run for 2 hours but most often I've seen $10 unlocks...like earlier today, even if I missed it l

You don't have to pay you can use s1tool
(Dunno about CDMA but it certainly works for anything else (SEMC or SETOOL certificate)).
You still have to do it over testpoint.

Just a bootloader unlock doesn't use setool credits either.

Alejandrissmo lives in the Mexico timeframe. Your best bet is to message him at night (Ca time).

I tried all the possibilities He hasnt replied yet. I added him on Gtalk. Lets hope he replies now.

I got my play unlocked by alejandrissimo. He told me that if i want ICS Stable, then I should flash the firmware for Neo L (mt25). that will give me stable ICS. does anyone know about this?

Yes, but the touchpads will not work.

Ok. Thanks.
What is your suggestion? Should I use THIS ROM or the mt25i ROM?

[Q] Uh, rooting is against your contract, isn't it?

I'm willing to be corrected here, but as far as I can tell, everyone wants to return to stock before seeking Sprint's help.
If this is correct, does that not make all the anti-cloning types (especially, say, my account to my account with my phone to my phone) huge hypocrites, right?
I've already noted that the admins decide which things to delete or not, based on whim.
There's a document a ways back that you could print out and take to sprint, and they would have to fix your phone rooted or not. Sprint really doesn't care if your rooted. Some people are a tad paranoid about it though. Lemme see if I can dig it up

Rooting is not illegal, cloning is and could get the xda in legal trouble if they allowed it to be discussed. Before you reply, let me find some threads where this was discussed extensively. I'll post them in a few min.

Um...... 2 things.
1. you could ask nicely "if" work is being done to gain root to these two firmwares
2. its quite possible that devs are working on it but have yet to find a way to gain root access........
And the moral of this write up.......... politeness goes a long way..... asking like an a$$hole gets the opportunity doors slammed in your face.... seriously if you are not happy about "WHY THE HELL HAS NO ONE GOT OFF THEIR LAZY A***'S AND TRIED TO FIND A METHOD, then how about YOU find out how to do these things so YOU can do it your self.
There is a method that's the funny thing, I'm not saying anymore.

Your age is not an excuse. Stop hiding from your dumbass mistakes. I had more sense and was more polite than you when I was 12. You used a similar defence when accusing me of copying your status bar. Stupidity is not limited to age and ill mannered logic definitely is NOT. There's also a roundabout method of rooting the .62 firmware(.69 is german only according to xperia blog) which if you cared to research would've found.

This should be moved to Q&A section.
If your bootloader is unlocked and your flashing the recommended kernal etc then you shouldn't have a problem
Sent from my R800i
that is the problem, the bootloader will not unlock. i did the step by step and came up with the same problem cwm (x-parts) is not working.
if you alredy know the problem why keep trying. it the bootloader do not unlock it do not unlock. nothing you can do about it. other then installing a rom that dose not require unlocked bootloader.
here's another problem, i can't seem to root it again after i did the update.
What phone you got? R800x or R800i?

from what i know it can be unlocked if i can get it rooted and cwm working on this current build.
I have an R800i so i don't really know how it works for the R800at. For the R800i, you type in the following in the dialer, " *#*#7378423#*#*". I know this doesn't really help you, but perhaps there is a similar step for the R800at that tells you whether or not your bootloader can be unlocked?
This may help but like i said, i don't own an R800at and i am in fact, quite a noob myself:

Think I may have unlocked a locked bootloader ;)

After having a chat with o2 who provided my sxs,and asking them to unlock my bootloader the assistant apparently filled out a form to have this done,I shall have to wait 7days to get a email from them with a code then get in touch with Sony-so fingers crossed it works.
I triple checked that they wasn't doing a SIM unlock and got a copy of the chat if it doesn't turn out to be the boot loader unlock.
Fingers crossed!

Just as the title says

My defy is my computer. & with any computer u want all u can get from it been on since 2010 and xda is still my #1 go to for any & all info i may need. & XDA motivates me to get a new phone to try other mods/techniques not available/applicable for my defy. XDA ROCKS!!!

Almost all searches to most of my queries on Google that where related to Android (and some times Symbian back in the day) usually leaded here... I'd pop in to lurk every once in a while to find out about rumours and more specialized apps quite often over the years.... Eventually one day I really felt the urge to reply to a couple of threads and decided to register (as well as asking a couple of questions of my own. ) That's it in a nutshell.

Yeah, so far I am enjoying my stay here on XDA. It feels a lot different from stack overflow or other such places.
